Created in partnership with Scott and Gina Gottlich, The Second Floor Bistro - Bar features sophisticated, yet contemporary, cuisine and an intimate dining experience. The restaurant’s 2,500-square-foot dining area is completely enclosed in glass and features a terrazzo floor, ethanol-burning fireplace and warm color scheme to create an inviting, relaxing ambiance.

The restaurant’s a la carte menu features a distinctive and creative spin on contemporary cuisine, original cocktails and one of the largest Scotch collections in Dallas – perfect for an after-work escape, shopping-trip interlude or weekend-getaway indulgence.

  • "The 2nd Floor is tucked away on the second floor of the Westin Galleria Hotel. It is an unassuming space with a welcoming quality that makes you relax and stay a while. The menu has enough variety for almost any diner and the service is excellent. It was quiet, comfortable and perfect for our group of four. The restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner and has a full bar with a knowledgeable staff to assist you with selecting the perfect wine for your meal. They also have a huge selection of scotch and whiskey lined up behind the bar. The seasoned staff will make you feel like a regular. Thanks for a great meal!"

However, the person who welcomed my quest and I to the restaurant was very professional in knowing my name, recognized my reservation, and walked us to our table."

  • "Anyone looking for an upscale bar has come to the right place. The drink menu is fantastic, and they have an excellent availability of top shelf liquors. Our reservation showed up cancelled somehow, but our party was seated quickly in under 5 minutes. The food took awhile to come out, but it was totally worth the wait. Our table had pork chops, shrimp & grits, burgers, and salmon. Everyone loved what they ordered. You can order half portions which I appreciate so I don't have leftovers or feel stuffed. The service was very friendly and helpful. We had a great time and felt comfortable the entire time."

  • "we were looking for something upscale but no crowds. we found 2nd floor by chance. wide range menu with a 5 star attempt but only 3 star execution. we had fish which was nice but seemed to have bad choices accompanying the fish by the chef. I would go back more for the location while shopping than to seek out for the special occasion."

I went to celebrate a recent engagment and even wrote that when making my reservation, however, no one acknowledged this so I was underwhelmed with that factor. My fiance had a great meal, however, mine was nothing special. For the money, I would probably go somewhere else."

  • "We made reservations for Valentine's Day and had the special four-course (two shared) menu, with several selections offered for each course. We chose the Chateaubriand for two main course and it was fabulous! Large slices of rare beef arranged on a large platter with bearnaise, fingerling potatoes and sautéed veggies. In fact all the dishes were creative and very tasty and the servers took excellent care of us without hovering or rushing us. Our only criticism is the room where we were seated was like a hotel conference room with glass doors opening toward the mall, disconnected from the dining room and bar. The minimalist décor was cold and uninviting, with weird lighting, a non-functioning bar and a TV on one wall. Needs work!"

  • "We had a nice date and my girl is a foodie for sure. The wine pairings were great! The service was good and the waiter juggled the table ratio well (8:1). The private dinning room was an all white setting which isn't my ideal but somehow it worked. Overall a good experience. We will be back."

  • "2nd Floor is a nice modern restaurant but the service was slow and we constantly had to remind the waiter for our wine to be delivered. (We did a wine paring with each course.) The bar get loud later in the evening ruining the end of a romantic dinner. Just be sure to ask to be seated in the main part of the restaurant. The food was good but nothing to blow you away."

  • "This was my wife and I's first time dining with The 2nd Floor. (Keep in mind that we only went for dessert, and we got there after the Valentine's Dinner had ended) Our reservation was for 10:30pm and was meant to be a Dessert and After-Dinner Drink stop to end our Friday night as the restaurant is located a short walk from our hotel. Service was lackluster at best...no real "wow" moments with our server. The food was very good. My wife and I each got a dessert (I highly recommend the Apple Pie with Yuzu Ice Cream). The only real "deal-breaker" for us was that the bar area was so loud with a large group of young, working-class suits that we simply could not enjoy each others company, or even hear each other speak for that matter..."

  • "Have a weekly meeting with an elderly gentleman who is hard of hearing. We often find ourselves in loud restaurants, and we have difficulty hearing each other. 2nd Floor was very quiet. Wonderful comfy chairs. The food was outstanding. Excellent taste. Little pricey for lunch. But very good experience. Staff was a bit stand-offish. Could have been friendlier."

  • "So 2nd floor needs to step bit up on their dinner menu. I stayed one night at the westin and decided to make reservations for my boyfriends birthday and we were not impressed. Nick was our server, he was awsome and attentive. The deviled eggs were okay, the shrimp and grits were fine, although the shrimp was colossal and seasoned nicley the grits were cold and not very cheesey. My boyfriend ordered the applewood chicken. I have to say it tasted like barbecue smoked chicken (before you slather the barbecue sauce). After dinner we were ready for the check, when it arrived Nick placed cheesecake pops in front of us compliments of the chef for a birthday dessert. Very nice. All in everything it was just okay."

