Fantastic meal on Friday! Appetizers of soup, crab dip. steak, shrimp with grits and pumpkin cheesecake for dessert. All with a good bottle of wine. The appetizers are just the right beginning. The steak is fabulous and the shrimp and grits are perfect. Server was very attentive.

Visited the Bistro several times, each time for dinner. The menu is varied and includes some unusual items. I miss the fried Brussels sprouts. The polenta with shrimp and scallops was excellent. Service could not have been better. I am looking forward to returning to the Bistro.

I love the idea of The Bistro, and the food is local, and pretty, and funky and very expensive. Took my son who was visiting, just back from Italy. Expected veggie medley with my swordfish/2shrimp meal - nope. Son had mahi/shrimp combo. Mahi was tasty, but waayyy over cooked - he left about half. His specialty Manhattan (glass 2/3 full) was $14.50 - as he said, "That's worse than Europe." Might try one more time, but maybe not.

The restaurant was freezing. The food was only okay - definitely NOT worth the money, and I have no problem dropping some cash on good food. Everyone at the table was charged $4 for a cup of coffee. The adult beverages we ordered seemed to have no alcohol in them whatsoever. One friend ordered a medium steak - only to receive a steak that was purple-red throughout. She asked it to be cooked more. It came back the exact same. The service was pretty good. Our waitress was knowledgable and appropriately attentive. Lastly, two out of the five of our group had stomach problems immediately after eating here. I don't think I will be returning.

I love this place! I come to Topsail every year and this spot is always on my list of places to go. The cuisine is creatively delicious, traditional southern style with modern execution. Our server was delightful and caring, and made sure our meal was wonderful. Loved the scallops and grit cakes! For dessert, the standout was the pecan pie bread pudding...just can't rave enough about how absolutely luscious it was! Only disappointment was the fact that they recently discontinued the fried brussel sprouts appetizer that has been a long standing favorite of mine. Literally best brussels ever, and trust me, I NEVER eat deep fried food, so this is a true testament to how incredible this appetizer is. Please bring it back!!!

We always dine here when in Topsail 2-3 times a year. Cocktails are fun and creative - love Pimms cup. Food always good - except the chips. They used to be my favorite thing but last two visits they were limp and tough, definitely not crispy. I won't order them again. Burger is delicious, but way too juicy to be served on a bread board with a hole in it. Service always warm and friendly. Wonderful addition to Topsail dining.

We've been coming here a while and each time the food just keeps getting better. Went over the weekend and really enjoyed the shrimp & scallops w/ risotto. The seafood was cooked perfectly and the risotto melted in your mouth. Also had the clam & mussel appetizer and that was delis has well. Topped is off sharing a piece of the pumpkin cheesecake. Oh so good!!! The service is outstanding!!!

This was our second time at the Bistro and I didn't think the first visit could be topped but it was. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, the staff are friendly and welcoming, the food is superb. My 12 year old isn't much of a foodie so I knew we found a gem when he smiled after each bite. If your on the island and looking for awesome food, top notch service, and a relaxing atmosphere then head for the Bistro, your taste buds will thank you.

The food was delicious. Definitely comparable to a 4 star restaurant in a major city. Only thing to get that 5th star would be upgrade the service to white table cloth, etc. But for a beach restaurant, this was a great dining experience if you're looking for high end seafood.

My wife and I went here on our honeymoon. We made reservations which are highly recommended as the dining area is fairly small and fills up quickly. Service was attentive and quick. Our waiter although not entirely familiar with the menu was very pleasant which we found to be enjoyable. We started with the crab dip appetizer which was hardy and delicious. I ordered the salmon with tea glaze, collards, and sweet potato medley and my wife had the shrimp and scallop risotto. Both were amazing and you wont find food with any fresher ingredients on the island. For dessert we had the pumpkin cheescake which put an exclamation mark on the evening. Overall a great experience and would definately return again.

This young restaurant is "food fabulous." The appetizer, the steak, the duck were superb. The vegetables were absolute perfection. The wine recommended to my husband was truly outstanding and my Manhattan "On The Rocks" was one of the best I've ever had at a restaurant. But the small, strip mall, conversion doesn't work for the restaurant. There was a party of six young "20 something" ladies celebrating something, and they ruined not only our anniversary dinner, but irritated everyone else in the place. No one in the place can get away from something like that. Also, this level of great food, needs a water view. They need to move to a better loco, ASAP!!!

Starting off with wonderful service from Katy to wonderful crab dip to wonderful Shrimp and Scallop Risotto, I am so glad we chose this spot for our one night out during the week! Our party of six also had a filet, the duck entree and two burgers. The burgers were voted "best burger ever" by two 24 year olds that have put away quite a few burgers in their young lives! We'll definitely be back!

This was our best meal while at Topsail for vacation. The guys had the pork chop special, and the gals had salads - everything was wonderful! Salads were fresh, interesting, and filling. The men loved the sauce with the pork chops. The bourbon list was the best we've seen, and the wine list covered all the bases. Our waitress was fun and attentive, but not hovering. Thanks for a memorable dining experience!

We attended because someone we know works there and we had heard what delicious food they serve. The wait staff was pleasant and knowledgeable. Our food was delicious and well plated. Although the entrees were expensive ($30), they were worth it. Their salads and soups are extra, but with the abundance of food on our plate, we did not need anything extra. We had reservations and were seated immediately upon arrival and service began just as quickly. We were not hungry when we arrived, but we ate every bite on our plates. It was indeed a good dining experience.

The food was delicious-pricing a little high, but worth it. The only issue we had was the tight seating..very tight seating. To get to our table, that was along a back wall row of tables, we literally had to turn sideways to be able to fit through tables to get there. We're not large people. Everyone could hear each other's conversations we were so tight. As a mattter of fact, the table next to us heard my friend and I discussing going for icecream, then they started talked about icecream, saying that we were talking about it and mabe we know where to go. Soooooooooo, great food, tight spacing. I hadn't been wedged in like that since going to a steakhouse in NYC.

Unlike some of the reviews, we had great service and thoroughly enjoyed the meal. It did get a bit noisy as the restaurant filled up, but we still were very comfortable. I highly suggest getting reservations. Remember that good food takes a bit longer to prepare. I would also like to say that there were not enough entrees without a bream base, which I am highly allergic to. We would come again as it is close to our new home

We arrived about 20 minutes before our 7:00pm reservation and sat at the bar. The bartender Katie was very upbeat, friendly, kind, and quick. She offered her opinions on drinks and dishes and was very easy and enjoyable to talk to. After about 30-40min of sitting there one of the hostesses came over to us to acknowledge she hadn't forgotten about us she was just waiting for another table to clear out. Awesome service, no restaurant ever "checked up" on me before to ensure they knew about my reservation. We had Matthew as our server and he was awesome too! Very friendly, funny, and helpful. The food that me and my fiancee had was the best food we have ever eaten. Not even kidding. 10/10 Perfect dining experience!!!! Thanks So Much!!!

Service was lovely but food was not good. We ordered two kids steaks and they both had a spicy seasoning that our kids could not eat. This was not explained upfront and they do not have a specific menu for kids. I ordered the fish special which was grouper fish and it was extremely tough and seemed more like monk fish. It was honestly disgusting. My husbands dish was good, which was the scallops in a curry base. But because my fish was so disappointing we left with a "bad taste" and certainly would not return.
