Diner Reviews
  • "Went to Black Rose to hear a favorite band. Friendly atmosphere, good drinks, great service. The salad we ordered to share was very small for the price but very fresh and grilled chicken very flavorful. Coconut shrimp app was delicious, the dipping sauce could have a little more zip to compliment the sweet coconut crust. Band put on a great show, as always, and plenty of room to dance. Overall a fun evening and we'll go back for live music and to try more menu items."

  • "We went to Black Rose for dinner and to hear the band that was performing that night. The waitress's mind seemed to be elsewhere all evening; not bringing a 3rd menu, thinking the plate left by a band member (friend of ours) was an appetizer we'd order (we hadn't ordered anything yet). I don't know what she was thinking since she was the only person waiting on our table. We had to flag the only other waiter in the room a couple times (he seemed very attentive to his tables) in order to get our waitress back. I do want to say though that the food was good and reasonably priced. Get the wait staff up to snuff and the ratings will go up."

  • "We had another great meal the last time we were there. The unfortunate thing was that there was barely anyone else there. The food was tasty and service was great. We'll definitely keep going back!"

  • "Good for a meal, but the food is nothing special. There were five children in my party and it was a good fit for them."

  • "Went there for dinner and to catch the band. The food lacked flavor and was the worst I have ever had. The appetizers are good though and is the only thing I recommend on the menu. The band was great and made the trip worth it."

  • "Really enjoyed the band! I was there with friends and we had a great time singing and dancing to the music of The Second Chance. Looking forward to their next billing. Nice atmosphere, cozy and casual. Food was good with a plentiful menu, Nice neighborhood pub. Friendly staff. I'll be back!..."

  • "The waiter we had was exceptional, he was quite busy but still attentive and pleasant."

  • "Everything was just pretty average. The server was not very inviting so we went out of our way to engage him. He was pleasantly responsive. The food was okay. Several menu items were overpriced. The decor (black roses hanging from the ceiling is awful). I hate to knock any establishment in its early stages trying to thrive. I will return and give it another chance, perhaps when there is live entertainment. Good Luck Black Rose"

  • "We went for a PaintNite and got there for dinner an hour before it started. It did take a little long to put our order in and our food (all burgers) did not arrive until 10 minutes before the PaintNite started. Although we were a bit rushed, the food was very good and we would certainly come here again."

  • "The restaurant was very busy but the staff was doing a great job taking care of all the guests. My table was ready when I arrived and I was seated right away. The food was very good and arrived in a timely fashion."

  • "My boyfriend and I received a gift card to The Black Rose and decided to make use of it on Valentine's Day. Arrived early and decided to have a drink at the bar before dinner. Bartender was great, and the martini he made was even better! There was a live piano player that weekend for Valentine's Day which was also a nice feature. It came time for our reservation so we were seated. Ordered french onion soup and calamari for an appetizer. Both were okay, nothing spectacular. My boyfriend and I ordered our entrees off the Valentine's Day menu (surf & turf and smothered steak; not cheap), and that's where it all fell apart. Our meals took forever to come out and it was mediocre AT BEST. I had about 3 bites and decided not to pack my leftovers."

  • "I ordered the special for the night. Sirlion steak was flat, overcooked and chewy like a cut of liver. I could not finish it. They offered a free desert, no thanks."

  • "Unfortunately we tried a new place for Valentine's and it was not the best choice. Service was slow. The place was not packed at all but close to 2 hours before we got our meal. Heard a big drop of a meal and joked it was ours. Well 30 minutes later other tables that seated after us were starting desert while we were looking for our main meal. No word was ever said to apologize for the delay."

  • "Poor service and food, on Valentine’s Day, simply unacceptable."

  • "Made a reservation and took my girlfriend to this restaurant for Valentine's Day. We were sat in a back room with about 10 tables and the first ones there so it was quiet. Service was quick and painless. The waiter was extremely nice, probably the best service I've gotten out of everywhere. Food was average, nothing special although the PB&J wings were fantastic. I had the Buffalo Chicken wrap with fries. It was tasty but looked like something you get at Friendly's. Girlfriend ordered mango grilled chicken with salad and that was better. Dessert was okay but too expensive for the size. Everything was okay until I found out they charged me $60 for another table and was rude about it over the phone. Never going there again after that mishap."

