A word from The Blue Pig Tavern
The Blue Pig Tavern serves American cuisine-nostalgic, simple and fresh. Executive Chef Jeremy Einhorn has implemented a delicious farm-to-table menu featuring fresh produce, herbs and eggs from our very own Beach Plum Farm, located less than 2 miles from the restaurant!

In the warmer months, dine on our wonderful, secluded patio. In the cooler months, cozy up to our magnificent dining room fireplace. The Blue Pig Tavern drives its name from a gambling parlor sited at Congress Hall in the mid 1800's. Earlier still, in the 1700s, Elias Hughes operated a tavern for whalers on this site. It was the first tavern in Cape May.Continued

  • "Waited an hour before the appetizers The appetizers were good, however the entree's of Mussels (tiny and fishy) and the Vegetable Pot Pie (that had chicken in it) were not worth the price. They did take great care in our concerns and did offer us a complimentary drink, but this did not make up for the overall experience and lack of quality in the food."

  • "For dinner this time around, we decided to order a few appetizers as our meal. There were four of us, and the men ordered additional entrees. Everything was outstanding! We had the cerviche, three different salads, the meat and cheese board, mac and cheese, and the scallops over beet risotto - which was absolutely delicious! We love going to the Blue Pig, especially for the lively atmosphere! It is THE place to be in Cape May!"

  • "Went there especially to have Shepard's Pie. Had an early reservation (6:15) . Was told they were "out" of it. How can this happen so early? Limited dinner menu, but what they serve is good. Settled for shrimp and grits which was done nicely, as were the PEI Mussels. Wife had a tough time finding something from among the limited entrees, and settled for crab cakes...just average. She did enjoy the Beet Salad however. Decent bar food, good service. Pub like atmosphere, but with families."

While the food is generally good, and the ambiance wonderful, the one constant is that service at dinner is bad, almost every time. I'm sure Cape Resorts has heard this criticism often, but it seems they don't care as it never improves. Unfortunately, after many years going, we think this will be our last."

  • "My husband and I took our friends for dinner to Blue Pig hoping for great night. But the service was slow and took long with everything. But sometimes that happen. Unfortunately the food was not testy at all. The leaves from the salad were old and not looking good. The waiter didn't mind it. The childrens food was not much better. Old fries and too fried chicken. They didn't finish. You can get better fries at Uncle Bills. Plus the restaurant didn't have any vegetables for children. Not even broccolis. Before this bad experience I would recommend the blue pig. But after yesterday I won't come back there."

I feel that it would have been a fantastic meal if the food was served hot. I would definitely try this again but was a little disappointed by the food not being hot."

  • "We haven't been to Cape May in about six years. This was always a favorite restaurant of my sons. What happened to this place? My son got the steak and cake, steak was fatty and crab cake was almost all breadcrumbs. My husband got the seafood pasta special noodles were hard and the dish was cold. I got the shrimp and grits which was pretty good. My daughter who is allergic to dairy, corn, and wheat was served scallops over corn which was an appetizer dish. We spoke with our server who spoke with the chef and told is they could do a scallop dish over squash that would be okay for her. They take it back and bring out scallops over brussel sprouts, not what we were told she was getting. Manager came to table and said he was sorry, don't go."

  • "Hotel restaurants more often than not are just ok. This restaurant falls on the very good side of those odds on the both ends of the menu spectrum. The macaroni and cheese appetizer had both adult and child appeal. Fish and chips were much better than what you typically get most other places - not greasy fried or oily fish. The swordfish was very well prepared and presented. The beer, wine and cocktail selection is better than average. The setting is very pleasant inside, outside, or on the porch deck. This is a very good place for more upscale dining while having something for the kids to enjoy."

Had a mix of fish (swordfish, salmon, fish and chips) and non-fish dishes (chicken and burger) for main entrees and all were flavorful and well presented. Desserts were great. Server was sweet and prompt. Ate in garden outside - quiet and beautiful. Definitely a restaurant I would go back to if returning to Cape May for a future vacation."

  • "For one of the premier hotels in Cape May, I would have expected the food to be better. It was okay but nothing out of this world. The outdoor dining, on the other hand, was fantastic. I would have to say that the patio is one of the best in town. Great place to go after an afternoon at the beach to relax under an umbrella with a beer in hand. If I had to suggest one thing on the menu, I would pick the ahi tuna tartare. I would go again because of the patio and I can't complain with the service."

Our waitress was very apologetic but I was losing my patience after we waited another good 20 minutes for the dinner to come out. I would go back to see if that was an off night or not. The food was good, but a bit overpriced. The beer list is terrible and they were out of many local brews. The mojito that was $10 was the smallest mojito we have ever seen!"

The only negative was the calamari my daughter ordered. The breading was too heavy and the dish was bland. I would definitely go again. It is in a beautiful location and you can really feel the charm of Cape May."

  • "I chose Blue Pig Tavern for a brunch with my parents and significant other very much on a whim. I had previously made reservations elsewhere in town, but cancelled last minute because I was uncertain it was what I wanted. The location and ambiance of the establishment was particularly important on this occasion because my 55 year old mother had never been to Cape May before in her life! The Blue Pig was absolutely perfect and I couldn't have asked for a better restaurant to start our day at. The entire serving staff was consistently pleasant and helpful. The decor both inside and out was charming and unique. The weather on the patio with the shaded linens was superb. And the food, well, I'll just say my stomach was more than pleased!"
