Went here for dinner on new years eve, they had a preset 4 course meal that was so hearty we ended up taking home half of our entrees and one of the deserts. Tasty overall and were helpful guiding me toward gluten free items. Could be more creative rather than traditional with their lamb dish, never really understood the mint sauce combination. Worth a visit.

It was our second visit to Blue Lion, our first visit was mared by a very loud woman that insisted on droping the F bomb in almost every sentence. The family next to us had young children at the table and if I where them I would have left! Our second meal on new years eve came with a limited menu...My fault for not checking but I felt they missed the boat on what they offered. The steak cut was to large and had a layer of gristle that made it mostly inedable. Rated them a 4 out of 10 overall. Mark

We were visiting Jackson Hole for a ski vacation over the Christmas holiday and made reservations in advance for Christmas dinner. My wife and I both had the rack of lamb, which was excellent. I recommend this place to anyone visiting jackson.

In a cozy home that can be a tad crowded, but very pleasant vibe--used to be very noisy, but dampers were installed on ceiling that worked well; service smooth and polished--many of the staff have been there for years. Excellent food, and the rack of lamb is hand's down the best I've had anywhere; a tad on the pricey side for the cozy atmosphere, but well worth it

Took my family for Christmas dinner. No prix fix menu which allowed us to experience the regular menu. Enjoyed the grilled elk tenderloin, scallops special, Asian BBQ pork chop, and chicken risotto Florintine. Impeccable food and accompaniments. The four of us enjoyed the house specialty mud pie and Russian cream with raspberries for dessert. Memorable Christmas eve dinner but impressionable any time!

Get the rack of lamb!!! That is the most important thing you will need to order on the menu. It was delicious and the best I've had. Cooked to perfection and just the right about of crispy crust on the outside. The elk steak was pretty standard. Waiter service was lacking here. The crowd was on the older and family side, ambiance was quaint, warm, and beautiful.

    OpenTable Diner Since 2010

The food was fair, my main problem was that everything was drowned in heavy sauces that tended to overpower whatever was on the plate and the sides of vegetables that came with each entree were under seasoned. The service was efficient and the atmosphere was nice, but for the prices they're charging, I expected much better food.

Most of us locals know the Blue Lion well, both for its duration of business in the community, but also for its consistent excellent food and atmosphere. I had such a great meal there on Sunday, that I feel compelled to write nonetheless. There was a guitarist who provided beautiful musical background to the usual great ambiance. While the Blue Lion is known for its rack of lamb, there were a number of choices for Ono, so I decided to forego the usual and try the coffee/cocoa encrusted version. It was fabulous, probably the best Ono I have ever had, and I had lived in Hawaii for years. As usual, a great evening at the Blue Lion for a quiet intimate dinner.

  • Excellent Food AND Beer!
    OpenTable Diner Since 2010
    Dined on 11/9/2012
The Blue Lion was great, as always. The best part was having the bartender ask before I had even been there a minute if I would like a drink while I was waiting for my friends to arrive. But even better than that was the fact that the Blue Lion offered Zonker Stout, one of best beers made anywhere. Unfortunately, only a minority of bars and restaurants in Teton County, Wyo., offer a porter or stout, whether on tap or otherwise, and if they do offer a stout it's usually the macro-brew of stouts, Guinness, which is to stouts, what Budweiser is to beers - relatively flavorless and lacking body. And the bartender even walked around and asked me if I was ready for my second Zonker, which I was. That's why the service gets a 5.

The Blue Lion has long been a favorite of mine. The service is always great, as is the cuisine and the ambiance. I usually have the rack of lamb, which is by far the best in Jackson Hole. Their havarti en croute and crab stuffed mushrooms appetizers are amazing as well. We had the Harlow Ridge Pinot Noire, which is a great reasonably priced wine that pairs well with many of their menu items (it's a little too sweet to drink by itself). During the summer months they offer outdoor dining for those who would like to appreciate the great food with the fresh Wyoming air. The restaurant is an old house, which gives it that "European dining atmosphere" not found elsewhere in Jackson. We took advantage of their off season special; 20% off.

Blue Lion was recommended by the hotel concierge, we are glad we went. Nice atmosphere in smaller rooms. Overall, the food was high quality and well priced. Server was both attentive and helpful. While many reviews stated that prices were high, we found them to be very good. Entre price may seem to be high, but there was more than enough food to share between two people if you are also the types to want appetizer and dessert. Everything else is moderately priced. We did appetizer, two side salads, entree, dessert and 2 bar drinks each (4 total) -- less than $90. I wish I could do that in my neighborhood :-) If I ever visit Jackson again, I will definately return here.

My wife and I dined at the Blue Lion recently and were quite pleased with the experience. The staff were all quite friendly and accommodating, and the overall atmosphere was lovely. We decided against an appetizer (as delicious as they sounded) and were happy that we did: the entree portions were quite enough for us. The meats--beef, elk, and trout--were perfectly done, and the side salad--surprisingly--was a highlight unto itself with house-made dressing. Points for improvement were the sides and the wine list: the vegetables and starch weren't anything special, and the wine list was decent, not impressive. The bar was also rather standard (Maker's Mark was the best bourbon on the menu). Still, we would highly recommend the Blue Lion
