A word from The Blue Pig Tavern
The Blue Pig Tavern serves American cuisine-nostalgic, simple and fresh. Executive Chef Jeremy Einhorn has implemented a delicious farm-to-table menu featuring fresh produce, herbs and eggs from our very own Beach Plum Farm, located less than 2 miles from the restaurant!

In the warmer months, dine on our wonderful, secluded patio. In the cooler months, cozy up to our magnificent dining room fireplace. The Blue Pig Tavern drives its name from a gambling parlor sited at Congress Hall in the mid 1800's. Earlier still, in the 1700s, Elias Hughes operated a tavern for whalers on this site. It was the first tavern in Cape May.Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "We've been to Cape May many times, and to the Blue Pig on each visit. While the food is generally good, and the ambiance wonderful, the one constant is that service at dinner is bad, almost every time. I'm sure Cape Resorts has heard this criticism often, but it seems they don't care as it never improves. Unfortunately, after many years going, we think this will be our last."

  • "I was looking forward to the shrimp and grits that I had last time a year ago. They were completely different and not good. I even hyped them to our friends . The sauce not the same even though I asked if out was and the waitress confirmed it was. The shrimp was terrible quality. the whole experience was mediocre."

  • "My husband and I took our friends for dinner to Blue Pig hoping for great night. But the service was slow and took long with everything. But sometimes that happen. Unfortunately the food was not testy at all. The leaves from the salad were old and not looking good. The waiter didn't mind it. The childrens food was not much better. Old fries and too fried chicken. They didn't finish. You can get better fries at Uncle Bills. Plus the restaurant didn't have any vegetables for children. Not even broccolis. Before this bad experience I would recommend the blue pig. But after yesterday I won't come back there."

  • "Hotel restaurants more often than not are just ok. This restaurant falls on the very good side of those odds on the both ends of the menu spectrum. The macaroni and cheese appetizer had both adult and child appeal. Fish and chips were much better than what you typically get most other places - not greasy fried or oily fish. The swordfish was very well prepared and presented. The beer, wine and cocktail selection is better than average. The setting is very pleasant inside, outside, or on the porch deck. This is a very good place for more upscale dining while having something for the kids to enjoy."

  • "We haven't been to Cape May in about six years. This was always a favorite restaurant of my sons. What happened to this place? My son got the steak and cake, steak was fatty and crab cake was almost all breadcrumbs. My husband got the seafood pasta special noodles were hard and the dish was cold. I got the shrimp and grits which was pretty good. My daughter who is allergic to dairy, corn, and wheat was served scallops over corn which was an appetizer dish. We spoke with our server who spoke with the chef and told is they could do a scallop dish over squash that would be okay for her. They take it back and bring out scallops over brussel sprouts, not what we were told she was getting. Manager came to table and said he was sorry, don't go."

  • "One of the best spots in Cape May! Great for families, great food and lots of fun! Always make it a point to go there every time were in Cape May."

  • "We like that the Blue Pig is featuring some many ingredients from the Beach Plum Farm."

  • "Three adults and two children raved about this dinner out. Adults started with salads - beet salad was particularly good. Had a mix of fish (swordfish, salmon, fish and chips) and non-fish dishes (chicken and burger) for main entrees and all were flavorful and well presented. Desserts were great. Server was sweet and prompt. Ate in garden outside - quiet and beautiful. Definitely a restaurant I would go back to if returning to Cape May for a future vacation."

  • "The food was good. I had the farm raised chicken. My daughter had the fish and chips. We waited an hour for our appetizer which was very good. The deviled eggs. Our waitress was very apologetic but I was losing my patience after we waited another good 20 minutes for the dinner to come out. I would go back to see if that was an off night or not. This Restuarant was recommended to us by friends"

  • "food was just ok compared to other places in cape may, such as Tishas or Ebbitt Room only go back to sit outside, outside seating was awesome steak and cake was overcooked. staff was friendly"

  • "From the off putting handling from the staff at reception to the slow service and poor food my wife and I who had been there many times in years past were left to wonder what happened ... Very poor experience all around and will most likely not be be back... Very disappointing"

  • "I have been dining at this place for over 20 years. Lately, it has become hit or miss. Unfortunately, our dinner on Saturday was a miss."

  • "For one of the premier hotels in Cape May, I would have expected the food to be better. It was okay but nothing out of this world. The outdoor dining, on the other hand, was fantastic. I would have to say that the patio is one of the best in town. Great place to go after an afternoon at the beach to relax under an umbrella with a beer in hand. If I had to suggest one thing on the menu, I would pick the ahi tuna tartare. I would go again because of the patio and I can't complain with the service."

  • "This was my third visit to Blue Pig for dinner, which is always done very well. While the food was very fresh, the portion size of the swordfish and steak (steak frites) fell short. It was on the small size and I felt for the price it should have been a better portion, especially if you are only having a main entree and not appetizers."

