For a hotel restaurant in a Galleria, it is a true "find". Unlike most restaurants in shopping malls, it is small, intimate (request the back room away from the bar), and the menu is eclectic. There are some standard menu items, but also some very unique ones. Try the devil eggs with crispy smoky duck appetizer (unique) or the filet mignon Daniel (more standard). Both were excellent as was this week's special halibut entrée. The chef has a knack for putting together different ingredients that seem to complement each other without some overwhelming sauce or spice but it could also be luck of the draw. Ask the waiter if you are unsure. It's the only restaurant I know that offers wine at 1/2 price on a Saturday. Service was great.

Kelly was our server and she was great, her service would make me come back when they change their menu to the Fall menu. We went for restaurant week, I ordered off of the regular menu and had shrimp and grits. The shrimp were huge! They had a long wine list, but I don't drink so can't help you there. It is worth checking out. The restaurant is small and probably only seats a total of 60 people max. Ask for Kelly

We were thrilled to meet and converse with Seth, the curator of all alcoholic choices at 2nd Floor. He takes a great deal of pride in his work, and the beverage menu reflects this. Seth spoke my husband's language (Scotch), and educated us on a few facts, which delighted us both. The smoked chicken was spectacular! Nick served our food with an authentic heart of hospitality. Can't wait to go back.

No complaints about the food. Our party of three enjoyed each course. The service was terribly, terribly slow and inattentive. We had to ask for drinks, ask to order our food, ask for more water, ask for wine, ask for our check. He could have sold us another bottle of wine if he had been paying any attention. The dinner took over three hourse and the restaurant was not very busy. It was strange. I would have given the ambience another star but for the fact that the extremely casual bar area was not particularly separated from the small dining room. The dining room space was lovely - calm and elegant. Better service would make The 2nd floor an enjoyable spot.

I enjoyed the food. There is a front and rear dining room. I prefer the quieter places to the see and be seen crowd, so I opt for the back. I've been here before and it was nice and quiet, but this time a big group came in and it got a little loud. Not the restaurants fault, just something that happened. Staff is welcoming and service is great. Prices are reasonable too. I had a great experience.

The new chef at The 2nd Floor has made some extraordinary enhancements to the dinner menu. The Foie Gras Mousse appetizer is one of the best I've ever eaten. Worth the trip just for that alone. If you like Bleu cheese- REALLY like it- then the Bleu Cheese hamburger is to die for. There is also a "regular" hamburger which is perfect. For dessert, we shared an order of beignets, and we were equally enthusiastic about this new addition; the three sauces that accompany this dessert are all excellent. For a unique cocktail, try the Spiked Arnold Palmer: sweet tea Vodka and homemade lemonade. Delish! Service was friendly and attentive. We'll be back!

My wife, son and I visited The 2nd Floor for Mother's Day Buffet Brunch. The restaurant seated guests in two different rooms, one of which was beyond the elevators of the Westin hotel that owns the restaurant. Navigating waiting elevator traffic to get to service tables situated in the lobby was uncomfortable. Menu choices were standard brunch fare, minus a few that one normally sees. Some chilled foods were not iced, creating a concern. Many hot selections were picked over and slowly replaced or, in some cases, never replenished. Many selections were rather tasteless, as if prepared far in advance and warmed under hot lights. The dessert selection was wide. Service was impeccable, but we left feeling that we would not return.

The food was good but the price was WAY too high. My party of five for Mother's Day brunch included my 3 children. An 18% gratuity was added to our bill for "large groups." Given that we served ourselves except for drinks, that seems excessive. Not to mention that the total bill was well over $400. I was expecting high prices, but a $400 brunch is a sign that the 2nd Floor thinks much more highly of the food they serve than most brunch-goers will. After the first seating, there was no one waiting to be seated.

    Dined on 3/31/2013
Excellent buffet with a generous number of dishes one normally wouldn't fund: delicious duck hash, pork belly Eggs Benedict, carved roasted Salmon- plus dozens of other enjoyable choices. New Chef is doing a great job. The unlimited Mimosa bar was well conceived and executed. Probably the best cooked-to-order omelet I've had. Appealing decorations and an Easter Bunny who was a hit with the kids. I felt the dessert station didn't match the rest of the buffet in terms of choices offered. Service was very friendly even if there were occasional hiccups. Look forward to returning for the Mother's Day Brunch.

The Second Floor is a gem. Wait staff is friendly and accommodating. Food is great and changes so there is a nice variety. The french dip sandwich is great. all the salads look artful. i really like the blue cheese hamburger with fries-their sweet potato fries are very popular. Great place for a quiet lunch when you want to get away from craziness of the mall. And it is easy to get in and out of the Westin-valet parking is quick and easy.

Every restaurant can have a bad day, and we seem to have caught The 2nd Floor on a bad day. We were there for Sunday brunch; it wasn't terribly crowded, but they were slow to take our order and then took almost 40 minutes to get it to us. And even then, one of the three orders was served cold and needed to be redone. To their credit, they treated us well and recovered as best they could. The food itself was excellent once it got there.

Food was okay, I expected it to be a little tastier. I got the grilled tuna on my salad, my hubby got something I can't remember. It is a hotel restaurant, with the good and bad things related with its kind. The service was outstanding, very well trained waiter, the food was simply good. The spinach salad was very well prepared, and great dressing. The pasta -farfalle- was too zesty, more lemmon that needed, the scallops were salted in excess. The place was emty, only two tables. They had 50% discount on bottles of wine. The price a little bit high, which is normal in restaurants in hotels.

We reserved through open table at the 1,000 point time. However, when we arrived they seemed disorganized and surprised to have us. The staff was cordial however, it was apparent they really weren't expecting diners. The football game was on the televisions and it was really set up for bar service and not full meals. The food was fine and the lone bar tender did his best to wait on us and tend bar, as well. My recommendation, if you're not ready for full meal service don't advertise it on open table.
