The BlackbirdGreat new restaurantEnjoyed this new restaurant in Asheville. The food was excellent ... My hubby is not an inventive eater but enjoyed the NY strip steak with a fabulous sauce. I enjoyed mine as well along with the red pepper soup. There were many exciting dishes as well. There was a great wine list and the desserts looked amazing. The steaks were large so we did not indulge.
Service was well paced ... Reservations are advised.
Only negative was the high level of noise and tables were very close together.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was the first time IThis was the first time I have been to this restaurant. Our food was amazing! Our server was great-he made good selections and was right about all of them except the dessert. The bartenders were awesome a d made us feel at home. Food was great , great atmosphere5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMSomething to Crow About!A guest and I both loved Blackbird for brunch on a rainy Sunday. The space is light and airy with minimal decor in lovely colors, featuring a wonderful wall of blackbirds in silhouette. Food was top notch; both the day's Breakfast Sandwich and the traditional Farm Breakfast were great - fresh-fresh eggs, creamy grits with savory seasonings, perfect biscuits and good coffee. And dessert - oh my. The Frozen Lemon Souffle was incredible, a tart and creamy cloud-like cylinder on a slice of corn-bread pound cake with blueberry. Amazing. We will definitely return.4/28/2013 12:00:00 AMLove it!The Blackbird is the rare combination of quality food and great service. The menu is fresh without pretention and offers a variety of southern favorites. It is my go-to venue for client lunches or with my girlfriends. The noise level at dinner has been distracting in the past but I notice that acoustic panels have been added, so kudos for addressing the issue. When someone asks for downtown restaurant recommendations, The Blackbird is always at the top of the list......and their coconut cake!4/23/2013 12:00:00 AMThree ladies in AshevilleThree ladies in Asheville for a Birthday Celebration had a awesome brunch Sunday at The Blackbird. I had the catch of the day which was striped bass and it came with scallops, both were delicious. I really liked the decor of the restaurant and the location was perfect for being in the middle of the downtown Asheville action. The service was great as well, I would definitely return again.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMLoved sitting by the openLoved sitting by the open window...beautiful day in Asheville. Excellent shrimp and grits!!4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMEverything was great exceptEverything was great except it was very loud, could hardly hear my dinner companion speak, or hear the server tell specials. Also, the seats were a little uncomfortable4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMSpecial NightWe had read reviews about Blackbird but WOW!!! it was better than what we had expected. It was Ann's 70th birthday and I wanted to take her someplace special. Didn't tell her where we were going and she didn't guess till I pulled into the underground garage. The food was wonderful and we were not rushed from one course to another. Beau was our server and knew the answer to all our questions. After two hours we left feeling we had been to a special place on a special night. We will be back many times and have told our friends how much we enjoyed our night.3/27/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was our third visit toThis was our third visit to the Blackbird and we are impressed with the consistency of both the food and the service.3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMNot very busy week night,Not very busy week night, relatively more quiet than when I've been there in the past.
GREAT server, who, because it wasn't real busy, as able to give us lots of time and answer a lot of questions.3/20/2013 12:00:00 AMRecently celebrate my birthdayRecently celebrate my birthday at The Blackbird and enjoyed it thoroughly. Very healthy wine list, creative cocktail specials, and a fun menu with a focus on locally sourced ingredients, which is what brought us to try it in the first place. Prices were fair for the quality and quantity of food. The restaurant has a great vibe and we went on a temperate night when they were able to open the large windows facing the street. Service was on point with good attention from both the server and sommelier. Don't miss the coconut cake!3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMThis restaurant's move fromThis restaurant's move from Black Mountain makes a very nice addition to the Asheville downtown dining scene. Modern decor with attentive and helpful servers. Our party proclaimed the scallops the best in town, if not globally! The pastry chef-owner has a triple chocolate concoction which was a hit with our younger diners. Fresh seafood and a creative menu make this a sure-to-return choice.3/10/2013 12:00:00 AM
