  • "Good food and service. The boards were amazing. The pork chop entree special was not that great, a little flavorless and chewy. Salmon entree was fine, I ate it in its entirety but I've had much better. Dessert was amazing. Highlights were the appetizers and desserts. Very interesting food forward stuff. Would like to see a little more consistency throughout the meal. Talks a big talk for an almost middle of the road (because of the entrees) walk. And I say almost--not the home run I was anticipating but very good and interesting nonetheless."

  • "We were very excited to dine at the Bachelor Farmer after hearing the amazing reviews! The food was good, but maybe just a tad bit weird. Instead of a bread basket, we were served whole radishes that were to be dipped in butter and salt. I though, how interesting! No. At the end of the day you are eating radishes dipped in butter and salt. In an effort to be different, I think this missed the mark. Nevertheless, the entrees were very good! My husband had the Chop Night Pork Chops that were the best pork chops he's ever had, though a bit salty. I had the oven baked duck eggs. Very good, but very rich! I would recommend Bachelor Farmer, yet I don't have a yearning to go back."

  • "My wife and I decide to pick a city we had never experienced and explore for a few days. As self-proclaimed foodies, we found the culinary scene in Minneapolis better than advertised. The highlight of our dinning experience in Minneapolis was dinner at The Bachelor Farmer. The unusual concept and attention to quality was wonderful. Every bite from start to finish was a delight.   • "Finally made it to the Bachelor Farmer to celebrate an anniversary, and it is absolutely all it's cracked up to be. We made it on a Sunday night when the restaurant has a set menu and it was amazing! The flavors were perfect, tasted like it has been cooking all day. The service was awesome and the drinks were made perfectly (doesn't hurt having Marvel Bar right below). I can't wait to go again and try the regular menu."

  • "I had been wanting to dine here since I moved to Minneapolis 18 months ago. I heard great things and they were all correct! All of the food was incredibly thought out, prepared and presented. Portion sizes were perfect. I can't wait to bring my foodie friend here when he comes to visit, I took photos of the food and menu for him! We had a great server as well. I enjoyed the special Sunday evening menu but will try another night next time for a different experience. While the salad course wouldn't have been my choice it was still delicious and well made. The drink menu is adventurous!! Really unique cocktails like nothing I've had before."

  • "I would rank my dinner here among my top three (ever in a restaurant). The detail that was put into the décor was evidence that the owner gives attention to all the little things that make this a special restaurant. My wife and I arrived about 30 minutes before our reservation time so we were able to wait in the bar area. We were seated after about a 15 minute wait. We both thought the service was excellent and our server was very knowledgeable on the menu items. We ordered the pork rib appetizer, duck confit and the pork shoulder."

  • "Our meal at Bachelor Farmer was excellent and the ambience is wonderful, with a tastefully decorated interior. We had a toast appetizer, which came with a lot of tasty toppings (e.g., bacon jam, honey, granola, seeds & toasted coriander, homemade soft cheese). With more toast to accompany, this would be great for a small group as the toppings looked small, but were plentiful. The lamb ribs were perfectly done and had an excellent flavor. They came with rhubarb compote/maple vinaigrette, but they were so flavorful, the extra toppings weren't necessary and just became additional toppings for our toast. The salmon was perfectly cooked and the vegetables were fresh and delightful. The pork dish was perfectly cooked, as well, but way too salty."

  • "I was resigned to an evening of boring food with a limited wine list. Although limited, the wines are well chosen to pair with the food and reasonably priced at two times retail. Service was attentive without being obtrusive. Lots of space between diners. The food is better than the descriptions. I've eaten a lot of salmon over the years and can't remember a better preparation. I'm not a fan of Governor Dayton, so it's a bit painful to give so much credit to his boys."

In addition, that side dish and one of the entrees were not put on the bill. However, even with that subtraction, our bill was much higher than the two visits to comparable restaurants for the same party the very same week."

  • "I love food. I do a lot of research for new places and this one stood out. Farm to table was just what I was looking for and I made my reservations 3 months in advanced! The food was good but I have been spoiled by a fresh market place Fargo had (closed) and I was really looking for that again. Our waiter was friendly but the wait for anyone to come to our table was 15 min. (Maybe we were a little early?) The food was very good but not as vibrant and memorable as I had hoped. Maybe we should have dressed a little better, felt a little out of place. The noise level was a bit much and the pole that separated my party of two and the next made it hard not to be a part of their conversation. I'm still glad we came."

  • "The Bachelor Farmer lived up to its reviews. The dishes were inventive, with a subtle mix of flavors. A distinctive element is the use of nuts (check carefully if you're allergic) to offer contrasting textures and flavors. The high point of my dinner was a main course with duck eggs. The fried egg in the middle of the plate was subtly different in flavor from the chicken eggs I make at home but not enough to justify an entree. Mixed with the perfectly grilled and slightly woody mushrooms and nuts that accompanied it, it was superb. The egg made the dish heartier and blended perfectly. Foodie restaurants tend to delight in a succession of flavors. The Bachelor Farmer looks for flavors that combine for effect."

  • "We had a hard time narrowing down what we wanted to start off with so we simply stuck to the appetizer and toast menu. Everything was delicious. I wish we would have saved room for desserts. The table next to us ordered desserts and they looked amazing. We had dinner reservations at 7:45 and were promptly seated. It was quite loud in there and my husband and I felt like we were shouting at times just so we could have a conversation with each other. Joel was an excellent server and had great recommendations for us. He was very attentive."

  • "One of the best meals that you will find in Minneapolis hands down, if you have time slip down to Marvel Bar for a few cocktails. For an app I ordered the duck wings which came with a maple syrup glaze on the side, as well as some mustard, and a rhubarb jelly. The wings were superb and some of the best I have ever had. For my entree the pork shoulder with wilted arugula and a side of fried asparagus. The pork shoulder and arugula went together very well. The fried asparagus was already really good and then they had to throw in a side of herb salt which I am still sitting here thinking about. I did end up ordering dessert and I went with the buttermilk cream and rhubarb sorbet, rhubarb jus, topped herb-meringue dust."
