The Bazaar by José Andrés
All the incredible food you'dAll the incredible food you'd expect from Jose Andres. Great mix of traditional and modern tapas. The"cheesesteaks" were amazing and the "life changing" dashi linguini was just that. Fabulous decor and fun food plating. Very relaxed atmosphere, we didn't feel at all rushed. They didn't try to upsell us on the wine we ordered or steer us to more expensive dishes. It was a great evening.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMUnique! We have always wanted to try the molecular gastronomy experience... The bazaar offered a variety of tapas the traditional (which is not with molecular gastronomy and is not explained properly) and the modern tapas (the real thing!). We had 7 dishes (+ 4 desserts) between the 2 of us and it was great! Some were more memorable then others. I loved the hilly steak sandwich and the bagel and lox. Great wine menu and also special drinks. Definitely worth a visit!5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMMixed feelingsThe items I liked were spectacular - ham iberico, the cod croquettes and mushrooms. The other items were mediocre - steak, the sauce with the daily fish (fish itself was very good). The dessert - bread pudding - is not recommended especially if you have had great bread pudding.5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMTapas?I visited this restaurant on recommendation from the friend who particularly loved the food. I think that we had just a bad luck; our seafood tapas were all undercooked and could not be digested. The service and the ambiance were outstanding though and I am sure that if not for those tapas, it would be perfect. I do visit Barcelona regularly and the tapas there, I must say, are so good, that it is hard to compete ( despite the chef from Andalusia).5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food not a fan on theGreat food not a fan on the seating. Our chairs were quite uncomfortable but overall great experience5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMFun night out with a nitrogenFun night out with a nitrogen infused cocktail made table side. Service wa perfect, attentive but not pushy. Must try's of the modern tapas include the carrot fritters, baby peaches and burrata and the guacamole cups. Great menu with lots of choices for vegetarians.5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMWe found the restaurant toWe found the restaurant to be upscale, yet friendly. A true experience which we were allowed to enjoy and not be rushed through. I own a retail business, so I am always aware of service and special touches. You scored an A+ the food was delicious and beautifully presented4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMThe Bazaar provides a robustThe Bazaar provides a robust vegan menu that doesn't get enough attention. The cocktails are also top notch. The staff is also very attentive.
On my last visit we got a communal table back near the kitchen but it turned out not to be a problem. There are no bad seats in this restaurant.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food and great service.Great food and great service. We are vegetarian and they accommodated us very well. A great evening.4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMA wonderful experienceMy wife and I had dinner here on April 24 ... we are both foodies and our taste buds were fully satisfied by the quality, perfect food preparation and creativity at this excellent restaurant ... the service was impeccable, the ambiance was fun ... fully recommended ... we started with a fantastic Iberico di Bellota ... so tasty, so delicate at same time, then we had 5 more tapas (lobster [the best], spinach salad, sea urchin [second best] ...) ... then we moved to the patisserie and picked our desserts: a fantastic Spanish flan, and a tasty and delicate small pastry (chocolate, berries) ...
Thank you for this amazing culinary experience
Filippo4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMSo Bazaar... So good! What a great find this place was. We found it on LA Times 100 top restaurants in Los Angeles. The food was amazing and the ambiance was so cool! We plan on going back... and bringing friends...4/22/2013 12:00:00 AMAWESOME !!!I have been to the Bazaar on numerous occasions and NEVER have I been disappointed. My largest group was 10 and the service was outstanding,!! Every time I go it's an event and I can't say that about any other restaurant. I always leave with a little less cash, but who cares? You get what you pay for...and this place is worth every penny !!!!4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMSeafood was def the choice!Seafood was def the choice! Both of our chicken and wagyu beef was slightly on the salty side. Passion fruit cocktail was delicious!!!!
We waited quite a long gap for the wagyu beef (mistakenly sent to the wrong table)
Service was pretty awesome, our waitress Jamie was real nice and super friendly.
Loved the seperated dessert area, very cool.
Fun experience?4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMExtreme ...even for LA standards!Gotta go at least once.... Sensory overload when you enter. Beautiful decor ..like nowhere else. Staff very friendly.
Great diverse menu....fabulous flavor....very small portions....very pricey for what you get... Dinner was $430.00 for the four of us and we arent big drinkers or eaters. NOT A GREAT VALUE.
We got the biggest laugh over the desert prices...i mean ..really ..three dollars for a single marshmellow.....???
