A word from The Bistro - Biltmore Estate
The Bistro is located on the grounds of the Biltmore Estate, right next door to Biltmore's award-winning winery. Please be aware that you must have a valid paid estate admission ticket, be a guest of Inn on Biltmore Estate, or be a Biltmore Annual Passholder to dine on property.

The Bistro features contemporary American fare, served with gracious hospitality. Fresh, seasonal, and local ingredients are the focus on the dinner menu, which features premium steaks, impeccable mountain trout and seafood, poultry and lamb. Chef Paul Klaassen creates French bistro-inspired recipes featuring estate–raised products and locally grown produce. Gardens on the estate produce a wide array of vegetables and fruits throughout the seasons, and our extensive pasture lands provide all-natural, hormone-free Black Angus beef and lamb. Our Field–to–Table Program extends to include many local farmers as well as artisan producers of everything from farmstead cheeses to trout caviar. Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "Very much enjoyed my salmon dish, however my husband although he enjoyed his steak, felt the quality could have been better."

  • "The Bistro has a creative menu, well-prepared. It adjoins the winery. We were very pleased with our trout and duck breast entrées. The gazpacho contained fresh tomatoes and had flavor without being too spicy. We will definitely eat there again on our visit to Biltmore."

  • "The weekend we spent at the Biltmore was my fiancee's birthday and we capped it off with dinner here. Great wine (Biltmore's Reisling), great appetizer (Lobster Risotto), great entrees (Filet Mignon and Roasted Duck), and great service."

  • "Lobster risotto was great. And everyone in our party of 4 loved their dinner"

  • "Well. The chef made good the problems caused by his assistant cooks and serving staff. But. Very surprising and disappointing evening. I would suggest dinner at the Inn as a much better option. Sorry, but true."

  • "The food was excellent, the service outstanding. I have a gluten allergy and both the server and the Chef were very accommodating."

  • "My wife and I feel as if we have entered the home of dear friends when we enter the Bistro! Bobby is wonderful, professional and makes terrific pairing suggestions. Holley extends the same wonderful knowledge of food and preparation. My wife was reluctant to ask for sauces on the side as a result of recent surgery, no butter in her diet. NO PROBLEM!!!!!! And Holley and Bobby both remembered when we ate in their every day for the past week except one...went to Deerpark.....will not do that again!!!!! The Bistro management and training shows in the care and concern of the staff....many of whom have been there for many years.....we knew Holley from Chelsea's. Hope to get back soon!!!!!!"

  • "I was at The Bistro for dinner as part of a girls weekend getaway the food was AMAZING. We had the toasted brie, onion soup, and filet. We had a bottle of the Shiraz reserve and a sparkling wine with dessert. ALL DELICIOUS!! The staff was attentive, informative and gracious. We were there very late (last table out) but never felt rushed. There was even a shuttle waiting to take us to our car. I will visit again on my next trip to Ashville."

  • "What a perfect dinner to celebrate a very special event. The attentive service, exquisite food, and wonderful atmosphere brings us back to celebrate birthdays and anniversaries. Kudos to management for retaining a superior waitstaff and chefs!!!! The watermelon salad was a big hit!!!!"

  • "We had originally booked at the Bistro, but cancelled and booked instead at the grand dining room at the Biltmore Inn. It was wonderful! A beautiful place, wonderful food, and terrific service. Laina Holzman"

  • "Very expensive, but food and service were exquisite. We were celebrating a special occasion, so we were ok with the extra expense."

  • "The brie appetizer and the dessert (peach melba) were wonderful. Was not impressed with the duck or swordfish. Did not seem to have much flavor. We dined at several restaurants from july 3rd-6th (sunset terrace, the dining room at the inn at biltmore, etc.) and this was my least favorite."
    Dined on 7/5/2014
  • "Good bread, fresh ingredients, great setting...but with all the great dining in Asheville now, just seems to be a little tired and dated to be a special place to come dine, as it once was when we first moved to Asheville in 2000. Perhaps larger windows opening to take advantage of the view. Anyway, sadly this may have been my last visit to the Bistro until something new invites me back."

  • "The food was good. The lobster roll was fantastic!! Service was excellent."

  • "The food is always good at the Bistro. I had scallops served over creamed corn, roasted peppers and bacon. Very flavorful. Other members of the party had trout which they said was very good. An appetizer of baked Brie was delicious but more toast points would have been appreciated."

  • "The food and service were both great. Our group had 5 people and everyone's meal was served together, perfectly done and tasted delicious. We ordered trout, lamb chops, scallops and rib eye. We eat here about every other month and have never had a bad meal."

  • "We enjoyed our dinner but an appetizer was overlooked during dinner service. Didn't need it anyway since the dessert menu was excellent. The other reason I would recommend The Bistro is the fact you can have a conversation with your guests. This is a rarity in the Asheville restaurant scene. Thank you for a lovely evening."

  • "I can't say enough good things about the Biltmore! They FOH and BOH staff work hand in hand in providing guests with the best quality and service you could ask for. Our server was able to answer our questions about the menu as if we were talking directly to the executive chef himself! We were celebrating a good friend's birthday and our experience was fantastic!"

  • "We did not know what to expect having been our first visit to the Bistro. We were celebrating our 49th wedding anniversary and The fillet mignon was tops. Great decor!"

  • "The staff was very friendly and helpful. It was a little noisy. I thought there was a good variety on menu."

