A word from The Blue Point
Our menus: www.thebluepoint.com.

A fresh approach to regional, coastal cuisine & southern hospitality alongside spectacular views of the Currituck Sound.
Inspired dinner & lunch menus served in a warm and inviting atmosphere by a professional and natural staff. Exceptional and friendly Wine Menu + Full Bar.

There are very limited reservations for groups larger than 6. In season, we do not accept reservations for groups larger than 12, and we do not split larger groups to get around this rule. Reservations can be made to have dinner at the bar.
We do have some seating available on a first come - first served basis so it is always worth checking to see if you can get a table. In season we have a large outdoor bar area where you can enjoy a cocktail while you wait.

No better place for good food, good wine, good friends and spectacular sunsets.

Diner Reviews
  • "Blue Point is a must for outer banks visitors. It is the perfect blend of outstanding food and sense of place. Coastal-style cursing with finesse. The service is outstanding. The crab cakes are a staple. Everything including the desserts are terrific. We have been there as a couple and with large groups for a celebration dinner. Never disappointed."

  • "Still the best ever. Great food, great location, and still the best on the outer banks. Lov ya mean it"

  • "You can always count on a great meal at the Blue Point! David our server is exceptional! There was someone in our party with food allergies and he was able to answer all of her questions and the Chef provided her an excellent meal! Everyone, from the young lady who greeted us at the door to the bus boy were super. My favorite Outer Banks Restaurant!"

  • "Food, service and ambiance were great. Noise level though was too loud. Maybe it was the party at the next table, maybe it's me. Loved the location. Service and food were great!"

  • "Food and service were great. Very cool decor, almost a 50's throw back look. Crab dip was the best I've had on the outer banks. Mostly a seafood menu. They could use a few more meat choices for the mom seafood lover."

  • "We have been coming here for 4 years--the food and service and ambience are all top notch! We do make a reservation each time about 3 weeks ahead--just to ensure a table! And it's worth every bit of it! We love this place! We will see you next time BluePoint!"

  • "Limited choices for nonseafood loving customers, but those choices (beef tenderloin and glazed pork chop) were quite nice. Accompaniments we'll matched and desert was nice as we'll. BUT, come to find out that my son had made arrangements with the restaurant to pay for our anniversary meal using his credit card, without our knowledge. No one at the restaurant seemed to know anything about it and we paid ourselves. Only when my son asked us about it did we find out about the arrangement. Not a customer friendly occurrence."

  • "Delicious food (loved the soup special--chilled tomato & basil with crab) and desserts. We were seated by the kitchen and the fans were very loud; preferred last year's table in the first room."

  • "The view was spectacular and the she crab soup was the best I've ever had. Absolutely recommend this restaurant for any occasion. Great elevated outdoor bar, large grass area with Adirondack chairs for casual wine drinking and bay/sunset watching. The food is 5-Star all the way around, but the dress is nice casual. I saw a lot of shorts and flip-flops, so it really is the best of everything without the stuffy atmosphere."

  • "Our meal was fine but not spectacular. People rave about this restaurant but I think it is overrated,"

  • "Beautiful view, nice ambiance . Food was good, I feel it is bit overpriced. Nice wine list. However they so not cater at all to families with children . No high chairs , no kids menu, no willingness to adjust any item on the menu for kids . Only thing you could order for kids is noodles with butter... So if your child doesn't eat that you are stuck. They absolutely give the vibe that children are NOT welcome. Crazy! I'm the middle of DUCK, with all the families on vacation? They need to let patrons aware that this is how they roll. We would have spent our money elsewhere and have had a less condescending expedience."

  • "This is a very upscale and posh place. We took a two-year old with us and I was a little concerned about what her reception would be. The staff couldn't have been more accomodating. We had fabulous food, from the amuse bouche to the desserts. Highly recommended if you want fine dining."

  • "Dinner at the Bluepoint was wonderful as always. She crab soup, iceberg salad, pork chops and the wonderful housemade ice cream. Great sunset view and serving staff start to feel like friends as we see the same ones from year to year."

  • "Have dined here many times - always a memorable meal. Excellent; will return."

  • "We made 2 visits within a few months---fabulous each time! In season, we made reservations one week in advance. Service is exceptional, attentive but not too cloying. Crab cakes are thick with crabmeat and short on "filler." The dishes utilize fresh, local ingredients that ramp up the taste. The fresh peach and blueberry cobbler was delicious and was a great way to end a wonderful dinner!"

  • "Well, I have to say that the Blue Pointe was disappointing compared to last year. The salads has no dressing at all; greens were delicious but ricotta cheese flakes had no taste. There was not even a tomato. The dinners were good but very small for the price. Last year was a much better meal. The waiter was great and as always the ambience was beautiful."

  • "Still the best restaurant on the Outer Banks. Locally sourced food, cooked simply but extraordinarily well."
    Dined on 8/10/2014
  • "Perhaps it is just getting to the end of the tourist season. Service was outstanding, but the food was mediocre at best. The fish special lacked creativity - featuring a boring flounder. The crab cakes are no longer what they were. Much smaller, too much spice, not enough lump crab meat (used a lot of backfin) and an uninspired presentation. For a $32 entree, not a good deal. Blue Point is a great restaurant, but the chef needs to reenergize and step up her game."

