The Ahwahnee Hotel Dining Room - Ahwahnee Hotel
Best prime rib I've ever had.Best prime rib I've ever had. Wine list by the glass is not so notable, we brought our own. Initial seating was not a happy experience, but we insisted on waiting for a good seat and it only took 5 minutes. The overall dinner was fabulous.5/20/2013 12:00:00 AMserver was fantastic. foodserver was fantastic. food was great. setting was spectacular. a little hard to get to but well worth it.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMSpectacular viewYou cannot miss the view of beautiful Yosemite Valley from the historic Ahwahnee Hotel dining room. The history and elegant beauty set an atmosphere that transcends any other dining. The service is attentive, friendly but not intrusive. The small plates were a nice option and a decent sized-portion, not to mention very tasty. The French Onion soup was a favorite our table. Their classic Caesar was very good as was the Polenta small plate. Breakfast or lunch are also a good option for a more affordable meal and full view of the scenery.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMIt was the crown jewel ofIt was the crown jewel of our wonderful Yosemite experience5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMAhwahneeDiningGreat old world charm. Great views of the granite rock walls from the dining room. Good food and service.5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMonce-in-a-lifetime mealIf you can't reserve (or afford) a room at the Ahwahnee, try eating there. It's pricey but so worth it. The dining room has a 34' ceiling, incredible views of Yosemite Valley, and incredible ambience. The staff were welcoming and made us feel like we were royalty. Hint: Arrive 45 minutes early, check in and ask for a window table, then wander around the hotel and surrounding grounds. We ate there for our last meal in Yosemite and will remember it for years to come. Highly recommended.5/15/2013 12:00:00 AMBest thing about the hotelGiven the room rate, I was quite disappointed with the hotel room I had and most of the staff I encountered. Thank heavens the restaurant was much different. The staff was excellent in all respects and the food was excellent. My waiter, whose name I can not remember, was wonderful. I was lucky enough to have him two nights in a row. I think he worked there almost 40 years.5/14/2013 12:00:00 AMelegent setting. Attentativeelegent setting. Attentative service. food very good. Good wine list5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMElegance in a National ParkFrom Christo at the piano to servers who have been in the park for 20-30-40 years, to the historic and awesome dining room, this is an experience not to be missed. The food is actually quite good for a national park (although the menu has some hits and some misses--trust your server), and the new "small plates" is great for the older diners who don't need all that food.5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMSpecial OccasionsTHe Ahwahnee cannot be surpassed in beauty--the natural gorgeous setting, and the magnificent dining area which
has been built to reflect the surrounding valley.
Just being at the Ahwahnee is an experience to be remembered.
The dinner was very good; salad was very mediocre, Caesar salad out of bag, excellent entree, and very good dessert.
The dining room area is so beautiful; and piano music complemented the scene wonderfully.
George Seeber5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMTruly a dining experience! It does not get more unique than sitting in the Ahwahnee Dining room and looking out the window to see deer roaming through the trees at the edge of the meadow. The live piano music adds to the ambience. The trip through Yosemite to this historic hotel is always a great way to end the day.5/6/2013 12:00:00 AMThe restaurant is in a beautifulThe restaurant is in a beautiful historic hotel in Yosemite Park. The view is spectacular; the ambiance is elegant; the food was nice. There is a somewhat limited selection of food. I would definitely go again. We had dinner there twice and lunch once.5/6/2013 12:00:00 AMDinner in the woodsImpressive and appropriate surroundings, friendly efficient staff, food exactly as requested, even the off-piste items - all well delivered and presented, and for a not too excessive cost. Our only negative is that the menu is a little on the predictable side. Overall well worth the fifty mile round trip for dinner - even the twenty minutes to find a parking space.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMYosemite NPService was OK but not up to the level I expected. Server lacked knowledge of drink menu but was otherwise efficient5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMAHWAHNEE DINING ROOM YOSEMITE PARKRequires reservations in advance even for breakfast. Dining room was virtually empty with sparse diners for the hour or so we were there. usual breakfast fare including some very good smoked salmon, cream cheese upon request but very stale bagels and no toaster. fruits were predictable and mediocre with preponderance of watermelon rather than berries which are in season in California. Scrambled eggs in a chafing dish-nothing cooked to order for the buffet. Other menu items available and pricey.
Server, David, been there for years. Bus person was friendly and efficient. A looked forward to experience that I wouldn't repeat again.5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellence at the AhwahneeThis restaurant has the most beautiful dining room. Set in the majestic Yosemite Valley, our table had a view of Yosemite Falls. The food and service was excellent. Please splurge and experience the Ahwahnee Dining Room. You'll be glad you did.5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMfoodprime rib was good on one plate but tough on another4/29/2013 12:00:00 AMSunday Brunch at the AhwahneeThe Ahwahnee: you have to see it to believe it. The great outdoors brought inside in the most elegant way is what makes this world famous dining room in the middle of one of the most beautiful places in on earth, Yosemite Valley. Its a dining room big enough to make a grand piano look small. Yes, it was a buffet, but the quality of the food was remarkable, the selection exensive, even the OJ was top notch. If you time it right, you can sample both the breafast items and the lunch items in one sitting as the buffet changes at 10:00 am, but you are welcomed to stay. Too bad I didn't have much room for more than a nibble from the "lunch" selection. It could have been being in Yosmite, but I prefer to give credit to the staff of the Ahwahnee.4/28/2013 12:00:00 AMFood and service was excellent.Food and service was excellent. Staff was very helpful and can't say enough about the dining facility.. Magnificent1/1/0001 4:00:00 PMSuperb, a meal to match the settingWell, as to ambience, it's the beautiful Ahwahnee Lodge dining room. The setting, the views in Yosemite are just outstanding. Now to the meal, a real treat. They had 2 appetizer specials on the night we were there that were perfect, scallops crusted with macadamia nuts and a wonderful seared Ahi. Then I had the polenta with rabbit and it was another hit. We paired it with a lovely wine from their well chosen wine list. I'll be looking for the recipe! Service was attentive, responsive but not cloying. Our waiter Bill and the captain Nancy worked in tandem to make it a magical. How can one put a price on such an evening, well worth it! We will be back!1/1/0001 4:00:00 PM
