A word from The American Hotel - Market Yard Grille
The Market Yard Grille, an American Bistro Style Restaurant and Bar, located in the American Hotel. Open 7 days for lunch and dinner until 11:00 pm, late night Tapas menu till 12:00 midnight and fabulous Sunday Brunch. Facing Main Street, the old world charm of the restaurant is reminiscent of a New York style steak house. Guests can enjoy a cocktail in the restaurant"s bar or while sitting with friends in front of the fireplace at the Lobby Lounge. The contemporary menu offers a tantalizing variety featuring steaks, seafood and bistro-style dishes. Favorites include the Market Yard Seafood Cocktail, the Tomahawk Rib Eye Steak, Mussels and Andouille Sausage, Steaks, Chops and Seafood, all with a delicious selection of sides.
The Tapas menu offers guests a smaller sampling of our chef's creative style. Favorites here are the famous Bento Box Sampler, Chopped Filet Tartar and Cajun Rubbed Ribs.

  • "My kids are in the 18 to 25 bracket. we sat outside take advantage of that if weather allows. Server was helpful and knowledgeable about the menu. Had some signature cocktails that were good. Food was great but its not a foodie place. Good burgers, steak, pasta. I had a chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries. I'd say food wise its better than an Applebee's or Ruby Tuesday. Its quieter outside though the bar does have TVs and sports is usually on. Definitely a place that people in a 10 mile radius should try and I can becoming a regular."

  • "We started going to the Market Yard Grill about a year ago and it has quickly become our favorite restaurant. The food, portions, and service are exceptional. We recently moved to the Farmingdale area. While we enjoy Stella Marina in Asbury Park, Piccolo Italia in Ocean and several other high end restaurants by the Jersey Shore this is by far the best. It's worth the 20 minute drive from the Deal/Asbury Park area."

  • "Great night!. Seated outside at a table where we could here the Live Music but still talk. Specialty drinks and excellent service made the meal that much better. Octopus salad was a great starter. Moved on to burgers and short ribs. Ribs were braised and meat was fall off the bone tender. Plus Tuesdays are half price wine night. Nice bonus."

  • "We Were Not Aware That The Sunday Brunch Was No Longer Available. The FooD We Ordered Was Tasteless The Monkey Bread Was Delicious. The Service Was Mediocre. My Friend Ordered Ry Toast And It Was Brought Out Burnt & Falling Apart They Brought Out 1 New Slice Of Toast. When We First Arrived We Were Not Sure Where To Go. There Was A Woman At The Front Desk. She Would Not Help Us Then Picked Up The Phone And Acted Like She Was Busy. This Place Was Recommended To Me Because Of The Buffet Brunch. I Will Never Recommend The American Hotel For Any Occasion.   • "We've dined here on many occasions, food always excellent Had Mother's Day dinner here find out there is a new chef and our favorite waiter followed him to the chef's new restaurant. One of our party ordered the rib eye steak and it was horrible, grizzly, fatty, and not cut like most rib eyes are presented. Mentioned this to the waiter he had no comment just presented the bill. The other entrees were fine. "

The six of us really enjoyed the music from the 60"s thru to current time. Really a fabulous plane to enjoy a meal and have fun while you're doing it. We're definitely coming back again !"

  • "Appetizers were only 50% edible. One had so much salt you could not eat it. They took it of the check which was the right thing to do. Entrees once again were only 50%. The steak was terrific, while the squab was not that tasty at all. We had been there before and thought it was pretty good. This visit, not so much. We will give it one more chance."

  • "I was disappointed to see that at last night's visit, when the check came for our party of eight (~$785) our waiter had added in a "suggested" 20% tip which included all of the alcohol....$35 per glass for Glenlevit 18, really! It's not Del Friscos. Additionally, two guys got into a fight on the makeshift dance floor, the kitchen help came flooding out to see what was going on...and complained that they missed the fight, wishing they had a chance to jump in. I'm not spending over $750 for dinner plus another $150 bar tab to see idiots get into a fight while I eat. We had come to celebrate a birthday and were all disappointed in the clientele that the Market Yard Grille is starting to attract. They lost 8 "regulars" last night."

