We are now open and serving both dinner and weekend brunch!
Our menu is Modern Southern with a "nod" to tradition, fun, vibrant and all locally sourced. Our Farm to Table menu changes seasonally with many daily specials. All desserts made in house including our fresh daily ice creams. Our new space is "handcrafted modern" with contributions from many local artists even the tables are made from local pecan wood! Been to Blackbird several times for lunch and dinner and always been a great experience. However, this last visit, I ordered local trout and it was overcooked, with cutlets versus a filet type serving. The beef selections as well as other seafood choices has always been very good. It was not overly crowded, not sure what the problem was with this visit. We are very fortunate on Asheville to have many great restuaraunts and I have always considered Blackbird to be a Top 10.

I took my son for his birthday & 3 friends came along. My roasted potatoes were tough and dry. My trout was also over cooked. My asparagus was excellent. My son's steak was cooked perfect on one side and very over cooked on the other side. His mashed potatoes were very good. For the money, it was way below expectations.

We were all extremely impressed withe the steak quality. The bourban demi glaze was incredible. The vegetable sides were incredible. The desserts were ok but not exceptional so finish the amazing meal and skip dessert. The wine choice was excellent without severe markup.

As 2 couples dining at Blackbird, it was a disappointment from the start. We were placed right by the bussing station where there was constant traffic, clatter of dishes and a frenzy. It was Sunday night, The eve before Labor Day and it was packed! The street outside the open windows was very busy, which didn't bother me, but people walking by or standing out on the sidewalk smoking was a constant annoyance. The food and the waiter were nice, not exceptional or reflective of the prices. My husband loved his 8oz. tenderloin and would come back for the beef. The coconut cake was huge and was shared by two. Not sure if I'll return for dinner...

Based on reviews we were looking forward to dinner. Service was slow. Soup was served cold, sent back, served warm not hot. My husband ordered the pork chop with spinach and Vidalia mash, He seemed pleased with the pork, however the spinach was salty. I ordered tenderloin with corn succotash and goat cheese mash, the tenderloin was tough and the sides were cold. The atmosphere was nice, the restaurant was busy, it ended up being disappointing.

There were 4 of us @ our table two ordered the low country boiling which was over done. Dried out I told the waiter that the clams & mussels were very dry to the point where they were shrunk in size. He brought back only 4 clams which were perfectly done. But no more . I gave up. The food was a big disappointment when we even ordered the special. Dessert was not offered either.

First time diners at this fairly new "hot spot" in Asheville, NC. We Will return ~ great Everything! Our server and the rest of the staff were "on their toes" with service and friendly personalities. A Happy staff usually translates to a good experience for the customer. A definite recommendation to everyone and ask for a window table to take in the Asheville scene while you dine.

The server had an extensive knowledge of the menu and was able to answer any and all questions we had regarding the food. Furthermore the chef came out and explained a few of his specials in great detail and even brought them out to be seen. The food was absolutely fantastic and we left happy and very full with leftovers. Definitely a great restaurant to check out and if we are ever back in the area you bet we will eat there again!

Came here on a trip to Asheville and thought it was very good, though probably not my favorite restaurant in town. The cocktails were amazing, and the scallops were to die for. Wasn't as impressed with the shrimp and grits, and the surf and turf burger was good, but could have been a little better. The service was good, and despite there being two tables of (very loud) children right next to us, we still enjoyed the experience.

Dinner at The Blackbird was a surprising and a terrific experience of Southern style food. We are not meat eaters, so I want to mention that both the salmon with peach salsa and the snapper with lemongrass were both great. I heard that the coconut cake is to die for too. A window seat provides some interesting people watching.

The Black Bird was downstairs from our hotel, The Aloft, and we met friends there for our first Asheville dinner. I had an angus beef burger topped with lobster! It was delicious. It was also $18, but worth the price. My hubby had duck and loved it. We both enjoyed locally brewed beers with dinner. Beautiful restaurant and yummy food.

The restaurant is adjacent to the Aloft Hotel so parking was relatively easy - not always true for restaurants in Asheville. The restaurant had open windows which was great for the mild temperatures. The atmosphere was loud - not sure how loud it would have been with the windows open. The crowd was definitely energized and restaurant was full. Wait staff were very good. Food waiting time was average - I get the impression we should linger over dinner. Soup, salad, fish (trout and grouper) were excellent. Risotto had a good flavor - maybe a touch tough for my tastes.

Great atomosphere. Service was good. Mine dish was excellent. My boyfriend's however was not as good. They were out of lobster tails. Served the whole lobster and was told it would be cracked open and ready to eat. No need for apron. NOT the case. It was a mess and parts were unedible in my opinion. He is very good at eating that kind of food but had I been served that I would have sent it back. He was disappointed with the overall meal as a result of being told one thing and served another.

The food here wasn't bad but it did not wow me at all. A decent wine and beer selection, but there are many better restaurants in Asheville. We sat near a window which, unfortunately, was a gathering place for a number of flies. It wasn't unsanitary but not particularly appetizing either.

There were 3 of us, all seafood lovers. Even though we had a 6pm reservation, they were already out of the striped bass catch of the day, a bit disappointing. They did have fresh catch of red drum so we all went with that with different choices of sauces/sides. All were pleased. I thought the peach salsa on mine was exceptional - it's peach season here. There was confusion on our wine order, the bottle that was brought and opened was not the one we ordered, about $15 more expensive. We did not notice until we all had some and decided to let it go but not sure whether it was intentional or not. The owner is a dessert chef- save room for dessert! Ordered 2 and shared.... Coconut Cake and Sea Salt Caramel Chocolate Ice Cream. Oh My!

Food and service are always wonderful at The Blackbird. Though it can be a little pricey when adding cocktails and/or wine to dinner, we still think it is well worth the money. If we are dining with friends we try to go early, as the restaurant tends to be very noisy when it fills up. When the weather is nice, we really enjoy the fact that the big windows open completely up to the street. It is fun to people watch, and occasionally banter with folks on the sidewalk. The Blackbird has a great neighborhood feel to it, right in the middle of downtown Asheville!