  • "We came to Bistro on 6/13/14. I mentioned it was our birthdays on my reservation special request. We ordered some wine and an app then I got the ribeye my husband got the pork special. He said it was good but not over the top. She came to check on us and I hadn't even tasted mine yet and told her that as well. 2 minutes later as I was cutting it a gentleman came by but i had just taken a bite.We also told her it was our birthdays when she brought our steak knives out. She came back to clear plates and i still had basically the whole steak left. Now sure I could have said it wasn't very good and a little fatty then most ribeyes but she really couldn't ask? Both tables by us were wished happy anniversary and brought truffles for them!"

  • "We ate at the Bistro during an anniversary trip to the Inn on Biltmore. We really enjoyed eating there. We had ribeye steaks that were excellent, although the portions were a little big for a travel meal where you can't keep leftovers."

  • "The flowers were at the table when we arrived and the special desert was outstanding. The service and the food was impressive."

  • "We selected this restaurant to celebrate our 45th anniversary. Our waiter was extremely helpful with the selection of the cheese plate (2 cheeses, date preserves, and honey). Yum. He also helped with the selection of wine. Next, the main courses were wonderful. Trout with greens and couscous and a steak dish for my husband. Imagine my surprise when before our dessert we were presented with a plate with 3 truffles and the words "Happy Anniversary" written in chocolate. We also enjoyed a trio of sorbet with my favorite being a coconut lime sorbet. A wonderful experience."

  • "From the name, menu and location, I figured this would be somewhat similar to The Dining Room at The Inn on Biltmore Estate, but maybe a little less romantic and a general step "down" in quality. Overall, I think this is true, but strangely a few items were more expensive--like the lamb. Perhaps it had to do with the sides, but I was a little surprised to pay even more at a restaurant that is much noisier and not particularly romantic. The kitchen is within view of many (all?) of the tables, which has something to do with it. Now, it was not bad, but a little jarring based on my expectations. Had trouble speaking with my wife across the table. If you're looking for a quiet dinner for two, choose The Dining Room, but this is fine for kids."

  • "My wife and I went for our Anniversary. Nice place which probably appeals to the older folk but also draws the younger on romantic occasions. My steak was under cooked, but was rapidly corrected to the perfect medium rare and it was a wonderful cut of meat, melting in your mouth. The grilled asparagus was outstanding. My wife had mussels and they were excellent also. An absolute must - get the Brie appetizer. They also provided us a very nice dessert for our anniversary that was scrumptious. Overall, the atmosphere is very nice, though I am not a fan of the current trend of the open kitchen with all its associated noise."

  • "Took my wife, 3 year old and my great aunt. Wife had the lobster Risotto with shrimp and clams, I had the Filet Mignon, my Aunt had the scallops, and the even had a pb&j for my 3 year old. Everything was delightful. Our waiter Russel was very attentive. finished off a wonderful dinner with a fantastic Creme Brule."

  • "Although the food was a little better than mediocre, the service all around was lacking. From the server to the food runner to the manager, I expected staff to be a little more charming but found them to be cocky and somewhat rude. The waiter literally came to table and said, "what do u wanna drink?" I guess I just expected impeccable service and food, but I was disappointed. Save your money and go eat at Cedric's Tavern. The menu is more casual, but delicious, and the service is great and not as stuffy and stuck up as The Bistro."

  • "Went for lunch one day on a trip to Biltmore and had a fantastic flatbread, great service, and overall good experience. Then we decided to try it for dinner since we are pass holders. Not the same experience. Service was terrible. Never got our appitizer and the waiter was going to bring it out after our food!! We cancelled it. Everyone ran out of drinks and we had to ask for refills. Not what I expect at $40 a plate. Food was just okay at dinner too. Not $40 a plate worthy meal for sure, but the duck flatbread I had for lunch there was amazing! May go back for lunch but not dinner, there are simply better options. I never give bad reviews but all the stars given were for lunch and so far I'm 50/50 on the service."

  • "While we enjoyed our dinner, it was no where near as good as our 1st visit about 6 years ago. The 1st time we went the food was the best thing we had ever put in our mouths! This time was quite a let down. Certainly not worth the high $$$ price. This time we went as a special splurge for our 20th anniversary, but the $ would have been better spent elsewhere for sure! "

  • "Our experience was perfect from beginning to end. The menu offered an array of choices to please any appetite. The food was not only delicious, but also had a nice presentation. Our server was Julie and she was absolutely delightful!"

  • "The food was not very good quality given the price. The chicken was dry and over-cooked. Disappointed with my first experience at this restaurant and do not play on going back."

  • "Spinach Gnocchi was to die for as an appetizer. I had the Pork Tenderloin and my partner had scallops. Both meals were great. It was a Wednesday night that we dined at Bistro, and it was not too crowded. It took some time to received our meals; however the chef sent his regards to apologize for the timing. We were fine on the wait as we enjoyed drinks and the spinach gnocchi."

  • "My fiance and I were at the Biltmore Estate to take our engagement photos and we decided on eating at The Bistro in the Antler Village and we are SO glad we did! The food was great, and even though it was a little higher priced, the food was worth it and the portions were a good size. We got the baked brie appetizer because we always order that if we see it on a menu as a favorite of ours and it was one of the best we've ever had. My fiance had the risotto and I had the lobster roll. I am from New England and I'm picky about my lobster rolls and this was one of the best I've had! Very delicious and fresh tasting! The strawberry and rhubarb shortcake was great as well! Great ambiance and view! I will definitely eat there again!"
