Diner Reviews
  • "My wife and I enjoyed outstanding entrees of seared tuna and the flounder special. The melon/serrano ham appetizer was refreshing, and the key lime pie was melt in your mouth. Our server Tim was fabulous as always."

  • "Took some friends who had never been ... their opinion? The best dining experience on the Outer Banks! Fantastic cocktails (try the Dark and Stormy) wonderful salads, the chilled soup was amazingly tasty and the swordfish was impeccable. Dinner for four with cocktails and wine under $300?... a terrific value!"

  • "Always reliable and innovative, great service, fresh delicious food and drink. Expect to pay a bit for good quality, reservations a must, even out of season."

  • "The Blue Point is a gem. They've set the bar high, but we've never been disappointed."

  • "Food was excellent as was service, snappy and efficient. The variety of entrees was exciting after eating at Elizabeth's Cafe for 15+ years with it's traditional non-changing menu. Portions were on the small size as declared by all in our party. Two guests had fish and one had sautéed crab, all which were excellent but small in size. Prices were acceptable but dinner for three including three salads, three entrees and three cocktails and one shared desert will easily run north of $200 including tip. Will come here again next summer unless Elizabeth's changes their menu."

  • "We have been coming to Blue Point every year as a date night with my wife during our family vacations for the last 12 years and it has yet to disappoint. Our favorites are the tenderloin and the crab cakes."

  • "Very disappointed after hearing so much about this restaurant. Turned out to be an over priced DINER. Service was very mediocre and food was slightly above average. Noise level was through the roof. Expected much more for the cost. Busboy practically gave me whiplash as he cleared the booth next to us and rammed the back of our booth while doing it."

  • "Had dinner at the Bluepoint restaurant while vacationing in Duck. Need to make reservations well in advance preferably online and before you get there on vacation to dine around 630 or 7pm. I went online a week early and had to settle for dinner early at 5:45 pm but it worked out great. The Bluepoint has a great beach atmosphere and views of Currituck sound. The dinners were all superbly prepared and delicious. My son had the pork chop and mac & cheese and it was a large portion and excellent. I asked the waiter for a recommendation and went with it- ordered the scallops. Best I ever had. Highly recommend."

  • "We had a fantastic meal. The menu as well as specials offered a great variety making it hard to choose. Our waitress was very knowledgable and offered opinions on favorites. I dined with two others and we all enjoyed our meals immensely. I had the crab sauté. It was very light for this type of dish compared to others I've had like it. We plan to include the Blue Point to our dining plans when we return to Duck."

  • "Great restaurant. The food is great, the service is awesome - we eat here at least once every time we visit the outer banks which is fairly often."

  • "Every time were in Duck, NC, we go to the Blue Point! It's a must! We got engaged in Duck and this was the restaurant before the big proposal. Good food, great environment. Service is good. Thanks Blue Point for making Duck a special place to visit!"

  • "We had a wonderful dinner at Blue Point. Our waiter was excellent and steered us to make all the right choices. Pork chops were fabulous as usual, and the beef tenderloin was excellent as well. Although they don't have a kids menu, they are willing to go off menu to cater to their needs"

  • "We were looking for a nice dinning experience on our last night in Duck after a long, busy week. The Blue Point was just the spot. Being in the service industry, I can be very critical when dinning out. Our service was excellent. Chris (?) was very knowledgeable on his specials and menu. Very likable. Food was great from the corn bread bites, the breads, to our meals. 2 of us chose one of the specials. The Halibut. It was prepared perfectly! 2 others chose the crab cakes which both agreed that they were very good. I believe in farm to table and thoroughly enjoyed the experience!"

  • "We vacation at the Outer Banks every year and dine at the Blue Point at least once during our stay. I'm not sure that we have dined there every year of its 25 years in existence but certainly over 20 years. Our experiences there have always been excellent. The food is always fresh and the dishes inventive. The service is always excellent and the place is always alive with energy. I would highly recommend an evening at the Blue Point."

  • "The Blue Point has been much better in the past. The selections are fewer, the desserts better, and the spirits more creative. This is what happens with over expansion and popularity with the masses. The once quaint gem with marvelous food has become just another busy restaurant in Duck."

  • "Made reservations- shopped on the little mall adjacent to BP. Entered on time and had a fabulous meal, service and evening. Wish I had known that their 25th anniversary was the following night- would have liked to join in the festivities wfd the 82nd retiree"

  • "We always come here for our first dinner of the holiday. It has been our favourite for several years now. I had the fried green tomatoes - absolutely delicious. And the best steaks anywhere. The potions are great and not too big. And the cocktails are superb."

