That's Amore is consistently very
good. The wait staff has been there for years and to me that is a sign of a company that cares for their staff. The food is great and very consistent. Compared to the other Italian restaurants in Gaithersburg Germantown area they are eaisly the best."

We found That's Amore to have a
good menu, a fabulous desert menu and romantic atmosphere. The pasta was good and the seafood special was very good and unique compared to other restraurants in the area. The desert was very good and in our case served with exspesso. The only down side for me was the very limit beer selection."

Good food. Great service. Old
school Amore for sure. Its about the ambience and old school charm."

We've been here a few times but on
Friday Feb 28th we had a bad time with a waiter and I had to ask the manager to remove him from our area. The restaurant was not crowded by any stretch but the waiter was full on exasperated – he was complaining to us that he was over worked. He took a drink order, brought my cocktail back and disappeared for 15 minutes without brining my wife’s wine. When he finally brought the wine after I asked another waiter where he was – he dropped the wine bucket at the table and stalked away without opening it… even though the food was good the behavior of the first waiter set a poor tone for the meal. Will think hard before returning and if we do will make darn sure we do not have the same waiter."

sewrvice was outstanding and food
was very good. Loved the desserts."

We found the service to be prompt
and efficient. Food was of good quality although the marinara sauce didn't seem as tasty as when we were last here, a few years ago."

That's Amore has been around a
long time, and went through a change in ownership; however, it continues to a great place for business/family dining; our recent visit was characterized by the usual great food and service!"

They were crazy busy but our table
was ready when we got there and was in and out super fast. Our waiter never stopped moving and I was shocked at how well he handled everything. I will definitely be returning soon."

Been here numerous times, wish I
had known they were on OpenTable. As always, the food was amazing; but unforutnately, as always the service was slow. Thankfully we left enough time before the movie started, we arrived at 7:30 and didn't leave til 9:20 because of our absent waitress. Appetizers took a half hour, and drinks almost as long!! To top it off, the manager needed to be called over and then proceeded to argue with us about a coupon, even though she eventually fixed the bill. If the food wasn't sooo good, I'd stop coming. You really can't go wrong though, every single thing they make is delicious, just be prepared to spend some time there until they train their staff. One of the best places for lamb around, and great ravioli dishes."

The service was top notch and the
food was very good. Overall rating, excellent"

The place starts to fill up about
5:45-ish. We had arrived at 5:15 and the place was just starting to have patrons. By the time we left at 6:30 the place was full. We never felt rushed, and the different courses were spaced nicely apart. We did have to wait longer than what I felt we should have, and the person who said she'd bring the dessert tray did not do so and about 8 minutes later our waiter saw we hadn't received dessert and brought the tray out. All the food was well prepared, hot (if appropriate), and very tasty...except we did not like the mushroom appetizer. I loved the Risotto with Shrimp, though there were only four shrimp - would have been a better balance with at least six."

I always enjoy dining at That's
Amore. Always great food."

Very comfortable and attentive
dining experience. Suitable for small or large parties, intimate yet family oriented. Italian food and salads. Prices are middle of the road. Excellent servers."
Dined on 1/20/2014
The chicken vesuvio was worth the
wait. Our server warned us it was cooked to order but we weren't in a rush so we lingered over appetizers. Wow! The chicken and potatoes were nice and garlicky - really good. We also had the grilled calamari, mussels marinara, and cheese ravioli. All were very good. Our waiter was busy, and rushing around, but still gave us great service. A great dinner."

I went to That's Amore to
celebrate January Birthdays with family. The food service was good. They do not rush you. I hate when the appetizers and the entrée come out at the same time. That is not the case as this restaurant. My dish was hot and fresh. Even the solo portions are big enough to share family style. We all had an enjoyable meal."
Dined on 1/11/2014
That's Amore is one of the best
traditional Italian restaurants in the area. Classic dishes like chicken/veal Picatta, Marsala, Parmigiana are excellent. "Solo" portions are generous, "Family" portions are huge, easily serve 2-3 people. Amore Insalata is a good starter salad with Italian meat and cheese (like a cold antipasto)."