  • "We arrived early to have a drink in the backyard bar and watch the sunset. It was a great start to the evening. Dinner was outstanding. The crabmeat sauté is delish! Not at all like the traditional lumps swimming in butter. Our server was Felicia and she was so friendly and helpful - make a reservation and go!"

  • "Before dinner, you can relax in the yard, listen to music, have an intimate conversation or a raucous time with a group of friends. Then dinner is delicious, served with precision. Red leather banquettes are a great feature. Watching people at the bar also entertaining if the conversation lulls."

  • "Everything was as it has always been since we've been going to the OBX. Fried green tomatoes appetizer and she crab soups are a must have NOW! I had the crab special with spoon read (best meal I've had at the BPG to date). My brother in law had the pork chop which was excellent, sister in law did her usual scallops (great) and my wife had the daily grill special, also good. Extra bonus, they had two bottles left of the '09 Chimney Rock Cab!"

  • "The Blue Point has been a long-time favorite of ours. We come to the Outer Banks once a year and can't wait to get here for our special date-night vacation highlight. The food and service are always great, with fabulous creative dishes from the chef, and the sunset view is amazing. This is a 1st class dining experience."

  • "My husband and I really enjoyed our meal at The Blue Point. The food is simply wonderful! We savored (and devoured!) each dish as it came our way. We enjoyed the fried green tomatoes with crawfish slaw, the she crab soup (favorite dish of the night!), the lump crab meet sauté, the trout dish, and tasty dark chocolate brownie with homemade coffee ice cream. This restaurant rivaled some of our favored fine dining spots back in Washington, DC. The service was fast and friendly. I highly recommend you try it out!"

  • "A few visits to the Blue Point are a given whenever we are in OBX."

  • "We came here on the last night of our week long stay in Corolla, and even though it was pouring rain, the view of the sound was fantastic. Everyone in our party of three started with the she-crab soup, which was perfect. There was a light bite to it, and a huge pile of crab meat right on top of the soup. You can taste the sherry, but it's not overpowering like it is in so many other soups. I had the seared scallops, and they were tender and full of flavor, cooked perfectly. I would come back here every day, if I could afford it!"

  • "This experience was perfect in every way. Our party was larger than expected, but the management accommodated our needs. The service was exceptional, even the bus boy was excellent. Drinks are creative and well-done. The food - we can't find anything better at OBX. Quality of ingredients, preparation and presentation are top-notch. All in an upscale but casual setting. Highly recommended."

  • "Have loved this restaurant for years.....remember it when it was tiny and crowded. The renovations from a few years ago make all the difference in the ambience of this wonderful restaurant. Two of my Top 3 Best Meals EVER were at The Blue Point. Thanks for yet another memorable dinner."

  • "This restaurant is a gem in OBX. Whether you want to have a romantic dinner for two, a night out with family or friends, The Blue Point doesn't disappoint. The food is terrific. Local seafood is always on the menu and it is prepared perfectly. I highly recommend this place. You haven't dined in OBX unless you have experienced The Blue Point."

  • "Have been coming to the Outer Banks since 2000. The Blue Point is one of the nicest places we have been to. The service was outstanding, the food was good, the only problem was one of our side dishes had curry in the couscous which neither of us cared for."
    Dined on 7/29/2014
  • "My wife and I enjoyed outstanding entrees of seared tuna and the flounder special. The melon/serrano ham appetizer was refreshing, and the key lime pie was melt in your mouth. Our server Tim was fabulous as always."
    Dined on 7/27/2014
  • "In my book, the Blue Point is still by far the best restaurant on the Outer Banks (any many other places as well). The menu is creative and traditional at the same time, and the execution of dishes always 3 cuts above anything else around. We've been coming to the Blue Point since it opened 25 years ago, and will keep coming as long as we're able. Several visits there are always a high point of our vacation."

  • "Took some friends who had never been ... their opinion? The best dining experience on the Outer Banks! Fantastic cocktails (try the Dark and Stormy) wonderful salads, the chilled soup was amazingly tasty and the swordfish was impeccable. Dinner for four with cocktails and wine under $300?... a terrific value!"

  • "Always reliable and innovative, great service, fresh delicious food and drink. Expect to pay a bit for good quality, reservations a must, even out of season."

  • "The Blue Point is a gem. They've set the bar high, but we've never been disappointed."

  • "Food was excellent as was service, snappy and efficient. The variety of entrees was exciting after eating at Elizabeth's Cafe for 15+ years with it's traditional non-changing menu. Portions were on the small size as declared by all in our party. Two guests had fish and one had sautéed crab, all which were excellent but small in size. Prices were acceptable but dinner for three including three salads, three entrees and three cocktails and one shared desert will easily run north of $200 including tip. Will come here again next summer unless Elizabeth's changes their menu."

  • "We have been coming to Blue Point every year as a date night with my wife during our family vacations for the last 12 years and it has yet to disappoint. Our favorites are the tenderloin and the crab cakes."
