  • "We had an office lunch outing at Texas Spice and it was a hit! The self-parking was easy to find and it was validated. They reserved a smaller room for our group of 12. Everyone enjoyed the lunch choices, even the vegetarians. The service was good, and our waiter was quite friendly. A very nice group lunch option, easily accessible to downtown."

Good burger, not great, but good. Cooked to order medium came out.....medium! Expected a little more flavor in the beef and bacon. Fries were very good. "

  • "On would expect a Mother's Day Brunch at $58 per person, plus taxes and 20% service to be a feast. At Texas Spice the feast consisted of a very mediocre breakfast buffet (similar to those found in most hotels for $15-$18), a section with a single type of fish, one type of lamb, and a waffle-pancake cook. The two were disjointed both physically and conceptually, with no unity in the brunch concept. A far away dessert table provided very limited choices to be placed onto 4-inch saucers. An $8 glass of sangria was small and tasteless. The service was moderately friendly but certainly not memorable. In summary, for a total of $80 per person it was a very bad experience, never to be repeated."

  • "ON a Friday night, this place is in the middle of a great scene at the Omni. The buffet option was offered and endorsed by our waitress and we enjoyed the simple yet very tasty and well prepared selection. We had a nice bottle of wine and the service was friendly and professional. Sit in the back for a private dinner, or sit by the window to watch all the front door activity at the Omni. Relaxed and spacious with good food. Check out the menu online. Great bar scene for that special happy hour."

  • "We had previously visited this restaurant 1-2 years ago and enjoyed it. We decided to go back because I was craving some good Deviled Eggs. They changed the recipe and presentation for the better! I would recommend them... but that's about all I would recommend. We also started with the Sweet Potato Lollipops which were over seasoned so bad you couldn't taste the sweet potato. For entrees, we had the Housemade Jalapeno Sausage Flatbread which wasn't a flatbread, it was a thick crusted whole pizza, and the sausage had no taste of jalapeno. We also had the Chili Peanut Scallops which were OK but the dish wasn't very cohesive. The most disappointing part was the restaurant now features a large buffet which most of the clientele headed towards."

  • "My hesitation was that it was inside the hotel. Once inside you never think about it. Great ambience with a terrific wait staff. The food is very good and there is a upscale bar where you can have a cocktail first. We were there Thursday night and they had live entertainment that was very good. I highly recommend!"

  • "Just lately, we've been focusing on the growing neighborhood scene in the Cedars, and happened on the Omni Hotel's Texas Spice restaurant as a convenient brunch option. Very glad we did. Though large, it is still woody and warm, and the Fiesta Ware and Le Creuset casseroles added to the homey, casual feel. Food is locally sourced, with beautiful and plentiful fresh, raw and gluten free options, as well as sturdy and delicious sausages and bacon for the meat lovers. The brunch buffet was exceptional, and when the lunch entrees came out with an excellent red posole and outstanding chicken and waffles. Usually, our view of the Omni is limited to passing by or the view from the roof of the NYLO, but we're glad we came, and we'll be back."

  • "Texas Spice is a great downtown location for group activities during the holidays. The restaurant was busy enough to be festive but not so jam packed as to be rushed through lunch. Each of us chose the buffet. We couldn't find anything more interesting or better value on the menu. I didn't hear one "complaint" or critical comment on any of the food items."

  • "Had the Sunday buffet. It was very sparse. The fish was over cooked. The chicken under cooked and poorly seasoned. The macaroni and cheese was like Velvetta shells and dry. The bread was extremely dry. Potatoes were tasteless. I expected more from an Omni restaurant. The waiters and staff were very friendly and helpful but, service seemed disorganized. The buffet seemed like something you would see at camp not in a restaurant."

  • "There's humongous food selection for breakfast buffet, including cook to order omelette and cook to order fried eggs. The fruits are fresh, crunchy bacon, and delicious pastry. Make sure you eat light for dinner if you will have the breakfast buffet at OMNI, you need a lot of "tummy space". The coffee and orange juice are delicious too and unlimited. For $17.00, it's all worth it. The restaurant also validate garage parking if you give the ticket to the server, which normally cost $12.00. Very clean place and very friendly servers. I take pride in taking my family and friends here, because I know, they will love and enjoy it. Date of visit 08/10/13 and 08/13/13"

  • "Have been here a couple times now, but never to experience the brunch buffet. Must say we left impressed for what all we had to choose from for 17 dollars. They even had gluten free options which was great for my fiancé and everything was marked accordingly which was great. Regular items were also very good, stars were the French toast casserole, the blueberry sausage, and the potatoes. I didn't even get to the waffle and omelette station though everyone else did and said the omelette's were very good. A couple first timers who came with us were very impressed. Not crowded and actually more so empty but don't think much was going on downtown this weekend. Also they will validate ur parking in the garage, just found that out which is nice."

We were inside and had a nice view outside, next to the window. The outside looked very enticing as well. Only downside was the dessert, which was a huge piece of chocolate cake, which seemed to have been made from a package, with too sweet frosting, rather than being homemade."

  • "We wanted to check out the Omni so we made reservations at Texas Spice. I ordered the chicken fried steak. A friend got the pork chop which was wild boar and said it was juicy and full of flavor. Since this is a convention hotel I wanted to make sure they were doing true Texas food properly. It was one of the best CFS I have had. Meat was very tender and seasoned and the coating was cripsy and not too thick. The spicy cream gravy is the bomb! The mashed potatos and green beans were true Southern style. All the wait staff was beyond friendly and knowledgable about the sources of the various food. They brought us a lovely crab appetizer on the house. I think they have done a great job of representing Texas food and hospitality."

  • "Overall it was a pleasant experience. It was our first time trying Texas spice. Our server was very helpful and knowledgable of the menu. The atmosphere was lively but not noisy which was a good thing. Our appetizer was the shrimp and crab sausage which was the highlight of our food selection. It was very delicious we wish there had been more. My girlfriend ordered the chicken fried steak as an entree. It was a bit expensive for a chicken fried steak, but was a pretty decent portion. Also as far as taste it did deliver with much help from the gravy. I chose the wild venison as my entree. It was the most expensive dish on the menu, but did not seem as it should have been. Venison (good), portion (small), tamales (not good)"

The meal included items that we had never tried before and would not have normally ordered such as beef tongue, salmon roe, and shrimp in banana puree. It also included more traditional dishes like short ribs along with several desserts. We decided to be adventurous and give it a try. It was really good. The food was great and provided us with a new dining experience. We also appreciated the complimentary rose and glass of champagne."

  • "We were fortunate enough to get a last minute reservation on Valentine's day. The staff was very friendly and prompt, and food was fantastic. We did have a hiccup in that it took quite some time for us to get our food however David, one of the managers, was all over it before we even had a chance to say anything. He personally delivered our food to the table and spent a good deal of time making it right. Even at the best restaurants things happen, and to me the important piece is how they react. We couldn't have been happier with our experience at Texas Spice and we'll be back. It has a great view of downtown Dallas and it was very pleasant to stroll through the beautiful Omni Hotel."

  • "I took my grandma and mother to Texas Spice when they wanted to come into town to celebrate my 21st birthday. It was classy enough for my grandma, and still swanky enough for me. Our waitress, Rita was phenomenal. She knew everything there was to know about the menu, and she made it clear that she loved being there and was so happy to serve us. The chef came out with a slice of chocolate cherry cheesecake for my birthday, and the bartender accompanied him with a birthday "shot" of my own. Everybody was happy, knowledgable, and made us all feel very comfortable."
