Strangely, I loved the fabric on my sofa-seat!!!! The steak was juicy and perfectly cooked and the service was tremendous. Our waiter was very knowledgeable and made my first visit excellent. The food was delicious and I am surely going to return to try other dishes. The atmosphere was very quiet and cozy. Wine list with famous labels but so overpriced we just ordered two glasses. (My wife is a wine collector who is quite knowledgeable). The service and food are always outstanding, (as were the drinks we had in the bar beforehand). At one point, the manager even stopped by to make sure that everything was excellent. It was. The Belvedere Room is probably at the top or very near it for the region. The staff does a good job, and the food seems fresh and is well prepared. The ambiance is trendy, yet subdued. The menu, service and presentation exceeds any experience I've had in Bakersfield, more indicative of restaurants you find in cities like S.F, N.Y., or L.A. This place was perfect. It was small, quaint, lighting was romantic. Couldn't ask for a better place. The food was amazing! The wine list was superb. However, the noise from the bar spilled over into the dining room which was so loud that we could not talk to each other at our table. The bar is across the entry/salon area of the hotel, a bit of a distance. There wasn't much communication at our table which was kinda sad since it was a birthday dinner. The acoustics left little to be desired. This was one of the best meals we have had in the past two years, and we've dined at some of the best of NYC, L. A. and S.F. My boyfriend and I went to celebrate our 2 year anniversary, and I've not had food this good since our trip to San Francisco for our anniversary last year. Our server was wonderful (although I unfortunately cannot remember her name) and made great suggestions, and we were even approached by the manager at one point to check on how things were.
My only complaint would be that my boyfriend's steak was a bit closer to rare than the medium well he ordered, in the middle. And my scallops, while seared perfectly, were barely warm when they made it to the table. This could be due to the fact that it was quite busy...
Everything else though, was superb! We brought a toddler and she was easily seated at the end with high chair. The service was awesome and there was no shortage of keeping our glasses of water filled. The atmosphere was great and loved the pretty colors. The food was delicious and couldn't have been better. My scallops were a little cold even though the plates were hot but there were 7 plates to serve together. The steaks were delicious and cooked perfectly! I would highly recommend this place.
