  • "Best fish and chips and NE Clam Chowder in CVG. Love the Deleware oysters. Nice patio overlooking Washington Park. We highly recommend to all."

  • "Started our evening with a sampling of 4 east coast and 1 west coast oysters, very nice presentation and excellent flavor. I had the scallops, another had 11/2 lb lobster, and lastly fish and chips. All were satisfactory or better, lobster was the somewhat disappointing dish. The menu now has the beer selection which needs improvement with a larger selection. I had a Bloody Mary with a lobster claw which was excellent. We wanted to order dessert but instead we were presented our check, so I would definitely recommend working with the servers on customer service."

  • "Ordered Fish & Chips and a side of Cauliflower. The Cauliflower had a tangy sauce on it that we thought sounded nice but was actually too salty and was exacerbated by the lukewarm temperature. The Fish & Chips was very disappointing. Four, one inch thick, seven inch long strips of Tilapia as opposed Cod Mc Donald style french fries as opposed to steak fries or potato wedges. I'm not saying this combination couldn't work but they both tasted like they had been frozen (fish was tough and chewy)! We sent the Cauliflower back first then the fish & chips. We paid for the drinks, tipped and went across the street! I hear the have good Oysters."

  • "The Anchor was my choice for my birthday dinner. The food was fresh, well prepared and delicious. The service was professional and unobtrusive. I would recommend The Anchor to all who love good, fresh fish well prepared."

  • "Anchor is a gem! Great view, fabulous food, friendly service. Corner location makes it easy to access. Atmosphere is great for drinks with friends or a sit down dinner before heading to your favorite event. I enjoyed chilled King Crab with warm butter, pommes frites, and a tasty salted caramel pudding that arrives in a vintage ball glass (large enough to split). Over-the-Rhine continues to delight and if you haven't stopped by Anchor yet, I recommend you make plans this week!"

  • "Great Dirty Martini's to go with your fresh seafood. Sitting on the patio listening to jazz at Washington Park made the dinner that much more enjoyable"

  • "It was so much fun sitting outdoors facing Washington Park on a Wednesday evening. I felt like I was in Paris. They have a small menu, but with good variety, oysters, lobster, crab legs... Nice wine choices and a full bar. I'll definitely be back. It was the perfect place to eat before the opera."

  • "Excellent service and very good food. I was surprised it wasn't more crowded, but we were there kind of late. It's a very nice location and a neat building, with other bars around. Especially good for dining and then walking around. Good overall experience."

  • "Loved everything except for the three appetizers including the oysters arriving at exactly the same time."

  • "Service was great. Tuna bit fishy. The overall meal and experices was great."

  • "Our waitress was nice, however service could not have been slower. We waited forever for drinks, apps, entrees, dessert, even the bill took forever. It was a special occasion so we were not in a rush, having fun, however, it still felt like a lifetime before receiving anything we ordered. I ordered fish and chips, which I assumed was a safe, solid staple of this seafood restaurant. I was disappointed to bite into soggy fish sticks and almost cold, unremarkable French fries. Ordered caprese salad which featured unripened peaches and burnt toast. Grilled calamari was just ok. Oysters were great but because it was oyster night, the wait was 30 minutes for more. Cocktails were awesome, atmosphere great, everything else, disappointing."

  • "This is a great new addition to OTR and is located adjacent to the newly renovated Washington Square Park with a view of the beautiful old Music Hall. Perfect for sitting outside on a summer evening, looking out across the park twinkling with lights and toward the setting sun. Service here is quite good and server was attentive; we were seated inside most recently and the music was a bit loud. The fish and chips were a bit soggy this night, but that's rare. The wine selection was fabulous."

  • "Our appetizers were Oysters Rockefeller and Crawfish Beignets. Both were outstanding. The aioli that came with the beignets was delicious. My wife ordered one of the specials, King Crab Legs. Some of the best crab I've ever tasted. It was served very cold, which we were not used to, but it was flavorful and juicy, and it came with a very light butter sauce. I order the Whole Fish of the Day, which was a variety I had never heard of and can't remember now. I ordered it "Thai-style" which covered the fish with strips of mango, onion, nuts, and a lightly sweet and spicy sauce. The only complaint I have for the entire meal was that the mango could have been a little riper. But those flavors came together so well it hardly mattered. Excellent!"