This place is excessive even for LA!4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMAll was just fine...exceptAll was just fine...except wine service was sub par. Essentially ignored by the waiter. Also, if you do not like high octane noise...do not go.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMThe Bazaar you want to be a part ofAfter my chef friend told me to visit Jaleo in Vegas, I became hooked on what Jose was doing in restaurants. To celebrate our culinary victory in LA, we went to Bazaar and had an amazing experience. The waiter may have screwed up a few minor things during our tasting but it was not really a problem and mostly to our advantage. I would highly recommend.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMFabulous ExperienceWe have been to several Jose Andres restaurants (Oyamel & Jaleo in DC, Jaleo in Las Vegas), so we knew we'd be in for a great dining experience at Bazaar. Little did we know that this restaurant blows the others out of the water! The food is tapas, very similar in selection and style to Jaleo, but it's the restaurant itself that made this night fabulous. First of all, the restaurant is quite large, varied in decor, and beautiful to behold. Once your meal is over you are escorted to a separate dessert area, with more eye candy there, and on your way out, a store. We recommend the papas canarias, "the ultimate Spanish tapa," and the Butifarra Senator Moynihan as our top 3, gluten-free items. I loved the drink made with mezcal. Wow!4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMLovely spot with a uniqueLovely spot with a unique decor and a very exciting menu.4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMsome dishes were outstandingsome dishes were outstanding (tortilla de patatas). Others were terrible (gnocchi, caprese). Better dishes were traditional. The gnocchi and caprese were failed attempts at modern technique.4/16/2013 12:00:00 AMGood, pretentious, not worth $$It's an experience, but probably not worth the hefty coin. It's tapas in an environment that is trying to be too hip for its own good. Service was very nice, and friendly. Food was good but not memorable. But the pretension was a bit painful. I think our server spent 5 minutes explaining to us why their cauliflower is an explosion of cauliflowerness, or how special it is to call ham Jamon. The 15 minute lecture to convince us that we were eating a rarified feast from another planet was kind of laughable.4/15/2013 12:00:00 AMSo glad we went, and wouldSo glad we went, and would definitely return as the the drinks, decor, service and dessert room were *wonderful*... but we really weren't blown away by the food. At all. It was fine, but not great. If amazing tapas are what you're hunkering for, I'd look elsewhere.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMbe sure to order somethingbe sure to order something from every section of the menu. If you start with some traditinal tapas and move to modern you can really appriciate the genius of what they are doing here.4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat dining experience onceGreat dining experience once we were moved from what was the most terrible seat in the place. My dining chair was a large wingback chair with a reclined pitch. The table was almost as high as my neck and when I asked to move to a regular chair the host said that was not possible (meanwhile there were lots of open tables). I said to her that there is no way I could eat sitting in this position. After a few minutes she returned and moved us to a table with regular dining chairs. The rest of the evening was fantastic.4/8/2013 12:00:00 AMA terrific place to take aA terrific place to take a group, so many options, helpful advice from great servers, quick food delivery keep things upbeat and delicious. So completely different from the staid boring endless fine dining experience that is typical when there are more than four diners.
Always fun to introduce this restaurant to newcomers. everyone is always wowed from the cocktails to the food choices to the option of the delicious desserts to be served in the other room. Great idea to offer cookies, candy, and specialty items.
Edible caramels and Nitro coconut floating island are just two of the extraordinary options.
I love this restaurant.
Also have always been welcoming to my one year old granddaughter, a great added benefit!4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMStill very good foodStill quite the scene. That I can do without. They do have one quieter room in front. Food still good. We always love the olives two way, uni buns, Philly Cheese Steak, guacamole and cheeses to start with. All with their special twist of course. I think if you go with the intention to spend a lot of money and order all over the menu and try all their unique house special drinks you'd have a great time. Worth a try at least once. Be prepared to wait for your table though. They always run late. But you can start ordering apps at the bar if you find a seat at one of the communal tables or cocktail tables.4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was quite interestingThe food was quite interesting and delicious all the way. The servers and even the receptionists were friendly as we checked in for our reservation, and that's definitely a big plus on my list! Overall, the ambience, food and service was great! The only advice that I would suggest to those who are not aware about the concept of their food : it is a tapas-style place and it takes A LOT of orders to satisfy that hunger. Other than that, it's a place definitely worth trying =)4/3/2013 12:00:00 AMHave fun on your adventureSo fun and well worth the cost! Have fun traveling through the tapas and you will end up with a memorable evening!4/3/2013 12:00:00 AMExceeds ExpectationsThe Bazaar exceeded expectations. I had heard about the inventive (to put it mildly) dishes, but they were delectable and made the dining experience seem like an expedition into the world of the exotic. Also, the servers were extremely helpful in suggesting which dishes to try. Loved everything, especially the sea urchin sandwich, the philly cheesesteak, the caprese with liquid mozzarella and the caesar salad that is nothing like you've ever eaten. And the desserts are to die for, especially the coconut cream prepared using liquid nitrogen. Word of warning, the plates are small -- don't fill up on dinner, leave room for dessert.4/2/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was to die for, absolutelyFood was to die for, absolutely brilliant experience, fresh, exciting and fun......the only downside was the wine list while extensive the bottle of red wine we were suggested to get from the sommelier for $110 was definitely not up to scratch.