  • "I stayed at the nice Sorella hotel due to a fabulous Saturday wedding held in the main ball room. I made reservations for Sunday brunch at the bistro, to celebrate my nephew's graduation. I had many choices but it was the convenience of being in the hotel that made me choose the bistro. Unfortunately, it was not what I expected. It was a la carte limited menu. Despite of the advanced reservations, the table was not ready. The overall experience was sub-optimal . Sorry. "

  • "This hotel restaurant is not very well known and it is usually easy to get a table here even without a reservation. The best part is the food. The menu is not large but the quality is very good. I have eaten most menu items and have never been disappointed (except when they took the Duck Confit off the menu). I keep going back because of the food and the atmosphere. It can be a romantic spot and I like the decor of the place as well."

  • "Took 20 minutes before receiving any real service. Sat w/o menus more than 10 minutes & then we had to ask for drink & wine menus. Daughter ordered steak with mushrooms on side - came out on top in sauce. Ordered 2009 bottle of wine; brings 2011 bottle w/o mentioning vintage. (This is happening in many restaurants; they should at least tell you.) And forget him EVER coming around to refill wine glasses.... Lighting in the restaurant is too bright & noise level once the band started was way loud. (Bar & restaurant share a bathroom & every time someone walked out to the restroom from the restaurant it was super loud.) While the food was good, that is the only positive about the restaurant so I would not recommend this place."

  • "Hotel Sorella never fails - I've had brunch and dinner there and it's always delicious and we always have great service. This year we had our family Thanksgiving meal and we enjoyed a four-course meal that included butternut squash bisque, crab cakes, carved turkey feast with all the fixings, then had a delicious homemade pumpkin pie. Our server was very charming and the ambiance was family friendly, but nice and quiet."

  • "We secured our reservations arrived on time sat down at 11:15 a.m. and it was 12:00 p.m. before any waiter came by our table to assist us. The hostess was wonderful and provided us water and coffee but waiters walked right past our table, never acknowledging us or offering assistance. we had to flag someone down to assist us and he tried his best to make things better but by then - we were actually ready to leave"

Would have loved to finish off the evening with a cocktail, will do so in the fall. Good food (I wish I'd ordered the steak, my friend lucked out with the NY Strip on a bed of yummy mashed potatoes with balsamic onions)."

  • "Got filet of beef and it was served just barely warm. Not hot. The bread they served was stale. Crab cake for the size it was....was def not worth $18. Had the Cucumber Pepperita drink. It had WAY too much cracked pepper in it. I mean I know "Pepper" is in the name, but this was just way overpowering. Waitress barely spoke English and was hard to understand. Bad overall experience and I doubt I will ever go back."

Service was excellent and food was quite good just not up there with the best in Houston. No standouts on the menu and all four entres and all four appetizers we had were all solid.   • "........My boyfriend and I dined at sorrella bistro to celebrate his birthday on a tuesday and so were many other groups which lead to long delays for meals........I was also hoping to surprise my boyfriend with atleast a cheesecake to celebrate his birthday which never occured as the kitchen was backed up as per our server who was pretty courteous except for the fact he had to make nuerous apologies for the restaurants inadequacies.............the whole experience was pretty much average as compared to most of the restaurants we have been to ...........I expected a lot being my first time. Pretty much ok.......hopefully better in the future"

  • "Went with a friend during HRW, but decided to order off the regular lunch menu, since the HRW menu seemed boring and uninspired to us. Ordered the crab salad with fried green tomatoes. Salad greens were fresh and the crab seemed fresh also. The fried green tomatoes were food-service mass-produced, tasteless and not edible. My friend had a hot sandwich of some kind that I can't recall. It was served with fried avocado slices. Didn't taste the sandwich. but did try the avocado - it was okay, although under seasoned. Both of our glasses of wine were not chilled to proper temperature, but our waiter replaced them both, without charge. The wait staff was very good, and most pleasant. Not the quality of food we expected, so probably won't return."

  • "Some old friends and I gathered for a celebratory lunch. We were extremely pleased by the serenity of the restaurant. No noise and no children. We were able to catch up, reminisce, and celebrate without having to elevate our voices above the music and crowd. The food and service were outstanding. The Bistro is a well-kept secret. I don't want to spoil its charm and appeal by saying it wasn't too crowded, which is what we found most appealing."

  • "The service was impeccable. The food was very, very well prepared. I am incredibly picky about everything and I really enjoyed our visit to The Bistro. The waiter recommended a great wine, which I enjoyed very much. I highly recommend this restaurant as a great place to unwind and relax with a great meal. The Bisto is quiet and the seating is private enough to be romantic, but not so much that you will be uncomfortable having dinner with friends."

  • "We had an early dinner before going to Country Playhouse for their second to last production before closing for a complete rebuild. It was a delightful experience! Since it was early, there were only a few other diners, which made it very quiet, and there was no one competing for the attention of our waiter. He suggested -- and we decided to try -- the new-to-the-restaurant sous vide strip steak. It was amazingly tender and delicious! Since we live in Midtown and don't often dine that far outside the Loop, we are not likely to try BistroAlex again soon; after all Brennan's is in walking distance of our home; but we are looking forward to the reopening of Country Playhouse in 2014 so we can try BistroAlex again."

  • "We had a tasty lunch, high-priced for our budget, but we were entertaining a friend on her birthday; we splurged. Appetizer and entrees were great; desserts ordinary (is Tres Leches on every menu in Houston?) Our personable server was not overly competent. When he brought our food, he had no idea who ordered what. When 3 people order $120 worth of food, I expect impeccable service, especially since we were the only diners in the restaurant. Having a computer problem, the server went for the manager to help print our check. It took him 25 minutes to find the manager. I was fit to be tied. The manager, however, only charged us half. That's service that makes you want to return. This was our second trip there, and it won't be our last."

  • "It was quiet when we arrived and never got overly busy. The food was DELICIOUS and so was the presentation. I'm not sure if the service was just a tad slow or if the server was just being overly polite. There were 5 in our party and we were all busy talking to each other, catching up, so I'd like to think she just sensed that we needed more time to decide and visit. That's the ONLY reason the service got a 4 star. It's a very modern but comfortable interior. Much like a South Beach location. I would definitely go again and recommend to friends and family. There is also free, multi story parking right next door. I did not review the wine list. The bar downstairs was closed but I would assume it would be very vibrant when open."
