  • "The food was great, the drinks were great, and the service was outstanding. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to friends and family. We all had a great time."

  • "This is my third time at Texas and all three times, the food has been great. Served with flair, attention to detail, and very, very tasty. The Salmon is wonderful and my friend also had fish. Wonderful. Last time, he had beef. Sweet Potato fries are a treat and the desserts are just the right size and very tasty. We like the atmosphere and we come to enjoy great food and great conversation that is not drowned out by noise."

  • "Warm, friendly service. The owner was very gracious. Service was a little slow, but we were okay with the leisurely pace. Food was good, but not extraordinary. No child menu, but some appetizers are suitable. The magician was great with our granddaughter."

  • "After driving past regularly for years we finally tried Texas for dinner on Friday night. We were glad to have made a reservation and got a booth, as requested. Three adults, three different entree choices; all of us were very happy with our choices. Deep fried shrimp were fantastic; filet mignon "melted in your mouth", Delmonico cooked perfectly and very good. Disappointed that our name was misspelled on the check -- since I made the reservation online, I know it was entered correctly into the system. The server was fantastic. He was fun, funny, and responsive to our needs. Shook my husband's hand as we left the restaurant. Only downside -- didn't need a visit by the house magician. We'll be back."

  • "We had been to this restaurant 3 times before and loved it. This time we were disappointed. Our waitress was very friendly but slow. Our first drink order was eventually brought to us by another waiter. We watched her having a long conversation with a guest at another table while our second drink order was sitting at the bar with the ice melting in it. Eventually, I went and got our drinks from the bartender myself. The bang bang shrimp appetizer was great, as were the ribs. The flash fried redfish was not seasoned although it was cooked well. It was tasteless . As usual Dale was there and always makes everyone feel welcomed"

  • "Overall it was a good experience. Good soup and salad to start. Steak was not cooked at all like we had asked, but whipped potatoes and green beans were very flavorful. There are not too many options in Richardson or on the east side of Plano, so we will likely be back. The crowd at the bar made me want to go hide in a closet somewhere. A lot of Tommy Bahama shirts and raspy voiced women. Next time we will ask for a table on the other side of the restaraunt. Dale walking around and introducing himself was a nice touch though."

  • "Great Texas hospitality in elegant surroundings, and wonderful beef and sea food."

  • "Dale and his team are always gracious hosts and the food is always unbeatable. My work team always makes sure to stop by when we are nearby and the Son of Texas never disappoints. This is perhaps the best overall restaurant in all of Texas."

  • "We were satisfied with our experience. There was one side item no longer on the menu, I believe the spinach if not asparagus. I'd say that was our only disappointment. Food was all delicious as always. Service was very good. We like the magician too. This was our first time visiting on a weeknight. A little busier, no musician, but still good. Oh and the fresh roses decor was absolutely the perfect touch for the occasion."

  • "Very good food. Ordered the full slab of ribs and couldn't finish it. So be aware the portion size is very large. I'll be back the next time in DFW."

  • "Went to TEXAS for a fundraiser held by Allen Americans Hockey team for our vets. The food was very good and plentiful, the server was professional and pleasant, , and wait time was minimal. Food arrived quickly and it was hot. The location is not easily accessible for me but will defintely return when we are in the area."

  • "Met my in-laws here to celebrate hubbies birthday. The only detail I would have changed is to ask for seating away from the boisterous bar area since we had to talk more loudly than we liked at times. We were all impressed with the eclectic decor and delicious tender steaks. In-laws even agreed they were the best steaks they've had out in years, and I'm sure they've been around to many posh places. The yummy tiny deserts topped of the evening and the staff didn't presume and sing happy birthday (which hubby despises) This crowd is tough to impress but this place definately fit the bill."

  • "First time visiting Texas and we loved it... The Decor is very energetic and so is the staff. Did have to ask for bread after we sat down bit when it came it was wonderful... Just a big loaf of French bread but it wax warm and you just tore off pieces... Very good.... Had the medallions with mashed potatoes and burnt corn... Could have licked my plate... Saw the dessert choices at another table... Our waiter could have asked if we were interested but I never heard him... On our way out the door the owner came over and introduced himself!? Great place and will definitely go back!!?"

  • "We took our son to this restaurant for his 23rd birthday. We all had steaks and they were cooked to perfection! I had made a reservation and we were seated promptly upon arrival. Our waitress was attentive. The only complaint I have is that the volume of the music was a little loud and our waitress had a little trouble hearing us when she took our order and we had a little trouble hearing each other at the table."

  • "This was my second trip to the restaurant to entertain business associates. Both visits were great and my guests loved the restaurant and the food. Started both evenings with drinks at the bar, then headed to the table for appetizers. Bang Bang Shrimp was the highlight, as well as the tender beef slices on toast. Dinner was superb. I had a filet (cooked perfectly) with Lyonnaise potatoes and green beans. Others at the table had filets and medallions of beef, and they loved them all. Texas is a great place for a business dinner (not too loud), drinks, or to celebrate the night out with someone special. If you're lucky, you'll probably shake hands and visit with Dale (the owner) a steakhouse legend here in the Dallas area."

  • "Our server was very sweet but not very diligent . . . among other things we ordered salads and steaks to come out at the same time...the salads came out and 15 minutes after we finished eating them she asked if we wanted desert and we had to inform her we had not even rec'd our steaks yet. She apologized and after another 15-20 minutes we did finally get our steaks, however mine was much more medium rare than medium and I didn't want to send it back because of time and for fear it may come back over cooked."

