Diner Reviews
  • "Atmosphere was quiet and relaxing for outdoor lunch. Food was good and server was pleasant. The timing of the food was really off though with all appetizers and entrees being brought out at the same time."

  • "Having lived in Westwood for 35 years it is always a pleasant surprise to find that there is another indication of why this neighborhood is special. The W Hotel has been in the area for years, but we had never eaten in their restaurant until this past week, when a family celebration took us to the Backyard for lunch. It was beautiful, the food excellent and the service first rate. We will be back as the summer warms!"

  • "Great outdoor dining when it's warm. During the winter months, there's a see-through tent with heaters, which helps with the cold air."

  • "We went for lunch and only the Backyard is open for Lunch, FYI. But really, they should have dining options inside the hotel restaurant downstairs as well. Like us, many tables were business diners, and people just don't want to sit under a tent for lunch with very little shade (the tent is clear). The food was ok (I got the salmon burger and would not get it again--too flat and very bland). The staff seemed overwhelmed. There were not enough tables and there seem to be too few servers. Our server was nice, but none of the staff was dressed very professionally. To me, if you pay that much for a hotel, you would think they would "up it" with the restaurant."

  • "When the weather is nice, there's no better place to have breakfast, lunch or brunch in Westwood. Informal, yet elegant; the food is tasty and not too expensive. Do try their specialty cocktails."

  • "This was our third time at The Backyard and it's always good. We love the atmosphere and food. Our most recent visit on Saturday evening was the best service yet!"

  • "I felt like I was on vacation. Waterfall, palm trees, lovely outdoor breeze. A great place for fabulous drinks, delicious food and friendly relaxed service. I will be back again this weekend!"

  • "Obviously with Hotel Dining you can expect an upgrade in pricing due to the nature of the business. Expect to pay $50 for a meal and 1 drink at the W. It's worth it to experience a bit of an oasis during the workday, however you pay a hefty price for what you get."
