The Black Sheep Restaurant At The Kendall HotelGreat spot in Kendall areaBooked the Black Sheep for a business diner. Staff were very accommodating and were happy for us to change to an outside table. Food was great. Nice, quiet area. Definitely recommended.6/15/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent meal/service/ambiance!My husband & I discovered this place via Open Table & we are quite delighted that we did as it is not far from our Somerville base. It was a delightful night to sit outside watching Kendall Sq. street life, & our dinner was excellent from start to finish. We recommend the crab cakes, salmon & sea scallops, plus the desserts of tiramisu, & custard w. berries. The wine list is certainly adequate, with helpful samplings if like before ordering, My sangria turned out to be quite large and refreshing. The only disappointment was the ordinary quality of the dipping oil for the bread choices, and that's certainly easily remedied. Its mother Kendall Hotel looks to be quite charming, & restoration of the old Firehouse into the restaurant is splendid!6/15/2013 12:00:00 AMI would have said the foodI would have said the food was excellent but for the too-salty Oysters Rockefeller which I did not order but which I tasted. My dinner was excellent as was that of the other three. Only two who shared the O.,R. had the too-salty meal.
Black Sheep is terrific and I would recommend it to all my friends.6/11/2013 12:00:00 AMCozy place with attentiveCozy place with attentive service and locally sourced food. Great hotel too5/24/2013 12:00:00 AM....historic buildingWe love the history of this building. We were given a gift certificate and stayed at the historic Kendall Hotel last year and enjoyed our time there. This time we returned to the Black Sheep Restaurant with the balance of the gift certificate and to enjoy dinner.
My husband ordered the Baked Cod entree and I ordered the Kendall end chicken entree - both were delicious. We paired our entrees with Cabernet Sauvignon and our waiter suggested with enjoy a piece of Boston cream pie (which we split and was just the right ending to our dining experience. We will definitely return to the Kendall Hotel and Black Sheep Restaurant in the future.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMNice patio but noisyI enjoy the Black Sheep for its central location in Kendall Square and the food is consistently very good. The patio is nice for being outdoors, but pretty noisy with Main Street just across the sidewalk. Service was fine.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMAnother nice dinner at theAnother nice dinner at the Black Sheep. Tables filled up quickly, and the small staff did its' best to keep up. We always enjoy our visits to this fine establishment.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent dining experience.Excellent dining experience. With the group I was hosting, there were several vegetarians. They were particularly pleased that they have several very interesting options available to them.4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had a great meal at TheWe had a great meal at The Black Sheep. The Cambridge Burger is excellent, as was the Fire House Taco Salad. There was a good selection of wine and beer.4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMThe service was very good,The service was very good, as always. The ambience is nice and cozy; it's a small space that always feels homey, whether full of patrons or not. Only complaint is that of the two filet mignons, ordered medium rare, one was served medium. Likely just a fluke, as both our steaks were cooked alongside each other :)4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMPleasant, small restaurantPleasant, small restaurant with cordial staff and good food.4/17/2013 12:00:00 AMA great find!I was eager to try this intriguing place tucked into the Kendall Hotel ... an old firehouse. I went on a Friday night w/ my husband and returned the next week with my girlfriends. I highly recommend the Kale/Rice/Beans dish ... and the grilled veggies w/ hummus appetizer. The cocktails are good as are the wines. All reasonbly priced. The room is cozy and the service is warm and efficient and patient. It's a great find!4/16/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat place for fire engineGreat place for fire engine lovers of all ages. The food was excellent and the menu offered a full range of selections, from full, elegant entrees to lighter fare. The restaurant is quite small, so we were invited to wait for our table in a comfy area which was conducive to chatting. All in all, a most pleasurable evening.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMSmall things come in good packagesMicroscopic dining room, but excellent food. Cute that this renovated fire station has Hook & Ladder wine.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMQuaint spot and will visitQuaint spot and will visit again on my next business trip when I am in town4/9/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was excellent, serviceFood was excellent, service was great, until we wanted to pay our bill - it seems that they wanted us to stay forever! Great location right on Main Street - good for people watching!4/6/2013 12:00:00 AM3rd time for us at the Black3rd time for us at the Black Sheep, packed crowd, we got the last table at 7pm. Enjoyed the tasty filet mignon. We also had the chicken penne, nice dish, wish it was more filling though: kind of small plate for an entree.
Ordered prosecco by the glass, and had the lava cake. Can't wait to return again soon!4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was excellent. VeryThe food was excellent. Very small, limited number of tables as it is in the lobby of the Kendall Hotel. I would recommend to most, though I would suggest making a reservation as there are a very limited number of tables.4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMLovely spot. Small diningLovely spot.
Small dining area, but cozy.
Great fireplace to sit by and have a drink.
Will return.4/2/2013 12:00:00 AMWe enjoyed our dinner veryWe enjoyed our dinner very much. The seafood and pasta tasted great. Location is cozy and fun. There were just a few tables filled, but the noise and chat from the kitchen were a noticeable disruption to us. I can understand the close quarters, but the conversations we had to hear from the kitchen through the one single door was unfortunate. I'm sure that at busier times you can't hear it... I imagine it would be hard for a kitchen staff to realize this and mitigate it. We still will return though. :)3/25/2013 12:00:00 AMWe loved our first time atWe loved our first time at the Black Sheep last night. Beverly and Parker were great servers, and the penne pasta was amazing. Also had the goat cheese salad, very creative tart. We look forward to being back soon! The old Firehouse building made for a fun walkthru after our meal :)3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMLittle quiet lunch spot greatLittle quiet lunch spot great for a relaxed lunch in the middle of hectic Kendall Square. Also great to have a glass of wine and talk in the quiet lobby, although I've never stayed for dinner3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMFreshly prepared salads, soupsFreshly prepared salads, soups and sandwiches---homemade potato chips, and great service!3/20/2013 12:00:00 AMThis restaurant is a neatThis restaurant is a neat place! Situated right in the lobby/reception of a boutique hotel, one might think it is noisy and crammed, but this is not the case - the very location makes the restaurant interesting and dynamic. The waitstaff is great, atmosphere is energizing, and the food is tasty and diverse. The latter helped as we were a group of 6 people from 13 - 46 in age, all having different tastes in food. The Black Sheep was a great selection for us for a Saturday night dinner.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AM
