We have been to Thalassa several
times, and it never disappoints. But our most recent visit was remarkable beyond belief. Every item we ordered was prepared to perfection. The service was very pleasant and attentive but not at all instrusive. And they treated us to lots of items that we did not order, from appetizers through dessert. Definitely recommend it."

Always pleased with Thalassa. They
truly understand Greek hospitality and make large parties feel at home. We will be doing our rehearsal dinner there."

I've recently dined at Thalassa,
absolutely wonderful!! Great wine list, fresh food, desserts, European ambiance!"

Fresh Fish there for your
choosing. The waiters are the best."
Dined on 3/27/2014
Very knowledgeable staff/ Helped
us in selecting wine and describing the various types of fish in accordance with our likes. Recommendation right on in explaining the texture of the fish and in comparing the wines to our taste. Like the idea of take home package waiting at the front desk and not left on table."
Dined on 4/4/2014
All in all a top of the line
restaurant. The langoustines from New Zealand are succulent and sweet, the whole fish is rich and tasty They use the best tomatoes for their salad. Even the baklava is superior. Staff us solicitous and friendly, not unctuous or snooty. A delightful dining experience."

We celebrated a birthday here with
dinner on a weekday evening. It was a quiet evening and not a lot of other diners. It's a beautiful restaurant that is very dramatic inside after entering through the rather ordinary entrance outside…which I liked. The service was excellent…a bit stilted at first, but then they loosened up a bit. The food and wine was very good with some options being better than others, but that's to be expected. Their Baklava was excellent!"

Our waiter was very knowledgeable
and took great care of us, allowing us to sample wine before deciding. The cuisine was amazing and the noise level is low enough to allow for conversation (rare in NY). A bit expensive of course but great for a special occasion."
Dined on 3/28/2014
This is a very elegant restaurant.
The food was delicious and well presented. The service was superb and the ambience could not be more appropriate -- quiet enough to carry a pleasant conversation if you are part of a small or big group. This is my second time at this restaurant and I strongly recommend it."
Dined on 3/29/2014
We've eaten many times at Thalassa
and we've never been disappointed. The grilled octopus is well worth the price - delicious, tender and hefty portion. And you can never go wrong with the market fish prepared Greek style, with just lemon, olive oil, capers and light seasonings. We were too full to have dessert. Service was attentive, if a bit persistent, and accommodating. Beautiful bar - surprisingly empty after 10:30 pm. I would come back with a group for a drink."

I have eaten at Thalassa several
times and brought friends there for their first time. While the food was top rated, I must say I was extremely disappointed in the service. Our server had an "edge" about him that was condescending. We asked for the wine list and all he rather than make recommendations, all he did was point out pricing and regions. The wine list is extensive and award winning, but I certainly believe there could be a better range of good value wines. I was made to feel uncomfortable ordering the Organic wine by the glass selection as well as when I was considering ordering a vegetarian meal rather than a fish meal. I actually had to be firm in stating my preference to offset his argumentative nature."
Dined on 3/15/2014
I had the whole fish. Striped
bass. It was very simply prepared unfortunately not hot enough. The appetizers were a bit to complex for my taste. I would not reorder the stuffed calamari. The desert was amazing. The service was outstanding. Overall the experience was very good but wouldn't rush back anytime soon."

Thalassa is a great place to go to
for quiet conversation, delicious food and wonderful cocktails. They have a very good prix fix menu as well as an extensive ala' carte menu. And when you leave, you are presented with a small wax paper bag filled with delicious cookies. How good is that?"
Dined on 3/5/2014
Good food, fresh fish well
prepared, brusque but efficient service, decor a bit overdone."
Dined on 3/4/2014
Food was very good, but service
was excellent. Very nice place and great cocktails too. Definitely going back soon."
Dined on 2/26/2014
This restaurant is one of my
favorites. The food is outstanding and all dishes were perfectly prepared. Each dish has great flavors and a nice element of surprise. The service is excellent. We enjoyed all courses and even got to sample a complementary appetizer."