  • "My husband and I went to The Anchor for a date night and loved it. We highly recommend the deviled eggs with smoked salmon... AMAZING. I really enjoyed the trout BLT and my husband liked the shrimp and grits. Only downside was pricing. We knew of the pricing prior to going, but wanted to try it anyway. We were not disappointed. We will definitely be returning just not as frequently as we would like due to price."

  • "Appetizers are the best thing here. They have good happy hour prices on drinks. Service is very slow and the main dishes aren't so great."

  • "The food was solid and service solid, but nothing spectacular. Paid 4.50 for an oyster that I almost needed a microscope to find. Did not meet my expectations."

  • "My daughter and I sat outside and enjoyed a fabulous lunch. I had the Trout BLT which was delicious and cooked perfectly. We also enjoyed the Crawfish Beignets and ordered Elotes with our lunch as a side dish. Would highly recommend The Anchor and cannot wait to partake in their dinner menu. My only complaint would be the server did not inform us of the "wholefish of the day" nor did she recommend any side dishes. The Elotes were a dish we requested after our initial order. However she was very nice and professional. This certainly would not prevent me from eating here again."

  • "Food was overpriced and portions were very small for the price. Didn't care for the calamari sauce or lobster roll sauce. LOVED the Mexican corn on the cob....best I ever had."

  • "I'm the frugal sort, so $71+tip is too high for me for a dinner for two. (only had one drink each). Wont be back due to price. other opportunities for fewer $. Food is good, but not worth $71 to me. Excellent location."

  • "Spent a very pleasant "ladies night" with attentive service from Josh. Arrived early as we had heard how crowded it gets and were surprised to be the first patrons of the evening (it filled up as we left).Food and drinks were delicious, but a bit on the pricey side. It was hard to choose from all the inventive seafood menu options and specials. In the end we started with iced oysters and Oysters Rockefeller. Then we split the Oyster Po-boy and Lobster Roll. Staff brought the plates already split, including the sides of a tasty slaw and crisp french fries. We had started on the outside porch, but even though the table was covered, a rainstorm eventually blew into the dining area. Wait staff was very helpful in relocating us inside."

  • "We enjoyed some of the best clam chowder ever, with a view of the Cincinnati Music Hall from our table! The rest of the meal was equally delicious. Plus, their location makes them the ideal place to eat when attending an event at the Cincinnati Music Hall."

  • "The food was very good but not worth the price. $25 for 3 scallops?? I basically had a corn dish for that price. Also service very slow.. 2 hours before we were eating our entree. The food was very tasty but even the appetizers were pricey for what you get.. 3 or 4 fried oysters not worth $9."

  • "My husband and I had a very good dinner here. Sat outside in the cozy patio overlooking Washington Park. Food was excellent. We were lucky enough to order the last two lobster rolls. Interesting cocktail menu. Recommend the gimlet. Only negative was very slow service as others were rushing to have dinner before the 7:30 opera. Also, curiously, at around 8:15 (we arrived at 6:45, with a reservation), our waiter approached us with request from the manager to vacate our table because of a party "that had been waiting to be seated for 30 minutes." We declined, had dessert (very good steamed lemon cake) and coffee. We invited the server to ask the manager to come and speak to us personally, but that never happened. The matter was dropped."

  • "A great restaurant for fresh seafood and easy place to go before Music Hall, including the valet parking. However, the noise level is higher than "energetic" and annoying, particularly trying to speak across a table to one person. The real issue is that although the seafood (oysters, Bronzini, etc.) were great, the chef messed with classic steamed mussels and put something hot/spicy in it, an 11 out of 10! I don't know if it was to hide not so fresh mussels (and on the small side) or what. We said something to the waitress, but it damaged an otherwise good experience. We have mussels many times because two can share, the bread is usually great and of course the whole idea is to "dip" the bread in the sauce--but not tonight. Bummer!"

  • "Except the amazing, delicious fish choices ! Our group of 10 had comfortable seating (not crowded), courteous service (knowledgeable but not annoying), & all selections came out hot, in good, paced order. Our meals included the trout BLT, oysters, scallops, po boy, peel & eat shrimp, kale salad, & deviled eggs. Cocktails were also creative and refreshing. Will return to try some of the other intriguing entrees."