  • "Food was good and the service was great. Only thing we didn't understand that the resturant was empty and we couldnt' get a booth just a small table in the middle of ther room. They said the booth's that were reserved were for Valentines Day. I had booked our reservation through Open Table for 5PM so I would have thought that would have reserved us a booth if one was open? So the booth's stayed empty the whole time we were there and were still empty when we left. Over all experience was good."

  • "My husband and I truly enjoyed our date night at The Black Rose! The food was great (LOVED the Mac & Cheese bites!), the service was awesome, and the phenomenal music made it the perfect evening! I can't wait for our next visit!"

  • "At first the night was going well. The appetizers and cocktails we ordered very good However, our waitress, was not meant for this shift. At first she was keeping up but as the crowds came in she began to become overwhelmed. Luckily our food came out as we ordered but we noticed a table of six next us left because they did not receive their drinks within 20 minutes. I never received my third drink because she forgot. We waited for her to come back for the check for over 20 minutes. We watched her run around with literally the "deer in headlights look." On the way out the manager walked right by us without even saying good night. The guys at the door collecting cover didn't say thank you or good night either. Service wise it was terrible!."

  • "My chicken pesto was described in the menu as having a "creamy pesto sauce". It arrived drenched in oil with pesto seasoning. The chicken in it was tough and overcooked (nuked?). The house salad was ok, but no bread or rolls were served with the meal, either. Our waiter tried hard, but was the only waiter for 29 guests at 8 tables during the rush. It's nice they have live music, but that was the only plus for us."

  • "This is the first time I went to a restaurant for Thanksgiving dinner. The staff was very attentive and pleasant. They were happy that we were there enjoying the meal with friends. Great selection of food. Turkey, crab cakes, fish, steak, veggies, desserts. Way too much to list here. I loved the fruit for dessert! Accompanied by piano music... soothing and fun. The Black Rose is the place to go for Thanksgiving. I plan to go again to experience the evening music and food."

  • "Listen to what other reviewers have said. We went for Thanksgiving brunch, and while I didn't have high expectations for the food, some of it was just plain inedible. Veggies weren't cooked properly, the chopped salad had no flavor, the fish was overcooked and accompanied by bitter spinach, and the turkey and carrot cake were as dry as cardboard. Nothing was seasoned properly. The only unexpected bright spot was the butternut squash soup- it was tasty. While some servers did appear to be cordial and working hard, ours was terrible. Even though we were the only people there for a while, we couldn't get what we needed and she was less than friendly. We won't return."

  • "Nicole was one of the best servers we have had there. She was on point and suggested menu items that we would have never tried. The food was delish, the new macaroni and cheese appetizer served over marinara sauce...."wow"! The band that night was amazing too. We will be back!"

  • "First time trying this restaurant. Seated right away for our 7PM reservation but the rest of our time there was very slow. Our orders were taken pretty quickly. Took about 30 minutes to get our salads and our dinners came shortly after 8. Food was just ok for both of us, but 't definitely not worth the price. A display tray of their specialty desserts prepared on site was presented, but we passed. They did look very good but I couldn't vouch for how they tasted. We will be back only because the voucher we went there to use, wasn't valid until the following week and we hadn't realized that at the time we purchased it. When we return, I think we will use it for lunch rather than dinner."

  • "Sat in a tiny table then moved appreciated that our waitress was just transparent you could tell she didn't wanna be there our food took so long but we did get chips and salsa that was just loaded with onions and we also never got our gift card which is ok because we won't be going back"

  • "The food was very good, including their peanut butter and jelly chicken wings. We tried them out of curiosity and were pleasantly surprised! We will definitely would go back just for that. Everything else was delicious as well. The variety and freshness of the beer was very good as well. The prices were a bit high. Almost $200 for dinner with 4 people including 1 Appetizer, 2 drinks each and the entree. The live music was very good accept it was too loud for the size of the room, brick walls and number of people. If was very difficult to have any meaning full conversation with our dinner guest."

  • "Great menu, great food and great service, from walk in to leaving. I've been there twice over the past few weeks and both times it wasn't very busy, which I find surprising. There is plenty of parking in the back. It's a great place to go for an early band/music on a Friday or Sat. nite. The bands start at 8 - 8:30 rather than 10 pm at other places, so you can eat and watch/dance with a band and still have an early evening. Great place and I hope they stay open and more people catch on, that this is a great place to keep around."
