Diner Reviews
  • "They have a small patio and great brunch menu that can satisfy everyone - eggs, amazing acai bowl and smoothies. Both, eggs and bacon and healthy eaters will be happy with the menu. Everything was fresh and tasty."

  • "Would go back there in a heart beat. Food is great!"

  • "Four of us dined on a Saturday night with each ordering a different entree. All were excellent. Great food was matched by fine service."

  • "This place in the middle of the Chelsea art scene is a convivial place to recharge after scouring the galleries. The chicken dish I had was delicious--unusual and perfectly prepared. Attentive and friendly staff and a nice ambience make this a go-to place in the neighborhood."

  • "Both brunch and dinner are really good at the Americano. The service is always off though. Either too slow or too keen, bringing the wrong drinks or clearing your plates whie you're still eating..."

  • "Any restaurant that takes you soiled fork and knife off your appetizer plate and places them down to be used for your entree is not worthy any star."

  • "We found this restaurant by accident while looking on line for someplace close to Madison Square Garden during restaurant week. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal. The ambiance was nice and the food was very good. We had a very attentive waiter. Would definitely recommend"

  • "Great Jazz music, choppy service. The waiters don't seem to know when thing arrive and when they do. Missing items have to be pointed out. Food was okay- nothing memorable. Ambiance was stellar."

  • "Service was excellent and friendly. All five of us agreed that the kale avocado salad was superb. The risotto with seafood was also one we would have again. The chocolate mousse dessert , while eaten, was just ok, the chocolate itself could have been better quality. Worth returning to this restaurant , and we liked the proximity to the Chelsea galleries."

  • "Great dinner at the Americano last week for an old friend's birthday during restaurant week! She was so impressed and loved it! The seafood risotto was excellent, as was the tuna tartare appetizer and chocolate mousse dessert and Da Bubbles drink. I often find the noise level uncomfortably loud in many restaurants. We were lucky that it wasn't at it's peak when we were there. I know that restaurants think that the clientele like loud places...makes it seem like a hot spot? But, I like to be able to talk to my dinner companion, so I don't go back to very loud places."

  • "Went here for Restaurant Week dinner. I had the kale salad (excellent), hanger steak (excellent) and the churros (very good). I also got to try the crudo appetizer (excellent) and the salted caramel bombe (excellent). Service was attentive and the place was very modern. I would definitely go back."

  • "A great experience altogether. Service is a delight and the place is a lot of fun. You chat with your neighbors, chat with everyone. Lots of different places to have a drink throughout the hotel. The rooftop area, the lounge, the restaurant and the space below. Great vibe and absolutely fantastic service. Great treat. The risotto / paella was wonderful. As always."

  • "Service was a disaster. Cup after cup was delivered to table dirty, one cup had another diner's tea in it. Chaos dominated the room of one of my favorite lunch places. It will be a while before I return."

  • "Nice quiet spot during the week to have breakfast with a friend. Terrific service. Huevos Rancheros was delicious. And loved the green smoothie."

  • "The food is really good and so are the smoothies. Portions are pretty small though. Not great value for money."

  • "We had a party of 7 for brunch, and I was able to get a reservation pretty easily. The space is excellent, the food, drinks and service were great, and we were not rushed even though we were there for a couple of hours. Will definitely go back."

  • "Friend of ours recommended their Sunday brunch. The menu is very minimal, food was quite tasteless, everybody on our table of 8 was disappointed. Service was incredibly slow and clumsy, we heard glass scattering on the floor at least 5 times during our 3 hrs brunch. Portions are very small and "of course" quite expensive. One of our desserts was forgotten but still appeared on the bill (quickly removed tough) Live jazz and mimosas were good though."

  • "This place is very nice, good food, & ambience. My only negative comment we went for brunch and they didn't have 2 of the entrees I wanted. I thought that was odd because it's not an extensive menu. Disappointing."

  • "I was search of a nice yet reasonable restaurant where my sister and I could celebrate on Christmas Eve. Americano was the ticket. The food was incredible and the staff extremely friendly and accommodating. The optional $65 prix fixe (compared to the usual $100-$150 offered at other restaurants that evening) was beyond worth it. The chef was kind enough to send out additional treats throughout the evening. I have been to the Americano several times before and can honestly say that they never disappoint."

  • "I love this restaurant after several visits. The space is architecturally beautiful, the food is excellent and just a bit different -- what they do with kale is marvelous -- the crowd is interesting, downtown and unpretentious, and the service is attentive yet unobtrusive. I never write reviews but this one is worth it."

  • "We had a wonderful brunch at The Americano. I recommend leaving the sauces on the side rather than having the server pour them over. You can always pour them over later if you decide you want to, and one of our dishes ended up somewhat drowned in smokey hot sauce. Good sauce but you couldn't taste the dish. Bloody Mary was delicious, but garnishes were only olives. Service was great, but note that I prefer a little extra space from a server over having them hang over me every minute. My Huevos Rancheros were a cool re-constructed version and delicious without the sauce or with a little dab for a change."

  • "Americano is perfect if you're going to see Sleep No More, a few doors away. The food is decent and the interior quite pretty. We were a little taken aback by how empty it was, though--at 7:30 on a Friday night. All of the surrounding hotspots were jammed...so I'm not sure what the problem is. Check it out before it either fills up or vanishes!"

  • "I love when the chef understands the big difference of serving the chilaquiles "crunchy" . They wait to put the sauce until they are in front of you , which is really nice. Provably I would recommend to ask for a bit of sour cream to enhance the flavor . That's the way they are served in Mexico. Molletes are great, and pancakes really delicious . I like the fact that is still an undiscovered place, it is full but not crowded. The place is nice & modern . Music is great ."

  • "Food was good but the service was just terrible. The wait staff and busboys clearly are in a fog. They wander aimlessly and don't notice customers waving at them for attention. It took three tries to get milk for tea, the water was never refilled without asking (we had to ask the hostess since no one else seemed to notice us), and our food was very slow to come out because the waitress said she was was waiting until we finished our entrees but once we stopped eating our starters for a good 10 minutes, she should have asked if we were done. Our dessert came out long after our tea. The coat check person disappeared so diners had to finally just go get their own coats. I've had some mediocre service here before but this was worse than ever."

  • "A little out of the way unless you are on the High Line but worth finding 'way out west' on 27th Street. The hotel dining room is very nicely outfitted and the patio (which we did not use as it was too humid, looks to be a nice addition for those who like outside eating. The food is 'Latinish' but good and well prepared. This may not be an outstanding place to eat but very well worth considering if you are in the area."

  • "The food is a blend between Latin and French. We sat at a table with a view of a beautiful courtyard. The food was amazing from beginning to end. Sometimes during this special week the waiters are rush and the food is not great, but this was definitely plentiful and very tasty. It was a 3 course lunch menu: We both started with a delicious cream of corn that had a little kick to it. Then our second course was a skirt steak for me and a risotto for my friend. They were both beautifully done. The meat had a Latin flavor with chimichurri sauce that was delicious. For the dessert we both chose the ice cream which was wonderful. The bread was warm and very hard to stay away from. The decoration of the restaurant is very modern and minimalist."