  • "The atmosphere at Anchor is really fun - the only disappointment is the food. It would be fantastic if there could be a few more items added to the menu with more of a focus on quality. As is, it is good but not great."

  • "Not only busy with pre-Opera crowd, but first night of kickball brought in a lot of drinkers to the very small bar area. Sitting at a high-top in the bar made conversation difficult and the crowd slowed the kitchen down. Did make it to our seats in time though, and the food was great."

  • "I enjoyed dining at Anchor. This is the third time I ate there. The food is great."

  • "We have dined here four times now and always happy. The Atmosphere seems to have improved. This is all based on the lighting and the music, this time, both were low.. making for a cozy romantic feeling. The food, mainly fish, is always prepared in a clean and easy manner.. no crazy sauces hiding the flavor.. only nice enhancements.. We all started with fresh oysters.. then two diners had the grilled whole branzino with kale. I had the grilled calimari with tabouli starter.. I only wished it was heavier on the tabouli side.. but very good overall. The desserts are all divine. I do not have a sweet tooth, but can not pass up carmel pudding with sea salt."

  • "We had heard good things about this restaurant, but after dining here we will not recommend or return. I ordered crab legs that were so soggy I could not even crack them. I squeezed them over my plate and water just gushed out- they were saturated. My partner had fish and chips that were just bland. There was nothing extraordinary or unique about them. The service was okay, there were periods of time we did not see our server but she was friendly enough. Glad we tried the restaurant but we will not return."

  • "My wife and I went for a double date with some friends to this local spot in the OTR. This was our first time to the area for dining. The Anchor had a beautiful and romantic type of environment. The atmosphere was comfortable and intimate. Our server was pleasantly helpful and gave us great advice for what to order. I personally would recommend the BLT Trout sandwich. It is one of my favorite sandwiches I've ever had. It was affordable and overall I plan on going again and again. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a romantic night out in a new and upcoming area. "

  • "Had visited Anchor on two prior occasions with other couples and had outstanding experiences -- great food and great service. This last visit was with my 16 year old granddaughter. She was trying mussels and oysters for the first time. The waiter and the general manager were wonderful in connecting with her and making our visit truly memorable. Such a great place to eat outside facing Washington park activity and beauty and our food was prepared perfectly. I will be back often with my wife and friends, and I'm sure my granddaughter will be asking me to bring her back soon. "

  • "The Anchor is fantastic. I have never had a bad meal there and the staff is wonderful. If you like seafood, you really can't go wrong at the Anchor. They have a great selection of fresh oysters, wonderful fish selections, great cocktails and an incredible patio to eat on and enjoy the view of Washington Park and Music Hall. "

  • "Have had good experiences before for lunch & weekday dinners. But at 8:00 PM on a Saturday night, we found the restaurant very noisy and the music too loud for comfortable dinner conversation. We felt rushed - three courses in a hour - but would not have lingered anyway because of the noise. Thankfully the food was quite good. We had the clam chowder which was creamy and rich and filled with clams and potatoes. The mussels were tender and plentiful. Scallops over corn were pleasantly spicy and the scallops were perfectly cooked. I do wish our share request had been honored with the splitting of the dishes instead of bringing one dish and expecting us to divvy up the portions; particularly challenging with soup."

  • "The scallop dish was excellent - well balanced and generous portion. Music was a bit loud in the front room but the server turned it down after we commented on it. Quick and courteous service. I would like to see a few more menu choices."

  • "As the name implies, this is a place for fish lovers. Not much else on the menu if you do not like something from the sea. I had the special (lobster roll), and my dining companion had the scallops. Each entrée was delicious. The server was helpful, and attentive. "

  • "We had one of those evenings where everything went wrong with our dinner. Glad to see the Management handles their problems well. 8:00 dinner on a Saturday night and they were already out of several main dishes in a pretty narrow menu. That coupled with slow bar tenders, entrees that took 2 hours to get to our table and then, one needed to be sent back because it wasn't cooked made us glad we were out with people we liked and could laugh about the evening. The Generakl managare was terrific and gracious in apologizing and making things right with the meal. hopefully thinkgs become smoother in the operations as the place is lovely"