  • "Ive visited the hotel bar section of the 2nd floor several times and have read great things about their full menu. Never actually was aware that the sit down restaurant was behind some thick curtains from the bar. Nice division but the dining area felt more like an overflow room. With the cotton bowl guests taking up the lounge and bar area it was a bit chaotic, once on the other side of the curtain more solitude. Great food. Only complaints were we felt a bit isolated and forgotten at times. This was partially bc on a busy thursday there were only 2 people running the entire show on the floor."

  • "Our plans changed and we suddenly needed dinner reservations ON New Year's Eve. I was delighted to find that The 2nd Floor was doing a special NYE menu (at a great price!), and still had reservations available. We were scheduled for 6:30 but arrived a little early and were seated promptly. The dining room was neither full nor deserted; it felt exclusive, like a well-kept secret. Our server was friendly and extremely attentive without being obtrusive. She answered all of my questions and made excellent food and drink suggestions. The prix fixe holiday menu had plenty of options, even for pescatarians. The food was very good, although the portions were quite large - we both left half our entrees untouched. Try the Manhattan!"

  • "Heard about the 2nd floor for a while and been wanting to try it. I live very near the Galleria so anything good and convenient should be explored. The food was quite good, excellent service, and the room is very warm modern style, that's not stuffy. I will definitely go back and bring friends. They also have free valet parking, and as soon as you enter the Westin lobby, you take the escalator immediately on your right and you are there."

  • "I took my family here for the Thanksgiving buffet.The description of the buffet was much better than the actual buffet. I was disappointed with the quality of the meat and desserts. The side dishes were varied and good, but the meats were either too dry, too fatty or not very flavorful. The desserts were fair and not the caliber expected for the price and location. The way the buffet was set up was also very awkward. I did not even know they had a salad bar until I was through the line with the sides and secondary meats. The main meat table, which had a bland turkey and fatty prime rib, was also hard to notice. The service people were very nice and the restaurant itself was contemporary. Perhaps the food on the regular menu is better."

  • "I attended the Thanksgiving buffet. The selections were amazing in their creativity as they were all new takes on standard Thanksgiving fare. Of course there was the carved turkey and prime rib which were delicious. But the other options were creative, visually attractive, and clever in their new perspective on old favorites. I thoroughly enjoyed everything I ate! I look forward to their next holiday buffet and will make a point of attending it. Oh, and their scotch/bourbon selection at the bar is beyond compare. I have never seen any bar carry my favorite scotch and they had three different bottles from the same distillery. 5-stars on all accounts!"

  • "Had made reservations for 1:30 and arrived at 1:10 and was seated at 1:40. That entire time two tables for two stayed vacant. The good news: The Prime Rib, Roasted Turkey, both the Apple and Chocolate Tarts and the wine were excellent. The Bad News: The Chicken was barely warm and tough, the salmon was cold as was the green bean casserole. The cookies were stiff, powdery and tasteless."

  • "Many diners do not appreciate the skill and coordination of efforts required to prepare and serve a quality buffet. In many ways, it is much more difficult than serving a regular meal. The quality and variety of food was outstanding- some traditional dishes for a traditional holiday plus some great surprises. The dessert station was a highlight, and the animated turkey- I think they nicknamed him "Tom"- was a delight for young and old alike. REALLY appreciate the addition of an 18% gratuity to the checks. Again, a buffet requires a huge effort by the staff, and some diners do not understand this. Staff were great and very friendly. Free valet parking with validated ticket is another plus. WELL DONE!"

  • "The Second Floor chefs have just introduced the fall seasonal menu. I had a wonderful grilled cheese sandwich with two exotic cheeses, a bowl of chicken soup and salad. A simple lunch made wonderful with its unique ingredients and flourishes. The grilled cheese sandwich had 2 melted cheeses on buttered Texas toast slices-both basic and luxurious. The chicken soup had fragrant mushrooms and diced chicken and had a smooth subtle flavor. The salad greens were dressed in a light vinaigrette. I really like the way the chefs at Second Floor add unique flourishes to comfort food and then also serve haute cuisine bistro food. Whenever we need a treat during the day, this is the place we go."

I had to raise my hand after waiting about 30 minutes for the bill. Manager should be more involved and noticeable and not just when something is wrong or just when food is delivered. This was my second time going to this restaurant and or was the same experience."

  • "We enjoyed our experience at the 2nd Floor. The filet Daniel that I had was cooked to perfection, and the bernaise sauce that went with it was to die for. My fiance's ribeye was also cooked to his liking. The service was very good, and we never had to ask for our water cups to be refilled. Oh man, and you have to get the deviled eggs for an appetizer. Whatever they put in the filling is addicting! Overall I would recommend this restaurant."
