The decor is modern and warm. The
food and service were very good. The atmosphere was quiet and relaxing. The wine collection is extensive. The prices are reasonable."

Reservations not needed for this
upscale restaurant! It was pretty empty, but delicious, and the servers were very attentive. I think they may need to market a bit, because we would have never found this restaurant if we had not stayed at the hotel."

Food was very good. Loved the
music during brunch. It was a guy playing acoustic guitar."
Dined on 1/12/2014
Despite te food quality, the wait
service was terrible. He did not know the specials, soup du jour or the sauces on the dishes. He was totally inattentive."

The Bistro is a favorite lunch
spot for our business luncheons which I have expanded for evening outings with friends, as well. The staff are always very nice and professional, the food is AMAZING and the view, regardless of where you sit, is scenic. One of my favorite spots in the City Centre area."
Dined on 12/10/2013
The service there was outstanding,
the food was prepared with care and to perfection. The atmosphere was simply splendid. This was my second visit to The Bistro and I would definitely be visiting again."

Hotel Sorella never fails - I've
had brunch and dinner there and it's always delicious and we always have great service. This year we had our family Thanksgiving meal and we enjoyed a four-course meal that included butternut squash bisque, crab cakes, carved turkey feast with all the fixings, then had a delicious homemade pumpkin pie. Our server was very charming and the ambiance was family friendly, but nice and quiet."

We secured our reservations
arrived on time sat down at 11:15 a.m. and it was 12:00 p.m. before any waiter came by our table to assist us. The hostess was wonderful and provided us water and coffee but waiters walked right past our table, never acknowledging us or offering assistance. we had to flag someone down to assist us and he tried his best to make things better but by then - we were actually ready to leave"

The only thing I regret is that it
was about 100 degrees outside and a bit too sticky to have a drink outside on the roof. Would have loved to finish off the evening with a cocktail, will do so in the fall. Good food (I wish I'd ordered the steak, my friend lucked out with the NY Strip on a bed of yummy mashed potatoes with balsamic onions)."

Got filet of beef and it was
served just barely warm. Not hot. The bread they served was stale. Crab cake for the size it was....was def not worth $18. Had the Cucumber Pepperita drink. It had WAY too much cracked pepper in it. I mean I know "Pepper" is in the name, but this was just way overpowering. Waitress barely spoke English and was hard to understand. Bad overall experience and I doubt I will ever go back."
Dined on 9/8/2013
Just not sure if it was the
boisterous intrusion manifest by party goers in the adjacent bar--just did not feel that special. Service was excellent and food was quite good just not up there with the best in Houston. No standouts on the menu and all four entres and all four appetizers we had were all solid. I suppose I was hoping that the Brennan family's reputation would be bolstered here not just sustained."
Dined on 8/31/2013
Had a great sunday brunch. I had
worried that the The Sorella omelette with Egg whites, spinach and Chicken might be dry, but is was actually very succulent and tasty. Live light jazz band playing in background. Really classy."

My husband and I enjoyed coming to
The Bistro for a Restaurant Week Lunch. Nice menu choice and the service was quite good. Tall ceilings and attractive decor. Free valet parking was a bonus! We would recommend as a place for just a really pleasant dining experience."

........My boyfriend and I dined
at sorrella bistro to celebrate his birthday on a tuesday and so were many other groups which lead to long delays for meals........I was also hoping to surprise my boyfriend with atleast a cheesecake to celebrate his birthday which never occured as the kitchen was backed up as per our server who was pretty courteous except for the fact he had to make nuerous apologies for the restaurants inadequacies.............the whole experience was pretty much average as compared to most of the restaurants we have been to ...........I expected a lot being my first time. Pretty much ok.......hopefully better in the future"

Went with a friend during HRW, but
decided to order off the regular lunch menu, since the HRW menu seemed boring and uninspired to us. Ordered the crab salad with fried green tomatoes. Salad greens were fresh and the crab seemed fresh also. The fried green tomatoes were food-service mass-produced, tasteless and not edible. My friend had a hot sandwich of some kind that I can't recall. It was served with fried avocado slices. Didn't taste the sandwich. but did try the avocado - it was okay, although under seasoned. Both of our glasses of wine were not chilled to proper temperature, but our waiter replaced them both, without charge. The wait staff was very good, and most pleasant. Not the quality of food we expected, so probably won't return."

Lacked atmosphere. Slow
prefunctionary service. Food was excellent but unfortunately we wont be rushing back and the impression is the staff wouldnt care either way."
Dined on 8/9/2013
.. Enjoy live music at the bar and
the pool balcony with a view to city square instead. The restaurant serves good food, the service is great. However gray walls and echoing empty hall makes it feel cold and unwelcome. But the bar and pool side are worth the visit."

Some old friends and I gathered
for a celebratory lunch. We were extremely pleased by the serenity of the restaurant. No noise and no children. We were able to catch up, reminisce, and celebrate without having to elevate our voices above the music and crowd. The food and service were outstanding. The Bistro is a well-kept secret. I don't want to spoil its charm and appeal by saying it wasn't too crowded, which is what we found most appealing."
Dined on 8/6/2013
The service was impeccable. The
food was very, very well prepared. I am incredibly picky about everything and I really enjoyed our visit to The Bistro. The waiter recommended a great wine, which I enjoyed very much. I highly recommend this restaurant as a great place to unwind and relax with a great meal. The Bisto is quiet and the seating is private enough to be romantic, but not so much that you will be uncomfortable having dinner with friends."
Dined on 8/2/2013
Wouldn't make a special trip to go
there. A little over priced. Got two drinks each, two appetizers, and spent $75. Had to look twice to make sure it was my ticket."

