A word from The Bee's Knees
Traditionally, tapas dishes have been associated with
Spanish cuisine. However at THE BEE"S KNEES, we take a global approach that encompasses various cultures and flavors from around the world. From Thai to Spanish, Cajun to Mediterranean and Japanese to French, we have selected a menu to please the palate.

Our many vegan, vegetarian, poultry and seafood dishes are accented by our extensive selection of
beer, wine, spirits, sake, coffee, and tea.

The name, The Bee's Knees, itself has it's own curious meaning. Taken from 1920's jazz influenced slang,
it refers to the "hip" or the "cool" thing such as "The Cat's Meow".

We encourage sharing!

Diner Reviews
  • "The Bees Knees is tapas dining at its best. Attire can be anything from jeans to dressy and you will feel comfortable. The decor, the food, the people who work there as well as the other customers all make this a very nice dining experience. The restaurant atmosphere is nice - not usually loud, but not so quiet you can't have good table conversation. The decor is unique and changes just enough to never be stagnant."

  • "We tried this place on a quick vacation and loved it. We just ordered about half of the tapas menu and everything was great. If you are in Augusta, you have to give it a shot. Amazing drink menu as well."

  • "So loud I could not hear my husband. Exposed flame on table with oil leaking out of can onto table. We waited 45 minutes for mixed drink. Pad Thai did not match description on menu and took one hour to receive. Not one person, wait staff or manager ever apologized for the awful experience. Manager was almost indignant when she asked me why I didn't like the Pad Thai of course after waiting an hour for the entree. I wish I had a positive comment, but unfortunately I do not."

  • "I've been to several tapas restaurants in various cities. Hummus - very good. Cheese and olive plate - embarrassingly small and bad selection. Cucumber salad not shareable because of size. Coconut curry noodles with tofu - unedible. Seriously! All non vegan items seemed to be acceptable. For a place to meet good friends you haven't seen in years, embarrassing pick but nice to sit for a while to talk.... Our reservation was at 5:30 so no reason we should have had to wait 20 minutes for first item to hit the table."

  • "Too dark....and couldn't keep the candle lit..... So dark in fact it was almost hazardous..... Food very good and service quite pleasant.... Great combinations..."

  • "Thanks to open table we found this great place to eat in Augusta. We would highly recommend this restaurant. A great way to eat. The best Tappas since we lived in Spain."

  • "I made a reservation and when we arrived, they had our table ready with two glasses of water already poured. Our waiter was great; very nice and friendly and knowledgable about the menu. When we asked him for suggestions for drinks and entrees, he gave us a couple of great ones. Do yourself a favor and get the Pad Thai with chicken. SOOOOO GOOD!"

  • "Needed a good dinner after walking all around town with my girlfriend and happened to walk by the restaurant. It looked like a great place to have a date night with delicious food and we were absolutely right."

  • "The Bees Knees is always wonderful - we are always welcomed with a warm smile, wonderful and considerate hosts and servers. The ambiance is great - fine art, formal and casual attire mix well together. The food is outstanding and the conversation is better there than anywhere else in downtown Augusta - whether alone or with a group of friends. A wonderful place to eat and relax."

  • "Went here before prom and it was wonderful! We were seated immediately, and had a wonderful dinner. The service was fantastic and the surroundings had the perfect energy."

  • "I've been to Bees Knees before and I always enjoy it. The tortilla Espanola is as close to Madrid as I've tasted in the U.S. and the artichoke dip is tasty. Most of the items on the menu are a little different from what's available at most places so I like that. All I usually have is tapas so I'm not sure about the entrees, but it's a great casual place to meet friends and it has a funky kind of vibe. The wine list is limited and a little pricey but on the Tuesday I was there they were having specials so the Malbec I ordered was a bargain that day. I recommend Bees Knees. If you haven't been you should try it."

  • "I liked The Bee's Knees. It was a fun atmosphere. Drinks were good. Food was so so, but that's ok, the drinks made up for it."

  • "My wife and I went to the Bees Knees for the first time and it was a wonderful experience. We had reservations and were seated immediately upon arrival. Our server, Joel, was knowledgeable and courteous. He and the serving team got our order to us with the perfect amount of time between courses. The food was excellent, especially the cheesecake. We hope to go back soon."

  • "Eat a little or eat a lot, that's why I love this place! The tapas dishes are inventive and always delicious. Favorites are the avocado chop chop, garlicky shrimp, and the feta stuffed mushrooms. This place is great for groups to share the entire menu. Wine list is decent and the bar always delivers. An undiscovered gem in downtown Augusta!"

  • "This time, we took our parents who were visiting for the weekend. They were very impressed and now know why we rave about this place every time we get a chance to go."

  • "I have eaten at the Bee's Knees several times and each time I order something different off the menu and have never been disappointed!!! The food is amazing and I love the fact they use local and regional ingredients to keep the food fresh and authentic. The staff is always knowledgeable and friendly. Some of my favorite items on the menu? The Pad Thai, add shrimp, the Blue Crab Cakes, the Avocado Chop Chop and of course a glass of their house-made red Sangria. This is a must try for anyone in or around Augusta!"