  • "I'm a Open Table VIP. This will be our 6th time trying this establishment and I'm done! The food was okay, but not for the price you are paying. My Filet was well done when I asked for Med. Rare and my wife's steak was rare when she requested Med. -- Send it back! They are modeling the Resturant to be a Morton's or a Ruth's Chris but it's really an Outback or a Friday's with inflated prices - the service was very bad - our waitress stood behind our table and kept clicking her pen, never asked us for a drink, the bread was stale, the mash potato's were made with Elmer's Glue and as soon as you put your fork down to REST & RELAX she would pounce on you to take your plate away Very Bad She should go back to the Diner"

  • "Wife and I went there. Love their specials both food and drink. They had a half price wine night. Thoroughly enjoyed the meal. Service during the meal was great. Checked on the water, brought bred. Got our appetizer and entrees right and delivered at a nice pace. Then they clear the dinner plates and it falls apart. It takes forever to get a dessert menu, have the waiter ask for coffee and bring the bill. No idea if that is what the owner wants or what. The place was not crowded and there were sufficient staff. The service just fell apart at the end."

  • "The energy of the 2 sided bar, both restaurant side and hotel lobby side, are both inviting exciting and energetic. You will want to stay for just one more before dinner. The menu was sophisticated enough to hold up in an Manhattan or Red Bank location. The food was seasoned and prepared to the highest degree of perfection right down to the presentation. Service was under the radar but attentive, as it should be. The portions of some of the main courses were small. The U9 scallops shrank as they always do but three to a dish is not a meal. Now it starts to seam pricey for the portion. Similar with the braised short ribs in a huge bowl with tons of mash and little meat. Drinks and apps would be the idea for this place."

If you like West Coast and Australian wines they have a very good list. I know next to nothing about French or Italian wines. Food was excellent and the server gave us good advice when we had questions."

A little slow on appetizers but that doesn't take away from the atmosphere or good/attentive & friendly service & food quality enjoyed by all. When the child in our party was getting tired, they rushed her order so it could be served ahead of our main dish. Server was attentive throughout & offered good input on the dishes. Made for a lovely & relaxed meal out with extended family."

  • "Was eager to try the relatively new Market Yard Grille while I was back in town for the holidays. The renovation of the hotel and Grille were very tasteful and well done. Unfortunately, the food did not live up to expectations. Quality was on par with a mediocre casual restaurant, think Applebees, yet prices were closer to NYC fine dining. Maybe we caught it on a bad day. I certainly hope that was the case."

  • "We have been to the Market Yard Grille a handful of times since it reopened a couple of years ago and have been impressed each time. They are a very consistent restaurant, which is intended to be much more of a compliment than it might sound. They are not cheap, and are not BYO, so this is not an everyday place, at least for my wife and me, but whenever we go, we leave happy. I had the short ribs, which were perfect for the cold, snowy night when we went. My wife had a cajun pork chop which was also very good."

  • "Seafood and half price bottles of wine make Wednesday a popular evening at the Market Yard. Used Open Table and noted it was my wife's birthday. They brought a couple of glasses of champagne with our apps....nice touch. The smaller menu equals better quality. Would recommend this as a worth trying in the Monmouth County area. Staff is on point and professional."

  • "Tried the Sunday Brunch and I must say, it was well worth it. The selection had way more items that I really wanted to try but your stomach is only so big. I guess that could be considered a minus, but it's a really good minus, right? The items I did have were fresh and flavorful. I must say the eggs benedict were done perfectly and not the proverbial hard boiled eggs on a limp English muffin. The carving station's prime rib was nicely done and seasoned just right with crushed black pepper and garlic on the well browned outside. Desserts were fine, nothing exceptional and to be honest we were all full from everything else. Another big plus was the bottomless top shelf bloody mary or mimosa for two for only $10.00! We'll be back."

  • "There were plenty of open tables. The staff was standing around doing nothing even though several of the more popular items needed replenishing . Some of them were standing in the hall between dining rooms and you had to walk around them . When they did provide service to the buffet area, they hurried through the room rudely, without regard to diners attempting to make their way back to their tables. There was a good assortment of average dishes on the buffet, but nothing outstanding for the $42 price. The deserts were horrible, a big plus for anyone on a diet! The space was beautifully designed and built, but the walls were completely blank, no artwork, mirrors or decorating of any kind. It was like dining in a pretty warehouse ."
