Innotative dishes, excellent quality - one of the best meals we have had in a restaurant in a long time. Not too expensive - walked away feeling that we actually got what we paid for. Would definitely eat there again, and recommend to others. Service was great, although it did get a bit crowded. Noise levels were acceptable.

The Basin has become an prelude to our musical evening concerts at the Mountain Winery. The orchestrated timing must allow for an early dinner, yet not be rushed to finish. They have synchronized and mastered their service to flow smoothly through the course of the meal. A fun selection of martinis to choose from, selecting my top favorite, the Issac Hayes martini! We ordered the grilled vegetable appetizer plate which was easy to share four ways while getting our vegetable requirement under wrap! I selected the pasta and mushroom dish and the key note to this entree is to have a slice of bread handy to soak up the remains of the sauce. m-m-m-m-m-good!

Our waitress was very knowledgeable and helpful when it came to making menu selections. She was responsive and came back to check on us routinely. I cannot quite say the same for the food, however. The skirt steak was tender and cooked to my liking, but had a little more salt and oil than was needed. We also had the crab linguini, which was a bit too mushy. Nevertheless, we did enjoy the chicken croquets, which separated nicely as we cut into them. The ambiance was very comfortable and cozy. Despite the fact that the party next to us was extremely fouled-mouth, we rather enjoyed the feel of the restaurant. It may not be one of the restaurants that I may frequent on a regular basis, but I will go there again to give it another tr

A great little restaurant in Saratoga. Service (Bruno) was excellent - timely, friendly, efficient, unobtrusive. Dishes of Ahi Tuna and Sea Bass (special of the day) very well done and delicious. Basin Salad nicely done, and was split onto two plate for us without our requesting it, a nice touch. Cherry pie dessert was good, not very good - probably the only slightly disappointing item of the evening, but was improved by a an excellent dessert wine pairing suggested by Bruno. Otherwise, very good food all the way around.

I had been a couple times before, really its my girlfriends restaurant for her "girls night out", so I was pleasantly surprised how great it was. We've been to the Basin many, many times and are never disappointed by the experience. Having moved from Saratoga to Monterey a few years ago, it is now a real treat and our top choice for a San Jose area meeting place with friends or family. Andrew, the owner, is super friendly and attentive and remembers us every time we visit! It's small and quite popular wit hthe locals so I'd recommend making a reservation ,especially on the weekend or when there's an event at the Mountain Winery. But you will love everything about the Basin!

In general I really like the Basin. It's a great, neighborhoody, friendly place. The owner has created a very nice ambiance and keeps a personal touch. The food is usually very good...this last time was a little bit of a disappointment, however. Seems like everything was off just a little bit. Not bad, but certainly not like some of my previous experiences. I will be back, but I hope it matches prior visits.

The mushroom pasta that I ordered was excellent and my fellow diners also enjoyed their meals. As it was my husband's birthday, they gave a free dessert which was unexpected! I would have given it higher points if our server actually tried to remember us as we felt neglected at times (asked for ice-tea 3 times and the third time from the busboy before they remembered!). We sat outside at the patio which was great for a more private meal as indoors was quite noisy when we left. All in all, a wonderful time and very good food...we'll be back!

The food was fabulous, but the steaks were enormous -- and I mean enormous! We ordered some appetizers, so I just wish our waiter had suggested we split the entrée (especially at $44 each). A shared steak would have been more than two people could handle. We simply could not finish the meal, and it was a shame to waste.

Love the patio. The food, which I used to think good, was mediocre - the entrees expensive. One member of the party (a chef) found the stuffed calimari 'disgusting'...