  • "My wife and I got away to the outer banks for a night and made a reservation for dinner at The Blue Point. Everything about the experience was wonderful, and I even told my wife during the meal that it was as good as any meal we have had in our hometown of Richmond-I would even say the service was better. Our server (I believe David was his name) was exceptional-knowledgeable, attentive but not overattentive, and attuned to details. I especially appreciate the fact that the kitchen accommodated my vegetarian wife with a wonderful meal that was not on the menu. Usually the vegetarian plate at a fine dining restaurant is subpar, but hers was fantastic. My steak was perfect. Great experience and meal-support The Blue Point."

  • "There is a reason The Blue Point has been around for 25 years. It is a great place to eat with outstanding food and service. I can't believe I go to the Outer Banks s to eat a pork chop but Blue Point's is not to be missed."

  • "The food here was wonderful! After looking at the menu on line, we weren't so sure this restaurant was to our taste as there are a number of "different" sounding items on the menu. However we had a gift card so booked a reservation. So glad we did-the food was great and our waiter was wonderful and all of his advice was spot on!"

  • "I live in Richmond VA and even though this place is in NC, it is still in my top five favorite places to eat! As a point of reference on my taste, I have a mother who is an amazing cook so when I go out to eat it better be good because I could have just gone home for a free 5 star meal. The Blue Point's food is easily 5 star; unique, delicious, and fresh. Plus the atmosphere is perfect!"

  • "Disappointed I could not get the seat I requested for my anniversary even though it was open when we were seated. My family is local to the area and I told them that and still could not get the seat I was hoping for. We eat here year round, thought that might matter to a seasonal establishment. We also waited 17 minutes before someone came to take drink order or even welcome us. Waitress told us that no one told her we were seated in her section. I've eaten here more than a handful of times, food is always good, but the attention to service from the hosts is average. Especially when dinner for two is $200."

  • "Dine at dusk if you prefer unforgettable views of the sound and boardwalk with exceptional seasonal cuisine. Snacked on a seasonal items off the menu to start. Had the crab cakes which were made into twin crispy breaded balls. The texture held together and added more of a crisp texture than crab cakes I've had in the past. Also sampled the beef tenderloin to complement the seafood. It was cooked to perfection and seasoned well with just salt and pepper. The service was excellent. My one regret is I wanted to linger a little longer and it felt like our plates disappeared just a fraction too soon by an overzealous busser likely appeasing a congregation of awaiting diners."

  • "My wife and I have an annual tradition of eating at The Blue Point every year during our beach vacation and it never disappoints. We love grabbing a drink on their deck and watching the sunset while listening to live music. The service is great, and we have actually gotten to know some of the wait staff over the years. We love the food! This year the bone in pork chop was 3" thick - awesome!"

  • "We have been going to Blue Point since it first opened 25 years ago. It's gone through many changes, all for the better, in that time but one thing has never changed. It's never a disappointment. The staff is always friendly and inviting and the food is always amazing. It doesn't matter if it's the high season or the middle of winter, there's always great food and great people. Love, love love this place!"

  • "The Blue Point is our favorite restaurant on the east coast. The Outer Banks seafood here, with a slight southern twist, is wonderful. The steaks are wonderful too. Owners Sam Mcgann and John Powers have been at it for 25 years and they sure know what they are doing. We always go there when we are at the OBX."

  • "This was our first time to the Outer Banks and after a little research we ended up at the Blue Point. Everyone was extremely happy with their meal selections. Our server was extremely knowledgable about the food preparation and wine pairings. I loved my yellow fin tuna and would eagerly eat it again. The prices reflect the quality of the food and the staff - if you're looking for cheap and cheerful this is not the place. If you're looking for a good quality seafood meal, this is your best bet."

  • "Though clearly the best seafood coastal spot in North Carolina, ( and I have done all the good ones multiple times), Blue Point would be a favorite anywhere - California, Cape Cod, the Hamptons, Como, Amalfi Coast or Cote d'Azur - none better or more consistent. The food, the service, the scenery, and the ambiance. I travel plenty and dine well, but I am always excited to be back at the Blue Point. Edison (Chapel Hill)"

  • "Always a special time when we go to this restaurant. This time we went early for the back bar sunset watching, had a signature drink on the lawn. Awesome. we got out table, early actually, and had the usual great service. Waiter even re-chilled my Ketel One. It's extremely unusual when we order special that we don't love, but this time we ordered the chilled potato soup that was only a 7/10 for me and 2/10 for my wife. She said it was the only thing she ever had that wasn't a 9 or a 10/10. Oh well, nobody is perfect. But the main dishes, the Mahi and the sauteed crab were fabulous. The bourbon pecan pie with ice cream was so danged good, too. Still it's the best place down here, hands down."