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMHad a great birthday celebrationHad a great birthday celebration at Bazaar. We didn't have enough people for the tasting menu but our waitress put together a wonderful menu of 12-15 items. She did a great job of providing a variety of options along with a substantial amount of food. Always one of my favorites and it didn't disappoint!3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMA special place because ofA special place because of its very vibrant atmosphere and creative, multi-room setting. Designed to promote great conversation and intimacy, while still encouraging you to walk around and see the whole scene. And the food is presented like no place else. Visually stunning and original in its various concepts and combinations. The food appeals to all five senses.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMStill the bestStill inventive while retaining early classics . Plates are gorgeous and deliver surprising tastes. Servers are present but unobtrusive.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMA Must Stop when in LA!Our experience at The Bazaar and nearby Tres (bar) were the gastronomical/nightspot highlights of our recent vacation in Los Angeles. We arrived 30 minutes early for our reservation and enjoyed cocktails at Tres in an eclectic, relaxing sofa area, complete with faux fireplace and privacy curtains. Our server was very attentive and helpful. Great stress reduction option after dealing with LA traffic!! The Bazaar was one of the most dynamic dining experiences we've ever experienced! Esoteric, exotic, fun environment. Trippy ambient music. Exquisite wine choices. And tapas to die for! My wife has spent ample time throughout Spain and she raved about the options. We had an outstanding dinner and plan to return when in LA.3/27/2013 12:00:00 AMSandy DTapas are small portions but less is more! The pace and timing at which the food was serve was outstanding. I would focus on salad, fish and meat for an unforgettable dining experience. Pasta paella is not my favorite. The dessert room is outstanding - Apples Carlotta & chocolate mousse are melt in you mouth heaven on a plate.3/26/2013 12:00:00 AMUnbelievable culinary adventure! The Bazaar by Jose Andres is easily one of the most unique culinary adventures we've ever experienced. It was everything that we had hoped it would be - and then some! The drinks and tapas were not to be believed. Every one was a work of art. We will definitely go back.
OK - a couple notes. The wine list is completely overpriced. They sell $10-20 bottles for upwards of $60, and serious wines (retail $50-75) run hundreds of dollars. If you want to drink wine, treat yourself to a high end retail wine and pay the $35 corkage. I don't mind a reasonable markup (100%, for example) - but 500% or more markup is ridiculous.3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMMust Take A LookVery enjoyable, must get the Philly Cheesesteaks...our group ordered two portions, fantastic3/21/2013 12:00:00 AMDinner and a show! The food was amazing, equalled by the ambiance and the beautiful presentation of the dishes. There are so many unique items to try, as well as more traditional tapas selections. Don't miss the wonderful jambon choices, served with tomato bread. They move you to a special section of the restaurant for dessert - another fun treat! The floating coconut cloud is unbelievable! We will definitely be back!3/20/2013 12:00:00 AMThe service and food wereThe service and food were fantastic. Everyone was super nice.3/19/2013 12:00:00 AMI LOVED the food and the service.I LOVED the food and the service. It's just too expensive, otherwise I would have given them a 5 star!3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMI originally had a reservationI originally had a reservation for 2 and needed to expand it to 5 the day before. They accommodated me beautifully!
The food was sumptuous and also 'entertaining' the most fun we had having dinner in memory.
Loved it!!3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMWe love Bazaar! It is whereWe love Bazaar! It is where we go to celebrate or need a good foodie eve.3/13/2013 12:00:00 AMMemorableThis is my second trip to Bazaar. When I was in L.A. several years ago I ate there and have wanted to return ever since. It did not disappoint the second time. The food and atmosphere remain extraordinary. And the service was impeccable. Emily was friendly without being overly familiar. Her pacing and selection of food for the table was remarkable. I hope she is being compensated well because she brings true excellence to service. Thank you for a memorable evening.3/8/2013 12:00:00 AMI love everything from theI love everything from the time we walk in the people are very friendly, the food was excellent, the coctail was great and most of all the dessert....I would love to recommend this to everyone i know.3/1/2013 12:00:00 AMI love all the tapas at BazaarI love all the tapas at Bazaar - they are just the perfect size!!! It's also so much fun to have dessert in another location!! I can't wait to return.1/29/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent restaurant, but...When I arrived the receptionist without asking lead me to a stool at the bar counter. I indicated that I expected and preferred a table, so I was then seated in an out of the way corner facing a curtain. Subsequently a waiter helped me move the huge chair so that I would at least seat with the curtain behind me. A couple that arrived shortly after I did was shown to a table in the same area and asked to be seated elsewhere. I should have done the same. All this while the restaurant was over 50% empty, only one half hour before closing time.
But then came culinary heaven. The "modern" tapas are unbelievable both in presentation and taste. This is modern cooking at its best; different and superb. Highly recommended.1/13/2013 12:00:00 AM