Finding a restaurant that delivers
good food and service for a large family on a major holiday is a tall order. That's Amore delivered. There were a few challenges (spilled wine and steaks not made to order), but the service compensated and resolved everything quickly. And, true to form, That's Amore food was yummy! Pleasing 2 toddlers, 4 20-something's, and parents/grandparents is a challenge. That's Amore was a hit!"

We have been going to That's Amore
for several years as a special treat on Christmas Eve. The Grilled Calamari is an outstanding way to start the meal. All entrees are well-prepared with abundant-sized servings. We took enough home for at least one more dinner! We had the eggplant parmigiana and the fettuccini with shrimp and scallops. Excellent. Unfortunately, no room for dessert. Service was a bit inattentive this year, but we certainly were not rushed at all."

Family portions were a great deal.
Had delicious rock fish and lasagna and salad. Will definitelygo back!"

My family of 7 needed a place to
celebrate my granddaughter's 18th birthday and my husband's 70th. That's Amore fit our need perfectly. We liked being able to share the entrees; pasta is the number one choice for our 18-yr-old; I enjoyed a restaurant with tablecloths on the table and fine service! Food was fine; desserts to die for."

Great spot for a lunch meeting
with a group of 6. We could talk and easily hear each other and the wait staff was attentive without being annoying. Food was excellent!"

We had a Living Social deal for
That's Amore. We each got a salad; my husband was very pleased with his Amore salad that had cheeses and meats in it. The only negative was my salad-- a Caprese salad which is tomato slices topped with fresh basil and mozzerella. The tomatoes were bland in color and taste. I feel that, unless you can serve a dish the way it's supposed to be presented, then pull it from the menu. Tomatoes are very seasonal. I hoped the would have some that weren't the hothouse kind. Our meals were so generous we each had lunch the next day. I got the shrimp and scallops in a pink sauce -DELICIOUS! My husband got a steak, but it was slightly overcooked (more medium well than the medium rare he ordered.) Desserts--YUM~"

No variety of food. Two platters
were empty for quite a while. There was no pasta as mentioned when we called. Seafood was one mefiocre platter only. Desserts were horrible- look no different from those at Costco. Wouldn't recommend this restaurant."

Visiting the area, I needed to
find a nice lunch spot for a friendly meeting. The online information was helpful, with easy reservations and great menu viewing. The menu had great options, the food was delicious and plentiful, the wait staff had perfect timing, and the prices were just right. I also appreciated the staff's effort to help us with transportation. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to others and plan to go again when I'm back in the area. Thank you for an awesome lunch!"

Service and quality used to be
excellent, but they have gone downhill. The restaurant was virtually empty on Sunday night at 6pm, but for another large party and some scattered couples and 3-tops. Our server - while very nice - disappeared for 20-30 minutes at a time. We had 2 children with us. After she delivered the kids menus which we had to ask for 20 minutes after being seated, she did not come back to take their orders until we flagged her down 10 mins later. 1 in our party ordered soup and was told 30 minutes later they do not have that kind, so he ordered another kind which came out 30 seconds before his meal. 4 of our meals were served at room temp. For a $200 meal, we will definitely go elsewhere next time."

We've been living in the area for
several years and we pass That's Amore all the time. We should have kept passing it but we decided to try it. What a disappointment! The server was terrible and the food worse! There are many other great Italian restaurants so avoid this one."

Our high school girls went to your
restaurant for an after Homecoming, surprise birthday party. It was a great venue for the girls to wear their pretty dresses. Our family has been coming to That's Amore for Christmas Eve dinner for many years. It has become a tradition. We Love it!"

