A word from Terzo
Terzo (which means third in Italian) offers a daily changing menu of about 15 small plates and 5 large plates. Its “pan-Mediterranean” fare is under the care of Executive Chef Mark Gordon. The wine list offers over 80 options of European and Californian wines chosen to pair with the food.

A high table sits between the bar and dining room and offers communal style seating for up to 10 diners. Additional walk-in seating is available on 3 high tops in the front window. Espresso leather banquets line the dining room. A more intimate back dining room can be booked for private parties of up to 18.

Inspired by the wine bars and cafes of Sicily, Rome, Seville & Madrid, wines are stored along the walls of the dining room. An original fireplace was refurbished and is lit when the weather is chilly out. Stylish lighting creates a chic atmosphere.

we were 5 with a Saturday night reservation for 4. Some small places can be put out with an increase, but the hostess took it in stride and was gracious. We ordered 6 small plates and every plate was delicious, but the standouts were the burrata, grilled squid, Our waiter was attentive and charming, his recommendations were excellent.

Disappointed with my choice, rillettes, but polenta with mushrooms and chicken dish were excellent. Friends have said how loud the restaurant is so wouldn't go back but we asked music to be turned down in the back room & that worked.

We have been coming here for years, but this latest visit was a letdown. $11 for a plate of approximately 10 Brussel sprouts, which were overcooked and soggy. Other disappointments included, Gnocchi drenched in too much pesto sauce, overcooked, dry pork loin and a chicken entree consisting of a leg/thigh meant for sharing, but very difficult to do so. Not sure we will be back.

I continue to love this place! Outstanding small plates, excellent wine choices and outstanding service. Just remember to take your time. And this is one place, I would say, go ahead an order desert because they are good (nothing wrong with sharing either)! My only complaint is the noise level. On a previous visit, the noise was manageable, but on this visit it was so loud, people were screaming at each other just to be heard (HINT: you don't need music blasting when the noise level is so loud).

Really liked everything about this place. Been trying to go since it opened, but it was either booked or I forgot about it. I am certainly glad I finally went. The atmosphere was perfect for a casual/nice place. It was lively but not impossibly jumping. The other customers were nice to be around and the staff, particularly our waitress, was wonderful. Food was excellent plus fun and easy to share. Pork meatballs divine. We neede to change our reservation to a half hour later and were accommodated. We asked for a quiet table because we had an elderly gentleman with us, and we were given a marvelous table that allowed us to converse the whole time yet feel part of the larger crowd. Thanks to all who made the evening just right.

We waited about 15 minutes for someone to even acknowledge us. No one even walked by who we could grab their attention. When the waiter finally did stop by all he said was, "what would you like to eat?" - not "hello, how are you this evening, can I take your drink order?" We explained to him that we would like to order a drink first and he seemed annoyed by this. My friend asked about a $15 glass of champagne, and all he said was, "it's good." The food was so mediocre. The mussels tasted fishy, the chicken was dry, the beets were ok, and the heirloom tomatoes were very basic so they were good. Our waiter never stopped back to see how our food was or if we needed another drink. My friend had to waive down someone to order another glass.

We had a great dinner and experience at Terzo. We ordered six small plates so we could try many things. The food is fresh, well-prepared, and seasonal. The fried egg on brushetta was outstanding, as were the beet salad, the meatballs, the gnocchi, and the mozzarella salad. Our last dish was the chicken spiedini (sp?) which was good but since it was our last one, we were a little full and it wasn't as outstanding. I had ice cream for dessert and it was perfect. I highly recommend anyone to try Terzo. We will go back!

I found Terzo while I was walking to a nearby tourist attraction during my first weekend in San Francisco. I took my sister there the next weekend on her visit from Tampa and we both enjoyed our meal. We ended up sticking with several small plates and weren't disappointed. We had the salmon rillettes, the kale ravioli and the meatballs. The meatballs were the highlight of the evening and both of our favorite. For dessert, she got the chocolate pot of cream and I got the ginger cake. She definitely won the dessert course as my ginger cake was ok, but a little on the dry side. All in all, the restaurant is really fun and the decor and ambiance are awesome for a night on the town.

A party of 6 in corner room had a terrific experience. The small plates were outstanding with great range and creativity--fig bruschetta, kale ravioli, beets with pickled onions. Large plates: Morrocan chicken really is worth the hype! But so was the salmon over blend of fresh corn. Pasta bolognese had the right amount of earthy/gamey-ness... but sauce was just a touch too thick. And the the Pot d'Creme just blew everyone at the table away. Some surprises there that i won't spoil. We'll be back!!

We went to Terzo on a recommendation. The restaurant is decorated nicely and has a good feel and vibe. They have a great wine menu as well as a Local Belgium beer which is fantastic. I ordered the Moroccan chicken which came with basmati rice. While the food tasted great, the quantity of rice was paltry. Rice is cheap. I left the restaurant somewhat disappointed due to the fact I was still a bit hungry. Maybe I should have ordered the salmon which did have a good portion of food.

The food wast great, the ambience lovely and I could even hear my dining partner, but the service went from one extreme to another. We were first seated in a section with a waiter who basically threw the wine list at us and shouted "let me know if you want wine", so I requested to be moved. We were, to table at the other end of the resturant with another server. Lo and behold the previous waiter then picked up the table next to us and proceeded to fawn over the dinners and give me dirty looks all evening. Though the rest of the experience was good, given the number of resturants in SF, not sure I will return.

I was planning to have a romantic dinner with my boyfriend and I booked a table for 8pm. I was really disappointed because the restaurant made us wait till 8.30 for a table and the problem is that they didn't even offer us drinks or a place to seat while we were waiting. This issue cut the romantic environment that we were looking for.

Instead of ordering entrees, my husband and I ordered 5 small plates and a dessert, which was enough for us. The calamari and meatballs were the biggest hit, while the wilted escarole salad with a poached egg seemed the least flavorful. Nice ambiance, especially if you get there early. Would definitely go back to try more small plates.
