The Abbot's CellarBeyond expectationsI went to Abbot's Cellar expecting to pay quite a bit for good, but not outstanding, food and I was very pleasantly surprised. We decided to get the paired tasting menu ($75) which included four courses and four paired beers. The first was grilled asparagus with a thin slice of house-cured ham, the second was crab risotto with preserved lemon (the best course IMO!), the third was sole with English beans in burre blanc, and the fourth was a cherry cake with creme fraiche and caramel sauce. All courses - including the paired beers - were very good, and very well executed, but the risotto stood out from the pack. The bill was a bit steep for a random Monday night out, but I did not leave disappointed!5/13/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Food and Beer PairingThis is a great place for delicious food and great beer. Like its sister restaurant, Monk's Kettle, but with a different cuisine. The beers are well organized on the menu. It keeps me from getting overwhelmed by the selection. The beer recommendations are always spot-on.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstandingWe loved this place. A large room that feels warm and intimate. You get the feeling that someone with a great eye and a sophisticated sense of design has put a lot of thought into every detail. We had the cod and the pork loin. Both were wonderful. The beer menu is extensive. The service was friendly and very knowledgable. Loved it.4/29/2013 12:00:00 AMCame here for my birthday-amazingCame here for my birthday-amazing service, amazing food- EXCELLENT beers! couldn't have asked for a better experience!4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMShortly after opening, myShortly after opening, my wife and i went with another couple to abbots. The service and beer choices/recommendations were great but the food was mediocre. Now, they seem to have worked out the kinks. I had the tasting menu with beer pairing all of which were interesting and super tasty. I cant wait to return soon.4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMBeer afficionado's delightI would out great wine list, but this place is really all about pairing food with beer, and they have a lot of beers. The food was excellent and the tasting menu was intriguing and well executed. We were espeacially mesmerized by the desserts.4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMDelightfulWe enjoyed the tasting menu at Abbot's Cellar on April 24, 2013. The menu was stamped with the date, so it would seem that there are new tasting menus daily.
The ambiance is rustic chic. The tables are set up along a long banquette wall and are spaced closely. There is sufficient room to move between tables although our dining neighbors were a bit loud. The first three courses were delicious and each course came with a special beer that was separately delivered by the beer sommelier. He described each brew as if it were a fine painting. They were all delicious. The dessert course or a "bitter" tangerine tart was completely tasteless (no bitter to be found except in my review of the dessert). Overall a delightful meal with attentive service4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMAs it was on our first visit,As it was on our first visit, the service was incredible at Abbott's Cellar. Additionally, the food was very flavorful, artfully presented, and ful of complexities you can't find elsewhere. Would recommend this place to anywhere and would always go back for a 3rd, 4th, etc time.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMWe were at the restaurantWe were at the restaurant celebrating my birthday. I really appreciated the fact that we were not rushed through dinner and dessert to get the table flipped.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMIt's a wonderful, very beerIt's a wonderful, very beer centric restaurant. Delicious and interesting food that is elevated to another level when paired with an appropriate beer (or wine). Don't be shy, ask your server for pairing suggestions. Our server really hit it out of the park with his suggestions of different beers with each dish, he was clearly well trained and cared about our experience. We ordered different beers so we could experiment a little and have some fun - it was perfect because we were sharing everything. I also liked that going with his suggestions got me out of my beer comfort zone and now I'm encouraged to go back and try more / different beers.4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMI came for the beer, but endedI came for the beer, but ended up enjoying the food as well. Will be back!4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMA Mission Eatery Worth the HypeI took my boyfriend to the Abbot's Cellar for his birthday. Neither of us had been before, but were both really impressed. We had a mussel appetizer, which was incredible. I had a pork loin entree, which was perfectly cooked and really flavorful. Our waitress was very knowledgable of the extensive beer menu and made good pairing recommendations. The space was also amazing—high ceilings, reclaimed wood, a stark and elegantly lit bar—it was quite gorgeous. Also, the acoustics in the restaurant were fantastic. Even though it was a busy Saturday night and people were congregating at the bar behind us, it wasn't noisy at all and still very easy to carry on a conversation. I can't wait to go back!3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMToo expensive for what weToo expensive for what we got . The $23 quinoa pasta had less than 20 pieces of pasta, for example.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AM