That's Amore began some
twenty-five years ago, or so, at this flagship location in Rockville. At its peak, it expanded to seven locations in the greater Baltimore-Washington area. After the business was sold, it went through a metamorphosis, with locations closing one at a time. The Columbia, MD location was the penultimate location to close. And now, the Rockville location remains its first and last location. Excellent southern Italian food served individually, or family style; just like Sunday dinner at my Italian grandparents' home. Chicken Vesuvius is my favorite: char-grilled half chicken with roasted garlic potato wedges. I always get a garden salad to start, and a side of Spaghetti Bolognese. I highly recommend That's Amore."

This was the first time we dined
at That's Amore with family, as my husband and I like to come here for a romantic dinner from time to time. We arrived to find that my request to have a round table for 6 was ignored, and they had arranged a long table. She apologized and did move us to a round table, but we had to wait a few minutes while they made the decision. First off, the grilled calamari is ALWAYS very delicious and cooked perfectly. The bread is also fresh and good. We decided to try ordering family style, but they were not much larger than the single entrees (which are quite generous). I would not order that way again as there was barely enough food even with appetizers. We ordered three family sized entrees for 6 people."

The service was awful. I am a
native Washingtonian and I am used to ugly, but the waiters were completely unresponsive to us. I had to ask for water (as did members of my party), the waiters had no idea who ordered what, they were NOT helpful in suggestions and they were never around. We were more than 6 people so their tip was guaranteed. We asked a couple of questions (really simple questions - we wanted to split the bar and food tab) and we were pretty much yelled at that they didn't do separate checks. All we wanted to do was put the bar tab on one tab. If that couldn't be done, fine, but it actually could be done. The waiters just didn't bother to listen. An empty restaurant on a Fri. night in Rockville is a rarity. We know now why"

Amore is a nice place and the food
use to be very good, not last night. We ordered an appetizer, a salad, and a main course. The salad was brought out before the appetizer. My Mom’s main course was wrong and the fried potatoes that came with my dish were soggy; in the past they have done better."
Dined on 9/23/2013
We had been to the restaurant many
times and always found if an enjoyable experience. This time the food was as expected - well prepared, flavorful and a good value. That said however, the service was lacking. Our food was well presented and tasted well although a requested item was not present. The big problem arose when a glass of tea was spilled on the table and clean-up assistance was needed. There was no one to be found - not immediately nor 10 to 12 minutes later. We were able to get the attention of a bus person from the adjacent room, but no waiter appeared until check time. Had it not been for this oversight of attentiveness, the experience would have been to the normal excellent standards of this fine establishment."

I didn't know that I
talian-American restaurants like this still existed especially "off the baten track" in North Rockville! This was like the places my father would always take the family back in the 50's! The dark wood panelling, startched white tablecloths (at lunch!), the "mature" wait staff - everything just as I remember it. As was the menu. None of your high tech food, this was solid pasta, chicken/veal (parmigiana, saltimboca, marsala, etc) all well prepared and promptly served. And reasonably priced!"
Dined on 8/1/2013
My husband and I come to this
restaurant every month or two, and although the service is sometimes not perfect due to change in staff (often get new waitstaff), they are always extremely pleasant and accommodating and they fix any misunderstandings. The food is typical Italian fare, delicious and hearty, always cooked correctly. Management is always present and supervising service, which is so important. We can always count on a great meal in a pleasant atmosphere with excellent wine choices."

This was the chosen place by a
family member for their birthday dinner. I haven't been to this restaurant in over 10 years and don't remember much since. The place wasn't crowded for a Saturday evening (maybe due to people out of town for the July 4th weekend). Our server provided outstanding service. The menu provided plenty of items to choose from (adults & kid's). The food was good overall; the bread basket provided variety of breads and our party chose mostly items with seafood items (grilled calamari, pasta & fish entrees). We skipped dessert since we had cake at home. The place is a tad bit on the high end side (price wise) but justifies the ambience, service, and food quality provided."