  • "The food was very good, but the service was not so hot. We waited a very long time for food and orders were forgotten and never placed. The manager did nothing to accommodate us, it was treated as though we were a bother."

  • "We love to go to the Bees Knees in Augusta, GA, because they have vegan/vegetarian options on the menu. But we also love the fact that you can order a variety of tapas and share! Also, they had white Sangria the night we went and it was yummy!"

  • "Was a little disappointing this time around. Previous experience at Bees Knees was great, but this time they forgot one of our appetizer orders (scallops), and put chicken on our other appetizer (smoked gouda nachos) that we did not ask to be added. The Yaki rice dish was ok, but there wasn't enough of the sauce for the accompanying rice. Taste was up to their usual par, but the service was slow and the order mistakes were not what I typically expect from this caliber of restaurant. We were on a time limit to get to a show, and couldn't afford the extra time they'd require to fix their mistakes. I'll go back, but it'll be their last chance."

  • "Since moving back to Augusta, my wife and I have gone to Bee's Knee's many times. It is our new local favorite. Great drink variety and specials. We love the Gouda Cheese Nachos! The menu has something for everyone. I am a very picky eater and leave stuffed every time. Great spot for Sunday Brunch too!"

  • "We had an overnight stay in Augusta and needed to get some food before bed. Stumbled upon this little gem on opentable and absolutely loved the food. Great variety too. The beer selection was awesome too. Service impeccable. We have another stay in Augusta coming up and we will for sure come back to The Bee's Knees for dinner. Because it's the bee's knees."

  • "The girlfriend and I had always wanted to try the Bees Knees and what better chance to do so than on Valentine's Day. The food was fantastic. Everything we tried was delicious. My girlfriend is a very picky eater and she liked everything we tried. The service was spot on and the atmosphere of the restaurant was ideal. Not loud, not annoying. We could easily talk to one another and had a wonderful meal and an overall picturesque evenings. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants to take their date somewhere special and not spend too much but still have wonderful food, great service, and an overall splendid evening."

  • "My wife and I have eaten here several times in the last few years and have always enjoyed the food and service. Although things were quiet on our latest visit, it is usually crowded and the atmosphere is often energetic, but this time we were dining early on a Sunday evening. The restaurant specializes in small plates and we ordered several, all of which were excellent, the standout being the Pad Thai. Also, the dessert special that night was pomegranate creme brûlée, which was fantastic."

  • "Did not check Great for Lunch since the only day they serve lunch is Sunday. Need to try it though since the dinner was great. Not a fan of guacamole, ordered it and it was fantastic. Great restaurant and a nice bar area to sit in while you wait for your table. Wonderful place!"

  • "Great food and beer choices, though the beer is priced a good bit higher here than the same drafts elsewhere."

  • "I dined here a few years ago with a friend in which I gave a great review. While in Augusta again I knew I wanted to return. This time, however, the food was good, not great, the menu hadn't really changed, and my server knew little about the food, beer, or wines. Everything was, "hang-on, I'll ask." Very disappointed this time around. Still a decent evening. I might try again."

  • "We have been to The Bee's Knees on multiple occasions and find it consistent in the quality of service and food. Coming from a large metro environment which offers endless dining opportunities, The Bee's Knees was a treasure found in downtown Augusta!"

  • "Very fine place for 2 or a crowd, but you will need reservations, especially on weekends. While it calls itself a tapas bar, the menu runs more towards Thai and other East Asian. Offers both small plates and full dinners. Excellent wine by the glass offerings."

  • "If you haven't been...go! The food selection has a little too much seafood in it, but is stellar non-the-less. Mostly smaller portions that are perfect for sharing."
    Dined on 12/27/2013
  • "The servers are extra knowledgeable and super friendly and efficient. They actually know what to do with vegetarians and vegans! And the food is interesting, well prepared, and beautifully presented. It's the perfect place to go with our carniverous friends, as everybody has great choices. I especially like their Asian flavors. The small plates are perfect for sharing with a group. Wine list is good too - last time I enjoyed the Carro, a Spanish blend."

We will be planning a supper outing with all of the family ! Bees knees has moved to first place on our "yummy places to go" list !"

  • "Bees Knees is one of my top 3 restaurants in Augusta. It is a beautiful space with a hip staff. The menu is mostly Asian and Mediterranean inspired. They do not serve beef or pork. It's Seafood, chicken, or tofu. I ALWAYS got the Avocado chop chop with other favorites: tuna carpaccio, calamari, scallops, ginger salad, fruit & cheese plate, and sweet potato fries. I have never had bad food there. It is the perfect atmosphere when you want to enjoy the dining experience. Take a couple hours. Order tapas as you go. And enjoy the great drink menu!"
