Diner Reviews
  • "The food is not as good as it once was. The service was poor; our server rarely checked on us or refilled our wine; and she didn't check to see if our meals were satisfactory. The first guest arrived 10-15 minutes prior to the rest of our group, and no one came to the table until the rest of the group arrived; perhaps she would have liked a drink? The prices for cocktails and wine by the glass, which were once reasonable, are much too high. Also, would it kill the hostesses to great guests with a smile? Beautiful setting; unfortunately that is the best thing about this restaurant now. Won't be going back."

  • "it was a special occasion. Four of us went to celebrate the last payment of our mortgage. The food was excellent, and the service competent and friendly. We have been to this restaurant many times before and it is consistently good, which is no small feat in the restaurant business. Many thanks for a memorable evening."

  • "Had a late dinner to attend for Dining Out for Life. Food and service was excellent. We weren't rushed even though we were the last patrons to leave the restaurant."

  • "We wanted to note that we requested a special table at the Beach House, and they delivered. This was much appreciated since we took guests for out of town, and they LOVED the ambience and view at sunset. As usual, the food was good and the service excellent."

  • "Staff were courteous and friendly, we got a seat by the fireplace, great view even on a dark February evening. However the food was very basic, small potions, and expensive. Would not come back."

  • "We were greeted with a friendly smile and greeting as we entered. We arrived about 30 minutes early for our reservation just to grab a drink at the bar but the friendly hostess had our table ready which was really nice since the place was full. Upon sitting down , we were greeted by a nice looking and very friendly waiter who answered all of our questions regarding the food and drink menus. I started with the shrimp gyoza (6) was a decent price and all worth it. The sauce complimented the shrimp perfectly. The lobster mac n cheese was to die for! It was just the right size and baked to perfection. I highly recommend this resto for anyone looking for good and affordable food, and a romantic feel."

  • "Very poot service. Our waiter was terrible and waited 15 minutes to pay the bill. Not the quality we expected. Fish House is much better."

  • "excellent in all aspects Great menu selection There is something for all tastes Price reasonable"

  • "Our mid day meal was OK but not great. Our table was on the corner of the most active isle in the restaurant and there was a lot of movement that was a bit distracting. I had requested a window table but wound up with a booth - but the view was nice. Most all of the tables have at least some view of the bay. The waitress was inexperienced and our service wasn't very good. We asked for bread and the waitress brought some but no plates. Fortunately, we were on the corner booth and in back of the bench there was a stack of plates so we helped ourselves. Also my fish and chips order arrived 10 minutes after the other 3 guests had been served."

  • "The location is wonderful, the food was great and the service was good too, I had a note in my reservation asking to be seated somewhere warm and they put us right by the fire! Beautiful :) I really appreciate it when the hostess or the staff actually looks at the notes in the reservation! Everything was perfect for a nice Birthday dinner even though I was not feeling my best it was cosy and comforting."

  • "Dinner was great, and the crab dip is wonderful. The only complaint i would have is the seasonal vegetable is "Brussel Sprouts" Not a favorite of most people. Other tables mentioned it as well. Stick to a "vegetable medley" - for most middle of the road tastes"

  • "Location! Location! Sunsets and beautiful ocean views next to the seawall make it an ideal site for any meal. Great outdoor sheltered and heated deck for patio dining too. My dinner was great: pecan crusted warm chicken breast over a beet and greens salad accented with blue cheese and pear. My companion's meal of seafood sheppard's pie contained too much potato and too little seafood. Also a downer: the wine list is limited and very expensive. For example, you can pay up to $18.00 for a single glass of wine!"

  • "As always, this is a perfect place to go for any occasion. The food is always excellent: presentation supreme. You can't beat the ambience and view. The staff and waiters are attentive and helpful. A great dining experience anytime of day: this time for brunch -- but I do like to come to your establishment often if I can."

  • "It's that time of year, and I cannot think of a better place to meet an old friend for lunch than the Beach House! Marg & I have been friends for over 50 years, when we met as Pharmacy students at UBC. We began the day by walking the West Vancouver Seawall on a beautiful sunny morning, then sat down for a sumptuous lunch. The restaurant was packed, but our waitress was attentive and even pointed out the surfers outside the window. We opted for the seafood chowder and lobster & prawn "sandwich" on a toasted brioche bun. Excellent!"

  • "If you're lucky enough to snag a table by the window, the view is as spectacular as the food. The restaurant can be a bit noisy if you're looking for an intimate dining experience, but the food and service are terrific."

  • "Service was slow. Food was mediocre and very expensive. We ordered 3 salads, one fish and chip dish and side order of French fries and 2 bottles of white wine...Burrowing Owl. We paid $77.00 each plus $12.00 tip each."

  • "Dinner was good, but the restaurant was a lot louder than anticipated, and very warm. We asked if they could adjust the temperature, which they did, but everyone at our table was uncomfortable, and had a hard time hearing each other. We're not old people, by the way... :) Otherwise, the server was very pleasant and the meal was fine - the appetizer (tuna poke nachos) was particularly good."

  • "Have been to the Beach house before but not for several years. The food and service were great, but the noise level was too loud to have a conversation without raising our voices."

  • "Good food and good view !!! I want to visit again."

  • "Made reservations - requested a table by the window. Although we arrived a little earlier than our reservation, they accommodated us, which nice, however they did not put us by a window as requested. Although the hostess heard me say this she pretended not to, sat us at the table and left. Very rude. I ordered the Sable fish, which was touted as being 'excellent' and was disappointed, aside from the piece of fish on the plate, the rest was just over salted nothings..noodles in broth - my husband ordered the lobster, and that was better. The waitress was great - very attentive and personable, but the food given the price they are charging was not worth it..........."

  • "i thought the food was good! However the service was not as good. The waiter got us the wrong bill. I dont know if that was a honest mistake or it was on purpose. Try to make the bill almost the same.... if people dont look carefully they would be overcharge. How can 2 people eat 4 entrees???"

  • "My friend & I met many years ago as First Year Pharmacy students at UBC. We haven't seen each other for about 10 years until she came in from Coquitlam to walk with me along the West Vancouver seawall. Afterwards we had lunch at the Beach House. I selected this favorite restaurant because I wanted our outing to be special. And it was all that, and more! We both selected the Shrimp & Dungeness Crab Tower with the house wine, Red Rooster Pinot Gris. Everything was perfect, including the service!"