Fantastic food, ambiance and
service. Definitely going back."
Dined on 2/20/2014
We really enjoyed our food and our
specialty drinks. There were so many great menu choices to choose from, that we can not wait to go back. the grape leaves and the quinoa appetizer were just great"
Dined on 2/7/2014
We were completely satisfied with
our dinner at Thalassa. The fish is impeccable. Highly recommended appetizers, scallops and octopus. Dessert was devine. Excellent wines. We will definitely return."
Dined on 2/8/2014
This is a totally over-rated,
ridiculously expensive restaurant. None of the dishes were special, none of the ingredients were exceptiona. The service was over-bearing. And, magically, in an almost empty restaurant they put the three parties at adjoining tables. Stupid. I'll never return.l"
Dined on 2/5/2014
What an experience! Freshest
seafood i've ever tasted. Impeccable service, they made us feel like royalty."
Dined on 1/27/2014
This is my favorite restaurant in
Tribeca. Whether I go for a quiet dinner out or a special occasion, it's special every time--food and service are both impeccable. This time I went with a group of 7, and my guests were all very impressed!"
Dined on 1/30/2014
I chose this place because it was
close to my boyfriend's apartment and convenient for us to get to. The ambience is super nice and the staff is friendly the moment you walk in. We chose the $38 pre-fixed and were very happy that everything was delicious. The octopus as the first course was cooked to perfection. We also received complimentary salmon tartare, dessert wine and a few pieces of chocolate. It was very nice and unexpected. Our server had to be one of the best servers we had in NYC and we go out a lot. This is the first time I rated a place with 5 stars. We are definitely going back!"

Very hip scene plus delicious food
and great service."
Dined on 7/26/2013
The food was excellent. Staff was
really accommodating. The restaurant is beautiful!"
Dined on 1/8/2014
My favorite neighborhood
restaurant--wonderful food, ambience, and service!"
Dined on 1/3/2014
Not sure if the restaurant is
normally fine, but NYE was a mess. Our table was forgotten for 30 minutes, despite multiple requests to find a waiter made to various specialists - the water-bringing specialist, the bread-bringing specialist, the bus-boy specialist. The maitre-de responded very very well to that, but then: the food. The food was remarkably poor - all courses. Greek food can be wonderfully good. This wasn't"

Thalassa has fresh, delicious sea
food, served by knowledgable waitstaff in an elegant dining room. I especially like that any one of the waitstaff will help you. There is no, "let me get your waiter" mentality. The owners are there regularly, know their customers, know their product."
Dined on 12/27/2013
Very good food, good price, very
good service and very good ambience, it is ideal to celebrate something special. Good job Thalassa!!"
Dined on 12/24/2013
Excellent seafood selection,
attentive hosts, list of Greek wines. Made my father extremely happy."
Dined on 12/24/2013
Chose this restaurant because we
love fresh Greek fish and vegetables. Walked out vowing to never return. The service was abrupt and aggressive. The food was mediocre. And the wine list limited to only very expensive bottles (the $100 of French was sold out--so I had to reach to $159). This is not a place for a quick meal. If you need to be in Tribeca and must have Greek, you can subject yourself. But, with so many great Greek restaurants in NY, jump on the subway and head uptown--where the food and wine are both better and more affordable--and avoid this Trojan Horse."
Dined on 12/16/2013
A bit expensive; portions
small. Inside decor is striking; very romantic; quiet"
Dined on 11/29/2013
wonderful greek food great service
Dined on 11/23/2013
Waiter was super attentive and the
food was top notch. The seafood is exceptionally fresh and our overall dinner experience was well paced and very enjoyable. Will definitely be back soon."
Dined on 11/22/2013
Exceptional dining with a Greek
flair. Some of the portions are small plates great for tasting for two, The service, well...equally attentive and accommodating, This was at 7PM on a Saturday, when we left Thalassa there were no empty seats. Highly recommended"
Dined on 11/16/2013
This was my first time there and
every aspect of my dining experience was absolutely wonderful. I will be returning shortly,"

Go for Octopus ap, seafood with
pasta excellent and lavraki (amazing)"
Dined on 11/9/2013
I don't understand why this
restaurant wasn't completely full; perhaps Tuesday nights are slow. But every single bite of food we put in our mouths was excellent."