We had an early dinner before
going to Country Playhouse for their second to last production before closing for a complete rebuild. It was a delightful experience! Since it was early, there were only a few other diners, which made it very quiet, and there was no one competing for the attention of our waiter. He suggested -- and we decided to try -- the new-to-the-restaurant sous vide strip steak. It was amazingly tender and delicious! Since we live in Midtown and don't often dine that far outside the Loop, we are not likely to try BistroAlex again soon; after all Brennan's is in walking distance of our home; but we are looking forward to the reopening of Country Playhouse in 2014 so we can try BistroAlex again."

We had a tasty lunch, high-priced
for our budget, but we were entertaining a friend on her birthday; we splurged. Appetizer and entrees were great; desserts ordinary (is Tres Leches on every menu in Houston?) Our personable server was not overly competent. When he brought our food, he had no idea who ordered what. When 3 people order $120 worth of food, I expect impeccable service, especially since we were the only diners in the restaurant. Having a computer problem, the server went for the manager to help print our check. It took him 25 minutes to find the manager. I was fit to be tied. The manager, however, only charged us half. That's service that makes you want to return. This was our second trip there, and it won't be our last."

Although it was very busy, the
waiters were super kind, efficient and nice!"
Dined on 7/13/2013
The service was unfortunate and
the drinks were TERRIBLE. However, it is a beautiful restaurant and the food was delicious."
Dined on 7/5/2013
Lots of potential with great menu,
but dishes lacked seasoning and labor. Service low for high priced experience"
Dined on 5/26/2013
Our experience overall was great.
Decor is sharp and modern. Service was good and the food was outstanding. Everything had great flavor and the portions were just right. Not the tiny meals you get some places. Only drawback was the band playing in the bar next door. Couldn't miss the noise coming through the glass walls."
Dined on 6/21/2013
It was quiet when we arrived and
never got overly busy. The food was DELICIOUS and so was the presentation. I'm not sure if the service was just a tad slow or if the server was just being overly polite. There were 5 in our party and we were all busy talking to each other, catching up, so I'd like to think she just sensed that we needed more time to decide and visit. That's the ONLY reason the service got a 4 star. It's a very modern but comfortable interior. Much like a South Beach location. I would definitely go again and recommend to friends and family. There is also free, multi story parking right next door. I did not review the wine list. The bar downstairs was closed but I would assume it would be very vibrant when open."
Dined on 6/7/2013
Our brunch was excellent. Loved
the Croque Madame! Service was attentive, but one item did not come until we were finished with our entree. Live music was nice. I will return and recommend this restaurant to friends."
Dined on 6/2/2013
Decent service; fairly interesting
menu; nice décor, but there's just not anyone there, and this is a coupla hundred yards from restaurants just teeming with patrons, like Ruggles Green, Brio, etc. Teeming. Gotta hurt. I took a client there for a business lunch and was embarrassed that ours was maybe one of two occupied tables. If you can't thrive in that environment, you might wanna consider Plan B. I'm thinking that this is what the restaurants will look like that the rich zombies will go to after the apocalypse and everyone else is gone. It's very nice. Just lonely. Really good steak salad."
Dined on 5/29/2013
I was looking for a location for a
business dinner and this place is wonderful for personal or business."
Dined on 5/30/2013
Great food and service. We loved
it for our anniversary!"
Dined on 6/2/2013
Surprised to find out that Alex
Brennan was no longer affiliated with this restaurant named after him......a little weary that the hotel now owns & operates it. However, very delighted with our dinner & service. Considering how busy this place was on Saturday night, the service was quick. The drinks were delivered fast even though we were told it may take more time since the mixed drinks are served from down stairs but our waiter was great! The food was yummy, loved the beet salad & the fried oysters! All in all, a great evening."
Dined on 5/19/2013
The restaurant has a a romantic
ambiance. The food has great presentation but the taste was mediocre. The hostess, manager and waiter were very friendly and accommodating but the service was horribly slow."
Dined on 5/13/2013
Overall Bistro Alex was a very
nice dining experience. The atmosphere and ambiance were just what you would expect in a fine dining establishment. My one point of concern was the food portions and overall taste of some of the dishes did not meet our expectations with regards to other restaurants that you would associated with this category of dining(e.g. Perry's, Vic and Anthony's, etc.). In Houston there are just too many fine dining establishments who over more of an overall dining experience for these price points that Bistro Alex failed to provide."
Dined on 5/11/2013
We hadn't been here in a while, as
we had been trying other restaurants, but it was nice to rediscover Bistro Alex. Great service and excellent food."
Dined on 5/11/2013
The food was good, but not great.
Certainly not what I would expect for the price. My friend ordered the pork chop medium, but it was much closer to well done. The flavor was good, but it was overcooked. The strip was good, but not spectacular, though it was cooked a perfect medium-rare. The desserts are worth going back to have again. We had the chocolate cake and the lemon tart. Both were delicious. I won't be back for dinner, but I will be back for dessert."
Dined on 5/8/2013
Crabcake did not taste fresh and
the ribeye was very fatty & chewy. We left dissappointed and will not go back."
Dined on 4/25/2013
We went for Sunday lunch. The
service was super slow and we are not a group of complainers, but felt the need to complain to the management when the 2 tables beside us were both served ahead of us. The food was okay, certainly not worth the wait. I had heard good things about the restaurant and was disappointed"
Dined on 4/20/2013
Good food and good ambiance.
Service a little uneven but tolerable. Prices typical for type of restaurant."
Dined on 4/21/2013
The food was pretty good, but I
thought the salads were way overpriced. The crab cakes are so delicious, it's ridiculous. The prices for the other items are also a bit overpriced, but I suppose you pay for the view (it's next to a lovely rooftop pool) and the area."
