A word from The Blue Point
Our menus: www.thebluepoint.com.

A fresh approach to regional, coastal cuisine & southern hospitality alongside spectacular views of the Currituck Sound.
Inspired dinner & lunch menus served in a warm and inviting atmosphere by a professional and natural staff. Exceptional and friendly Wine Menu + Full Bar.

There are very limited reservations for groups larger than 6. In season, we do not accept reservations for groups larger than 12, and we do not split larger groups to get around this rule. Reservations can be made to have dinner at the bar.
We do have some seating available on a first come - first served basis so it is always worth checking to see if you can get a table. In season we have a large outdoor bar area on the sound where you can enjoy a cocktail while you wait.

No better place for good food, good wine, good friends and spectacular sunsets.

Our server was a delight. She greeted us with a smile and some good wine suggestions. The regular menu is always great but we couldn't pass up the the short ribs, which were melt in your mouth tender or the cornmeal gnocchi, which was seasonally appropriate and light as air. We always enjoy our trips to Duck and Blue Point is always on our to do list.

My wife and I have been to the Blue Point many times, including having dinner there on the night I proposed to her 14 years ago. The food is always fantastic and it is a real find. Sadly, we took some friends here for dinner on their first trip to the OBX, and the service was abysmal. First, after waiting about 20 minutes, I went to the hostess and asked her to alert our server that we were seated. The server came by, saw we had drinks from the bar, told us the specials and disappeared for another 15 minutes. Finally he took our order and the food came quickly. He never asked to refresh our drinks, and never checked on us, even when we watched him service other tables. Will certainly return, but hope not to get him again.

The Blue Point is a wonderful spot in Duck. Arrive before sundown and see the spectacular view on the sound side. The restaurant is long so there is lots of "view" seating. The food is really amazing but I didn't rate it as "outstanding" because it's a fairly small menu. The pork chop was the best I've ever had but it came with mac and cheese that was just a little off. The wine list is huge and overall a fantastic experience. We would definitely return. It's a little pricey for the area with entrées in the $20-33 area plus drinks, salads, etc. so probably not a family place. Make reservations, we came in November and a lot of people were eating at the bar. The service was outstanding.

I've been going to the Blue Point off and on for over twenty years. It's been an abiding favorite on mine during that entire time. I don't get there often now since it's about 600 miles from my home. But being able to go to the Blue Point makes the 1200-mile round trip more than worthwhile.

I have been going to the Bluepoint for over 20 years. Each time the food is delicious and creative. The menu is slanted towards fish but other options are there as well. The service is good and personal. Staff have been there for a long time. Ambiance is good and if you get there around sunset and are lucky enough to snag a window table, the view will reward you. Expensive but the product reflects why. Good, local ingredients cooked with care and creativity.

We have been to this restaurant many times before and found it comfortable, but after our recent visit, we left with our ears ringing due to the excessive restaurant noise. Dishes clanging constantly, background music added to the din, and general sound levels made our experience less comfortable. The booth tables were pretty large which made it hard to hear companions conversation. The server was excellent. She was well informed about the menu and was even courteous when she needed to interrupt our conversation to as a question - something rare these days.

Blue Point has been a favorite restaurant of our family for 25 years. The food at our most recent meal was excellent. The one entree that we had was the trout special. It was fresh, delicious and a great meal. The other entree we had was a crab dish that was unique and wonderfully flavorful. Excellent meal. The wine list is always a treat. Blue Point has a diverse wine list that has wonderful selection. The outdoor bar and back yard is a beautiful setting to sit relax and enjoy your company.

My husband & I chose your restaurant to celebrate our 28th wedding anniversary this past Saturday, 10/18/14 (married on 10/18/86). We have eaten lunch, dinner & had attended group gatherings at your restaurant in the past & knew that we would have another wonderful experience. Our waitress was very nice & the food was wonderful. We had your Flounder special & Crab cakes (as usual). We also enjoyed a bowl of soup - both the spicy special of the day soup & the She Crab soup. Both were delicious. Dinner was topped off with dessert - the Key Lime pie with raspberry sauce & the Pecan pie with Vanilla ice cream. We were home in time for the Notre Dame VS Florida State football game. Perfect evening!

This is the best restaurant on the Outer Banks. Don't come here for your standard Outer Banks fish fry. The fish they serve is very fresh and inventively prepared. By all means try the appetizers and save room for the amazing pecan tart and decadent chocolate cake with home made screams. Make a reservation, don't eat much for lunch and go to the Blue Point for a terrific dinner experience. Do not be discouraged by the bar scene. Focus on the food and the view.

We've been to the Blue Point quite a bit over the years, and remember when it first opened. We didn't discover it right away, but once we did it has become a family go-to place when we are in the area. The food is always excellent, the ambiance is friendly and full of laughing from all ages, and the servers over the years have not only been excellent, but seem to have true pride in what they're providing and usually have worked there for several years. It's first class dining in a very family friendly environment. You will have to see the sunset to appreciate why it has to be one of the best restaurants on the east coast. Cheers to Blue Point, and their staff.

We had friends from Atlanta visiting Duck; we ate lunch and dinner at Blue Point. The visitors were very impressed. The salads and hamburgers for lunch were awesome. Dinner began with watching the sunset from the outdoor patio. Two of us ordered the dinner specials of sauteed halibut and two crab, and country ham which were delicious. The desserts, well there are no bad ones at Blue Point. We have been coming to Blue Point at least twice during of our visits to Duck since they opened in the late 80's, we have never been disappointed in the food or service.

After more than a few disappointing restaurants on Cape Hatteras, this is a welcome change. Solid from start to finish. Arrived early and was seated immediately in their wonderful bar area overlooking the sound and featuring top live music. Seated at our table on time. GREAT waiter who covered the attentive without obtrusive requirement at top level including what I refer to as the final mile (ever received the bill after a meal only to have the server disappear for 20 minutes while you wait to pay and leave). We live in this beach town and have been to The Blue Point MANY times. Took 2 visiting friends there for a special meal. Food was divine, as usual. One guest said it was the best steak he had ever eaten! But I must note items about the service this time: -My husband secretively told the hostess it was my 70th birthday and to bring a special dessert (candle, etc.) after the meal. It was not done---until my husband informed the server AFTER all desserts arrived with NO acknowledgement. No apology. Disappointed. -Suggest: small snack gotten at bar with before-dinner patio drinks, even if it's an extra charge. The Blue Point should never drop the ball on making EVERY customer feel special. That said, we will still return for a great meal.