  • "Always love the Blue Pig for breakfast, lunch or lite fare by the pool. However we tried them for dinner and had an awful experience. Slow staff, unattentive and took forever to get our meals. Highly disappointing."

  • "Such a lovely spot, but it took our table with 2 kids over an hour to get our meal. I also noticed another near by table complain about their wait too. Food was Ok but definate not worth the wait and we are pretty easy going family!"

  • "We had breakfast their. It was delicious. Servers were very busy did not get back to table often. Other than that everything was great."

  • "We have been dining at the blue pig every year during our vacation at cape may for the last 10 years. All I can say is that it has managed to become a yearly family tradition. The outside garden seating is beautiful. The food is consistently delicious and the service is professional and friendly."

  • "Fresh, delicious and generous portions! We always visit the Blue Pig when we are in Cape May!"

  • "The food was very goo but the portions were horrible and that is my biggest pet peeve with restaurants therefore I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone."

  • "We love the Blue Pig Tavern, but our service was absolutely terrible. We sat for a full 15 minutes before anyone even acknowledged us. We were tempted to leave. The food was good, but a bit overpriced. The beer list is terrible and they were out of many local brews. The mojito that was $10 was the smallest mojito we have ever seen!"

  • "Quality of food doesnt come close to prices charged. Dont recommend.even kuds mac and cheese homemade with an after taste."
    Dined on 6/17/2014
  • "The food and service was very good, the place itself is amazing. Price was a little high, but in line with the quality."

  • "We've dined here often and it is a good casual alternative in Cape May. We love the produce and chicken from their local farm and commend them for their farming efforts and the freshness of their ingredients. This was one of the slower service nights we have experienced at this restaurant and it wasn't particularly busy, so we weren't certain why our courses took so long to be served. That said, it was an exception to the norm and nothing to prevent us from our next visit. I recommend you try their locally raised chicken, it has been consistently tasty and well prepared."

  • "Took my niece to lunch for her birthday. We both enjoyed the macaroni and cheese for the table. Her crab cake sandwich was excellent as was my roasted beet salad with chicken. The only negative was the calamari my daughter ordered. The breading was too heavy and the dish was bland. I would definitely go again. It is in a beautiful location and you can really feel the charm of Cape May."

  • "I chose Blue Pig Tavern for a brunch with my parents and significant other very much on a whim. I had previously made reservations elsewhere in town, but cancelled last minute because I was uncertain it was what I wanted. The location and ambiance of the establishment was particularly important on this occasion because my 55 year old mother had never been to Cape May before in her life! The Blue Pig was absolutely perfect and I couldn't have asked for a better restaurant to start our day at. The entire serving staff was consistently pleasant and helpful. The decor both inside and out was charming and unique. The weather on the patio with the shaded linens was superb. And the food, well, I'll just say my stomach was more than pleased!"

  • "Stayed at Congress Hall and had dinner at the Blue Pig. We ate outdoors and I thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere. Clam chowder was excellent, had fresh strawberry salad, swordfish and fish and chips, enjoyed every bite. We could not fit dessert but everything sounded delicious. Service was great and very attentive. Can't wait to return. "

  • "The food was excellent. I had the salmon, my husband the hanger steak and my son, the meatloaf. The menu was somewhat limited. The service was extremely slow. The waitres was very personable but slow. We would most definitely return. This restaurant was great in addition to Congress Hall. Seems to be the "hot spot"."

  • "We took two of our older grandkids here and we all loved it! It was a perfect setting for them not having been in Cape May for some time: casual yet elegant, fun and historic. Everyone enjoyed their dinners especially the swordfish and the shrimp and grits. The kids loved the bread and couldn't get enough! WIll go back!!"

  • "Although the outside dining was very nice, I do wish I had sat inside to be completely emmersed in the dining experience. Oysters were great although more expensive that a lot of nice New York restaurants. Cheese board was very good as was the clam chowder. "

  • "The Blue Pig has a nice menu, with something for everyone. We enjoyed the chicken dish and the shrimp & grits dish. Both were delicious, with generous portions, a reasonable price and arrived hot in a reasonable time. The shrimp and grits were prepared a little differently than I am used to, with five whole shrimp laid over the grits and spicy sausage mixture, rather than bite size shrimp pieces incorporated into the spicy grits mixture, which is what I am used to. Very tasty! "

  • "Dinner came out right away. Shows everything was pre-made. Crab cakes were not worth the price - fried with peppers in them could have paid less at local dive bar. While dinner took 45 min. For what you are paying you expect it to take longer. Just not that great. Would only go here for lunch not dinner."

  • "We loved the Blue Pig and went for dinner, as well as brunch the same weekend. The signature burger that we shared Friday evening for dinner was ridiculously good. No condiments needed at all! This was our first weekend visit to Cape May and we would not typically go to the same restaurant twice but decided to try the brunch. Everything was delicious and the Bloody Mary's were perfect. "
