Went to Palmeira Brasil for dinner
with a friend. The atmosphere hasn't changed too much from previous restaurants, but I liked it all along. The service was excellent and attentive. The food was well presented and quality. I really liked the Brazilian cocktail that I ordered, though that might have been the one downside to the meal was that the drink menu wasn't really supplied and I had to ask for it. Sadly, this location (and I know the previous two restaurants) doesn't seem to get as much traffic, so the place wasn't that full. I think it's for this reason they told me they were planning to completely remodel in a few weeks and change into a Jazz establishment, so if you're interested go while you can!"

Decided to go somewhere we haven't
been before. Reservation was for 7pm, and we were only two of four people eating in the entire place. Very nice ambience, friendly staff, trendy , but somewhat shocked that it wasn't busier for a Saturday night. Food was ok. Had crab cakes, which were good, and a steak , ordered medium well and it came back well done ( both of ours) with potatoes that we're not completely cooked through. Maybe it was just an off day for them. I would give them one more try, but definitely expected a little more from them."

We went on a Friday night around 7
PM. There may have been 3 or 4 other parties there. Service was quick and diligent, perhaps to a flaw. They tried taking dishes before we were finished. We only had main courses, and while mine was delicious, the rib, it lacked bone. My companion had the fish, which was bland. She even borrowed my sauce to flavor it up. Music came on about 30 minutes before we left, but the environment just lacked the appropriate mood for live, jazz music. While nothing was wrong, the food just wasn't very exciting, I'd have difficulty recommending to others."

Went to see great music and have
good food to boot. Very satisfied. Service was what one should expect. Glad to see Jazz won't be just Teusday but Friday also. Looks like quite a variety and expect to check that out."

Heard some of our musician friends
play that night on July 19 , place was pretty empty. We were told summer gets quiet around this part of New Haven. . I had the Spicy Coconut Cod which was really good, Calamari was good... spicy .My husband had the Brazilian sampler for dinner, seemed most of it was over cooked & burnt. The waiter was great. Very helpful explaining the menu & wine list.. We were thinking maybe they had another chef that night (?) so we will give it another try when we go back. Since we are musicians too,we sat in and the owner offered us a gig in October.....Can't complain about that!. I hope they do well, the place is really cool. And the people are very friendly."

I recently ate at this restaurant
for dinner on a Sunday at 5pm and we were the only customers there. The waiter was very nice and attentive and the owner came out to greet us. The food was tasty and Brazilian inspired. Not as authentic as on 46th Street in NYC or Rio. The bartender didn't arrive until 7pm, when I am assuming it gets livelier. The only issue with that was we were only able to drink wine, beer, and a Caipirinha. My friend had a Caipirinha I had the wine. Both were good. I had a steak that was well seasoned and cooked to medium rare as I specified. My friend had the Chicken Stew offering, which was also tasty and served with coconut rice. The pastel appetizer was delicious as was the crab cake made with real lump crab."

Maybe we caught them on an off
night Our meals were just okay The service was fine and the place is nice but we were disappointed that it lacked any real Brazilian flare. Food was average"

My wife and I dined at Palmeira on
a recent Saturday night and enjoyed very good food and excellent service. The restaurant is under new (and very capable) management. Apparently the previous owners "were not restaurant people" so if you've heard bad things about Palmeira, that may be why. Our waiter, a young man from Brazil, was very helpful in narrowing down our choices as many of menu items sounded very good. We settled on a "family style" dinner for two which included two entrees and two sides. We had two traditional Brazilian dishes, a fish stew and a chorizo and bean dish. Both were very flavorful as were the sides. The South American wines we had were very good and more reasonably priced than at many other restaurants these days."

I loved Palmeira! The drinks were
shockingly delicious, and the food was splendid. In comparison to the food and drinks, the atmosphere was quite stale. I would rather that the place were more vibrant and exciting with louder music, something that would reflect Brasil's exciting culture a bit better. I still highly recommend it, especially for those looking for a quiet and elegant place to eat and drink."

The location has hosted a number
of unsuccessful restaurants over the last few years, but my wife and I thought we'd give it a try. We were the only ones there on a Thursday night except for a few people at the bar. A hummus appetizer was very good and in terms of the main entrees the fish tacos were fresh (my choice) and my spouse had a Salmon dish which was also outstanding. The only complaint we had was that we actually thought there was TOO much food. For dessert, we had bread pudding which was a little dry, but they also served us some native Brazilian chocolate truffle-like balls, which we thought were outstanding! This place can and should develop a healthy following!"

The night I visited Palmeira, this
nicely appointed restaurant with good food also featured a live performance by the very talented trio Sambeleza, which specializes in Brazilian music. They provided the perfect accompaniment to a fine dining experience."

Food great. Service slow and
uncoordinated. As restaurant was open for only one week, expect that service will improve as the kinks are worked out. Will definitely return."
