As long as you and your dining guests are adventurous, then this is a great place to visit. My party was a bit more traditional, so after enjoying absolutely WONDERFUL cocktails from Bent Brick, we went to one of our favorite restaurants for dinner.

Food was fantastic! Marvelous presentation, creative with ingredients and delicious! But if dont plan on leaving with a full belly! After eating just about everything on the menu, I was more hungry than when we sat down, and ended up going down the street for a burger.

Wow. In Portland for a weekend with friends. Wanted something fabulous (we were in Portland!) but not fussy. Picked Bent Brick as I'd heard good things about it's sister restaurant Park Kitchen. We felt adventurous, so focused on dishes that were out of some folks comfort zone. Pigs ear: the most delicious crunchy pork-croutons ever. Sweetbreads: (which always make me wince a little)OMFG. To die for. House cured ham: one, then two, then three...finally FOUR orders. Great casual atmosphere, cocktails a star as well. Have told all my friends to try it next time they're in town.

We loved the atmosphere and ambiance of this restaurant. The brick walls and ivy laced windows made for a cozy and comfortable evening. The wait staff was attentive and friendly. We enjoyed experimenting with the different menu items; smoked albacore with nettles, but especially liked the more traditional lamb with beets and pork and rice dishes. For dessert we chose the charros w/chocolate, and the raisin cake with celery gelato-- they were delicious! The menu is divided into snacks, small plates and large plates, and they recommend that you order several plates to share. The portions are not large, but they are delicious and that somehow justifies the expense.

IMHO Bent Brick appeals to a rather niche group of which I am not a part. Small, limited menu emphasizing uncommon items such as sweetbreads (I'm admittedly not a fan of organ meats), chicken liver (in the form of ravioli) and squid in sometimes surprising combinations. Nothing wrong with experimentation, but it can be extreme at times. I had a hard time putting together three menu items that I WANTED to try. Portions are very small, and when all is said and done the meal ends up being very expensive. On the other hand the room is wonderful, service is very friendly, and the wine selection very interesting.
After we left Bent Brick, my dining partner and I went to Papa Hayden for dessert! We came close to having a second dinner!

They dry-ish raisin bread dessert and celery sorbet were individually good but not together, kinda brought an anti-climactic end to the meal. The sun-choke appetizer was very flavorful considering its origins, and the rest of the meal popped with the occasional unexpected burst of aromatics. Would definitely return for a second opinion.

Go with people you want to share food with. The plates are small, but delicious, so it's a savoring place ....... Not a place to stuff your face and fill a void in your belly. The four of us loved it and with six cocktails and a mix of small and large plates we left feeling very satisfied and a bill of $50 each with tip.

I booked the Bent Brick as a last minute Valentine's Dinner, and I have to say, the whole experience was outstanding:-
A clever menu selection - choose 2 out of 3 for appetizer, small plate & large plate was narrow but all the choices were excellent.
I have eaten at many restaurants over the years, and in many different places, but this is the first time in ages that I can remember being genuinely surprised by the flavours & by an intelligent combination of textures using the same ingredient. An exceptional meal & good value too. I'll definitely be back