  • "The atmosphere and dining experience were great. The food was superb - the best steak we have had in a good while. The appetizer choice was very good, and our choice of a starter was excellent. The wine list was very extensive with a lot of choices. We purchased a bottle of Cabernat Sauvignon, Joel Gott, and it was an excellent choice for us. The service was good until the end. We finished our meal, and wanted to order a dessert. We waited twenty minutes or more for our server to return to the table. By the time she returned to our table, we lost our appetite for the dessert."

  • "What a gem! Let me tell you, they have it going on. Think of this as a casual style 3 Forks! Food is top notch, wine list excellent, fun atmosphere or more romantic (depends on where you sit). Fair pricing for the quality -- better food than chains, but prices about the same, only tad higher. It was a fun casual evening, but taken up just a notch on the quality! They have a very talented magician that comes around and is very entertaining! All of our food was EXCELLENT!! We ordered ribs & filet mignon - both perfect. Sides were deelish! Salad was yummy! It was by BD dinner, so we were treated with a special after dinner drink! We will definitely be back!"

  • "Thanks again for a wonderful evening. There are lots of places to get a great steak in DFW. But only one place where the staff are passionate and seem to love their work. Sam Sawyers is also great."

  • "This was to be a quiet anniversary dinner with my sister and her husband. Texas was recommended by my general manager as a great place to go. When we first arrived we were greeted and taken to our table. But we had to wait for about 10 minutes before I ask for a waiter.I don't know what the mixup was, but a manager came and apologized and we were waited on immediately. the rest of the evening was very enjoyable. We had a great dinner our waiter was great. the manager continue to check on us during our dinner and brought us a complementary dessert and Roses. I was quite surprised about the noise level for us it was quite noisy."

  • "We came for Wedding Anniversary. Too loud for that type of dinner. We told the Hostess that we would like a quiet table. We were seated downstairs. The upstairs may have been more appropriate. Won't go back for a fancy dinner, just a regular night out. Thanks."

  • "My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our visit. Crabmeat Firecrackers were very tasty, nice portion but so good I wanted more. Margarita and gin martini from the bar were both excellent. I ordered the 12oz filet mignon and my wife ordered the 8oz. When served, they appeared to be the same size. I mentioned this to our waiter, he assured us that our order was placed correctly. I'd say we got more than 8oz on my wife's filet and they were both delicious, no complaint! Lyonnaise ptatoes and burnt corn were excellent. Our server Will offered friendly, great service. Thanks to Shelby for stopping by to check on us. Whiskey pudding was very good, we enjoyed a couple shots of Licor 43 as well. Everything was highly enjoyable, and we will return!"

  • "Great food and the restaurant is beautiful. It was my first time being there and I loved it. Unfortunately, it was Valentine's Day and the staff appeared to be overwhelmed. Service was slow and terrible. The servers were very kind and apologetic and I'm sure it was due to the number of guests they were entertaining on that night. I would go again and recommend it to others."

  • "This is a great place to take out of towners to in the Plano-Richardson area. Top notch menu items that we enjoyed included Texas Redfish, Sirloin Tips, Beef Filet and the best sweet potato jalapeno soup. Apps were very good...warm fresh bread on demand...excellent bar staff...great service. A nice step up from the chain steak houses but not obnoxiously high priced like some of the other hi profile steak houses in DFW. Highly recommended !"

  • "Nice restaurant, just make sure you are prepared for a wait, even with a reservation, on the nights like Valentine's because the wait can be long."
    Dined on 2/15/2014
  • "Had reservations but waited on table, bottle of wine, and main course. Valentine's weekend crowd may have been reason for delay. Found spot at bar and noticed hostess telling all who approached (including us), you will be seated next. Not quite, Hint: Develop a good rapport with bar staff to remind check-in you have been waiting patiently. Appetizer arrived quick and was very good. Bottle of wine showed up late and would have been nice with the appetizer. Main course of filet mignon and lyonaise potatoes took a long time to arrive but was very good. Owner stopped by table to address wait time without our initiating the topic. We appreciated the personal touch of owner and quality of food. Will try again and hope for quicker service."

  • "Although it was a busy Valentine's weekend, our experience was good, but not up to the standards set in past visits. The Quail was overdone, the wait for it made the filet sit too long in a holding pattern, so while perfectly cooked, it was dry (how do you get dry mid-rare?). And, we waited 30 minutes to be seated past our reservation time in the standing room only entrance area (the bar was jammed). Past experiences were great at Texas, including one large group gathering. This time, good, but certainly not great."

  • "Steak Salad came with no steak...then server brought microwaved steak 'bits'...Quail had no seasoned taste other than gamey...server was over worked...First Vodka Tonic was ALL ice...second one was great...lovely ambiance...type of place you want to work...might try again..."

  • "Excellent food! Fine service! Nice place to talk to your date and be heard (in dining room). The bar area is for a more lively crowd."

  • "9 PM reservation for a booth turned into a 9:30 seating at a table....NOT GOOD. Waiter shows up 5 minutes after seating with no wine list so we are 10 minutes in before getting a chance to order anything...NOT GOOD. Wine we ordered is out of stock so have to pick something else...NOT GOOD. Salads show up 15 minutes after order and 5 minutes before the entrees show up....MORE NOT GOOD. Complimentary bread finally shows up after the entrees do....MORE NOT GOOD. Limited to 2 dessert choices because the most popular one is already out of stock....the final NOT GOOD. Considering the reputation of the owner, we were very disappointed in the overall service and likely won't return to Texas again."

  • "We were late for our reservation on Valentine's Day, yet were seated within minutes of arriving. Steak was good, and so were the vegetables. The shrimp were excellent. Our meal was not from the regular menu, but rather a special occasion fare. Price was very good, especially after comparing to other restaurants. Wished we lived closer so we could return often, but it will have to be a special visit spot for us."
