  • "My boyfriend and I loved blue grotto. It was our first time and James,our server,was very knowledgable and informative . He brought me several tastes of wine before i decided on a bottle. We started with calamari,i had the filet w/polenta cakes,and my boyfriend enjoyed the lobster and shrimp scampi. Everything was perfect. For dessert we had gorgonzola cheesecake,it was heaven. We cant wait to return and try the pastachio encrusted scallops!"

  • "Had the Pear Salad, and the Seafood Risotto. Food was great. We were never offered any bread while waiting for our meal. The room was a bit cold. Our entrees came almost an hour after the salad. It would have been nicer if there were a candle on the table."

She recommended the pistachio-crusted scallops, which I tried, and am very glad I did. Delicious! My wife had he gnocchi, which she also enjoyed. Desserts were also very good. All in all, a great experience."

  • "the menu looked incredible, but the food did not deliver. The salad was cheaply done and the food was bland. I got the seafood pesto risotto. the pesto was not flavorful enough, it definitely seemed they were trying to be cheap by using different ingredients - cashews instead of pine nuts. the seafood in the dish was not good. the shrimp, mussels, clams, and scallops were small, chewy, and not flavorful. my boyfriend got the spaghetti alle vongole. the sauce was good, but the clams were the same as my dish, small and bland. we were not able to have wine that night, but the wine list and cellar looked very impressive. i will not be going back."

  • "My most recent visit to the Blue Grotto was extremely disappointing. We (6 of us) sat at the table for about 10 minutes before the waiter even came over. It took forever to get both rounds of drinks we ordered, which the waiter blamed on the bar. When I ordered a few appetizers, the waiter suggested an appetizer that includes a few different items. I appreciated the suggestion, but the cheese that came with one of the appetizers was hard and tasteless. The calamari (which used to be delicious) hardly had any coating on it and was fishy-tasting. I didn't try the risotto balls, but they looked smaller than they used to be and not very appetizing. Our entrees were fairly good, but everything else about the experience was pretty poor."

  • "we were chastised for making a reservation close to the time which we arrived at the restaurant, but had found ourselves at a place where we were not familiar with the dining options, so we went to Open Table and made a reservation for 530 pm. When we arrived the restaurant was nearly empty, but when we asked to not sit in a dark and windowless car area, we were moved to a very odd table in a corner at the entrance to the servers area and kitchen entrance. When we asked to be reseated because we could not even sit across from one another in this tiny corner booth, the hostess chastised us for having made a late reservation and basically told us to accept what we were given, We did not, and promptly rose from the table & promptly left."

  • "Food was good service was not. We asked for crushed red peppers and never got it. I waited to start my meal but it never came so I ate it without. We ordered Calamari for starters. Did not come with a lemon. When the waiter came by to check on how we liked we asked for lemon by the time he came back with the lemon we were done with the meal. He said it was busy and thats why he took so long. It doesn't take long to grab a plate and put lemon slices on them. My friend was done with her drink and he didn't come by offer a new one until the he dropped off the meal. We barely saw him and he was barely there."

  • "We ate here twice in the last week and it went from good to not so much. First night everything (food, service, ambiance)very nice, food was delicious and everyone was attentive but not distractive. The second night they were out of my first choice meal (unusual for 6:00 on a Saturday) and my second choice, the house specialty, was out of the pasta it was supposed to be served with. I had cappellini instead and it was less than good; sort of a spongy feel as I ate it. Tasty, but odd."

  • "My wife and I stopped in to the Blue Grotto on our way home from travelling. We enjoyed our dinner very much, although it did take over an hour (and we were 1 of 3 tables seated). The only thing I would remember for next time, is that the vegetable side was extremely salty. I will be sure to ask for no added salt next time."

  • "Went on a Sunday night at 6:30pm. They were out of scallops which was okay, but also out of bread! What kind of restaurant runs out of bread? My dinner order of lobster ravioli came with only three ravioli, so apparently they ran out of those as well. Very dissapointing!"

  • "I've been here twice. The first time wasn't that bad so we decided to try it again. Bad mistake. We where in a room full of people but that wasn't the problem. The problem was this one waitress that was so loud.Everytime she came into the room everone needed to talk very loud so the could hear thier coversation over her loud mouth. The food was not that good at all. $19 for a low end Chicken parm. I waiter never came back to the table after servng us our dinner. We will not be going back"

  • "One of the most disappointing meals I have had in my life. Our friend who went with us ordered a pappardelle Bolognese as it was restaurant week and they were out of Pappardelle pasta. This restaurant happens to be on a place called Federal Hill where it is all Italian. I can't believe the restaurant couldn't find any pappardelle that's Insane!!! Big mistake as we will never go back to that restaurant again."
