I ordered a classic burger and fries. The burger was perfectly cooked. They topped it with pickled onions and a smoked chedder cheese. That flavor combination was excellent, but did not overpower the wonderfully cooked beef. The fries were very crispy and well seasoned. Respect the burger!

My cousin, her husband and I found the menu selections at Blackbird Tavern great for appetizers and dinner. I had a hankering for comfort food and enjoyed a splurge of the short rib grilled cheese sandwich and appreciated server Rebecca's enthusiasm and recommendation for the side option Kennebeck wedge potatoes over conventional fries. The others had BBQ bacon burger--a very hearty piled high burger--and blackened catfish which was said to be a tasty more healthy menu option. We would be happy to return

The food was adequate, better on the menu than on the palate. Not as many vegetarian choices as we saw online. The hostess was a lippy gal who, when she finally showed up, gave us grief for not specifying in our reservatiom that we wanted a table near the music. The waiter was good -natured, but barely competent. Worst of all, the music started an hour and a half late. The group had talent, but lacked focus.

We have been wanting to try this place for a long time and it was dine about town week so we thought we would give it a shot. When we asked about the special prefix menu for the week our server had no idea what we were talking about, he also did not recognize a drink that we ordered off of the menu as one that they served, the night did not start off well. They seemed short staffed and the server was not trained on the menu. I asked a few ?'s about preparations of dishes and he had to leave to ask the kitchen. After we placed our order things got better, my rockfish was delish! The potato wedges were not great. They tasted like they were frozen and not fresh. That said, I will give it another try in the future based on my yummy fish dish!

Came here for SJ Dine Downtown. My partner ordered the Green Waldorf Salad, Steak Frites and Nectarine Bruschetta from the special, prix fixe menu. I didn't find anything appetizing from the special menu, so I ordered the Short Rib-Grilled Cheese sandwich from regular menu. The salad was unlike other Waldorf salads we have eaten; we think something was missing. My partner asked for the Steak Frites to be cooked medium, but it came out well/well done. The only good item from the special menu was the dessert. We both really enjoyed my sandwich. Good portion of short rib and cheese. Service was slow at first, but got better after our food was served. Outdoor seating was great!

Whenever my boyfriend and I have a date night, we go to Blackbird Tavern. The menu is simple food done extremely well. One of my faves is the trio of deviled eggs. Unfortunately, even though we arrived at 6 and informed the waiter that we had theater tickets, we never got to eat! We ordered around 6:15 or 6:20 and still had not received our meals at 6:55! Other tables who had ordered after we did were being served. Three different staff members came by to say they would check with the kitchen, then our waiter (who had been missing for at least 10 minutes) showed up and said that our order was second in line! A manager came by before that and said she would check with the kitchen to see what had happened, but never returned. There must have been a mixup, but nobody fessed up to it. They did, however, give us the wine on the house.

A convenient location and intriguing menu drew us to the Blackbird. Some of the dishes, such as the clams, were outstanding. Others were a little odd, such as the Cajun Potstickers. My husband liked them but I thought they were too mustardy, which doesn't even fit with cajun. Although both were billed as appetizers, the clams came with a side of garlic fries, and would have been a full meal for me. My husband's ribs, though tasty, came with a bizarre bread with wild rice stuffing that did nothing for him. My pork chop was delicious, though not extraordinary. The rhubarb strawberry dessert was good, and the Treat ice creams were fabulous. We'll probably go back, as it's definitely original and different.

it took us 15mins just to decide what we wanted to start with. There were so many unusual dishes that all sounded amazing. I LOVE CHORIZO, who serves chorizo without eggs or potatoes!! Everything we ordered was amazing, the beet salad the shortrib dinner, the chorizo meatballs and deviled eggs.. and even the spice mule in place of the well known Moscow mule -- it was a hit!!

The good things: the restaurant is in the middle of down town and close to several parking options and many options for entertainment are within walking distance. The dining area is very nice with large windows and seating is comfortable. The bad things: not enough menus and the ones they did have were dirty. I waited 20 minutes for my drink only to be told the bar ran out of liquor to make it. The food took over an hour to be brought out and was just ok. I ordered the salmon and it was slightly over cooked and under seasoned. Overall, we were disappointed with the long wait and blah food. If I'm going spend over 40 bucks for dinner and wait over an hour for it it should be delicious.
