The Black Horse TavernDined for Mother's day. MyDined for Mother's day. My wife's pan seared scallops were exceptional and the smoked pork chop my daughter had was big, meaty and smoky. We also had the fried goat cheese and smoked corn chowder appetizers. Both were flavorful and nicely presented. I would have given the food 5 stars but my filet came out on the well side of medium rather than mid rare as ordered and had to be sent back.
The kids menu alswas good quality standard fare... chicken tenders & fries and macaroni & cheese were both good.
The Service was attentive but a little slow between courses. The waiter did work hard to get the replacement steak out quickly and presented the table with a complimentary desert as gesture.
Good experience. We will definely go back.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMSpring Menu is availableThe Spring Menu has been introduced at The Black Horse Tavern.
The restaurant is returning to its strong roots of quality food at a good value. We enjoyed the Steamer Clams and Spicy Crispy Shrimp as starters. Our entrée was medium-rare Prime Rib which is now back with great flavor -- served with asparagus and a baked potato. There are many more starters and entrees that we're excited to try when we return.
As for the service it is very attentive without being annoying or phony.
What more could you want for an upscale dinner in Morris County.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food (loved the MacGreat food (loved the Mac & Chees) and our steaks were prepared just as we had ordered.
