Inspired dinner & lunch menus served in a warm and inviting atmosphere by a professional and natural staff. Exceptional and friendly Wine Menu + Full Bar.

There are very limited reservations for groups larger than 6. In season, we do not accept reservations for groups larger than 12, and we do not split larger groups to get around this rule. Reservations can be made to have dinner at the bar.
We do have some seating available on a first come - first served basis so it is always worth checking to see if you can get a table. In season we have a large outdoor bar area where you can enjoy a cocktail while you wait.

No better place for good food, good wine, good friends and spectacular sunsets.

I dined with two others and we all enjoyed our meals immensely. I had the crab sauté. It was very light for this type of dish compared to others I've had like it. We plan to include the Blue Point to our dining plans when we return to Duck."

  • "We were looking for a nice dinning experience on our last night in Duck after a long, busy week. The Blue Point was just the spot. Being in the service industry, I can be very critical when dinning out. Our service was excellent. Chris (?) was very knowledgeable on his specials and menu. Very likable. Food was great from the corn bread bites, the breads, to our meals. 2 of us chose one of the specials. The Halibut. It was prepared perfectly! 2 others chose the crab cakes which both agreed that they were very good. I believe in farm to table and thoroughly enjoyed the experience!"

I'm not sure that we have dined there every year of its 25 years in existence but certainly over 20 years. Our experiences there have always been excellent. The food is always fresh and the dishes inventive. The service is always excellent and the place is always alive with energy. I would highly recommend an evening at the Blue Point."

  • "My wife and I got away to the outer banks for a night and made a reservation for dinner at The Blue Point. Everything about the experience was wonderful, and I even told my wife during the meal that it was as good as any meal we have had in our hometown of Richmond-I would even say the service was better. Our server (I believe David was his name) was exceptional-knowledgeable, attentive but not overattentive, and attuned to details. I especially appreciate the fact that the kitchen accommodated my vegetarian wife with a wonderful meal that was not on the menu. Usually the vegetarian plate at a fine dining restaurant is subpar, but hers was fantastic. My steak was perfect. Great experience and meal-support The Blue Point."

  • "I live in Richmond VA and even though this place is in NC, it is still in my top five favorite places to eat! As a point of reference on my taste, I have a mother who is an amazing cook so when I go out to eat it better be good because I could have just gone home for a free 5 star meal. The Blue Point's food is easily 5 star; unique, delicious, and fresh. Plus the atmosphere is perfect!"

  • "Disappointed I could not get the seat I requested for my anniversary even though it was open when we were seated. My family is local to the area and I told them that and still could not get the seat I was hoping for. We eat here year round, thought that might matter to a seasonal establishment. We also waited 17 minutes before someone came to take drink order or even welcome us. Waitress told us that no one told her we were seated in her section. I've eaten here more than a handful of times, food is always good, but the attention to service from the hosts is average. Especially when dinner for two is $200."

  • "Dine at dusk if you prefer unforgettable views of the sound and boardwalk with exceptional seasonal cuisine. Snacked on a seasonal items off the menu to start. Had the crab cakes which were made into twin crispy breaded balls. The texture held together and added more of a crisp texture than crab cakes I've had in the past. Also sampled the beef tenderloin to complement the seafood. It was cooked to perfection and seasoned well with just salt and pepper. The service was excellent. My one regret is I wanted to linger a little longer and it felt like our plates disappeared just a fraction too soon by an overzealous busser likely appeasing a congregation of awaiting diners."

  • "My wife and I have an annual tradition of eating at The Blue Point every year during our beach vacation and it never disappoints. We love grabbing a drink on their deck and watching the sunset while listening to live music. The service is great, and we have actually gotten to know some of the wait staff over the years. We love the food! This year the bone in pork chop was 3" thick - awesome!"

It's never a disappointment. The staff is always friendly and inviting and the food is always amazing. It doesn't matter if it's the high season or the middle of winter, there's always great food and great people. Love, love love this place!"

Owners Sam Mcgann and John Powers have been at it for 25 years and they sure know what they are doing. We always go there when we are at the OBX."

  • "This was our first time to the Outer Banks and after a little research we ended up at the Blue Point. Everyone was extremely happy with their meal selections. Our server was extremely knowledgable about the food preparation and wine pairings. I loved my yellow fin tuna and would eagerly eat it again. The prices reflect the quality of the food and the staff - if you're looking for cheap and cheerful this is not the place. If you're looking for a good quality seafood meal, this is your best bet."

  • "Though clearly the best seafood coastal spot in North Carolina, ( and I have done all the good ones multiple times), Blue Point would be a favorite anywhere - California, Cape Cod, the Hamptons, Como, Amalfi Coast or Cote d'Azur - none better or more consistent. The food, the service, the scenery, and the ambiance. I travel plenty and dine well, but I am always excited to be back at the Blue Point. Edison (Chapel Hill)"

  • "Always a special time when we go to this restaurant. This time we went early for the back bar sunset watching, had a signature drink on the lawn. Awesome. we got out table, early actually, and had the usual great service. Waiter even re-chilled my Ketel One. It's extremely unusual when we order special that we don't love, but this time we ordered the chilled potato soup that was only a 7/10 for me and 2/10 for my wife. She said it was the only thing she ever had that wasn't a 9 or a 10/10. Oh well, nobody is perfect. But the main dishes, the Mahi and the sauteed crab were fabulous. The bourbon pecan pie with ice cream was so danged good, too. Still it's the best place down here, hands down."

  • "I was dissapointed in fresh fish special, mahi mahi. While Creole sauce, served on side and red beans and rice were excellent, the fish itself lacked firmness and was blah. My dining partner was dissapointed in fried catfish. Thick filets were not near as tasty as arkansas farmed catfish we are accustomed to."

  • "For the second year in a row my wife and I celebrated our anniversary with dinner at The Blue Point. When we arrived they offered us complimentary glasses of champagne and asked us to wait just a moment so that they could get us a nice, quiet table with a beautiful sunset view. My wife got the crab saute, which is only available for a short time during the summer, and I went with the creole-themed mahi special. Both dishes were excellent, and the pecan pie is fantastic. We'll be back!"

  • "Wow. This food was incredible. I kept my expectations in check expecting that I would mostly be paying for the view, but the food was wonderful. Most of us had the crab cakes (all crab) with a delicious tarragon sauce but someone also ordered the seared tuna with a pea sauce which I sampled and also enjoyed. Our server was truly a professional. Come early and sit out back enjoying a Pimm's Cup and a view of the sunset over the sound."
