The food was excellent as was the service. The only thing I would like to see is an expanded cocktail list. Also, I highly recommend reservations. This is a popular place that gets full and has long wait times.5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMMuseum Quality! The perfect place for a respite while taking in the treasures at the Art Institute. It's such a relief to have a break from those horrible restaurants in most museums! A beautiful, airy space and lovely view. Paul Kahan's menu isn't vast, but it's very tasty. We had trouble deciding which items to order. Finally decided to share the charcuterie platter and the duck malfaldine. Both were delicious! Next time, I'll have the lamb burger - it looked wonderful. You can't go wrong at this place, especially if you get a table outside on a beautiful day. The view of Millenium Park is worth the price of admission!!5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMElegant DinnerOur group enjoyed a lovely pre-ballet meal here. Antipasti platter and flatbread were good starters. Those that ordered the trout were very pleased. Crispy chicken was good too although would have been nice if it could have been prepared healthier without the skin. We had attentive service and made it to the ballet on time!5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMThe view of Chicago whileThe view of Chicago while eating exquisite food and sipping wine is spectacular. The appetizers and the lamb burgers were tasty. The trout salad had a delicate flavor with plenty of greens. We enjoyed every moment under the outdoor filtered light area.5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat view - our waiter wasGreat view - our waiter was fantastic, helpful, friendly which saved the hostess and seating staff who were stuffy, snobbish - not what I expected from the Art Institute - typically a fun, welcoming place.4/28/2013 12:00:00 AMVery pleasant respite from museumThe food and service were excellent at Terzo Piano. We especially enjoyed the lamb burger which was very flavorful and the French fries top notch. Our server was attentive and informative. The décor is austere and modern. Tables are well spaced and the noise level is only moderate.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had lunch for three. TheWe had lunch for three. The food was very good, specially loved the lamb burger. Prepared just right. The sweet potato fries with it were also enjoyable. The serving was large enough to share, and the lamb burger came split for two. Very helpful and neat. The grilled beet salad was also enjoyable. The papardelle was a bit too much undercooked and tasted a bit on the dry, chewy side. Great double expresso to close the meal.
Reservations is a must, otherwise the wait is too long. It is easy to make on opentable.com4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMInteresting, creative, deliciousInteresting, creative, delicious food in a beautiful setting. I really enjoyed the arugula with smoked trout salad.4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMBeautifully prepare food,Beautifully prepare food, attentive service and wonderful views of Grant Park on a sunny (finally!) day made for a pleasurable lunch with friends. The squash ginger soup was a gorgeous golden-orange and delicious. Wished it was a little more generous serving - the amount served looked even more paltry in such a large white bowl. The smoked steel-head trout was nicely smokey and the crispy edges provided an enjoyable crispy textural contrast to the flakey flesh. The kale provided a strong enough taste to balance the goat cheese. The beautifully poached egg on top of the string french fries was a nice touch tho the string french fries were difficult to eat gracefully. My friends lamb burger looked great - juicy and nicely charred4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMTerzo Piano has become a restaurantTerzo Piano has become a restaurant staple for our family. The food is consistently inventive, fresh and delicious. The service is always professional, approachable and knowledgeable about the menu and wine list. Because of these assets we can take or recommend to any out of town guest, or local, that they stop by for lunch (before a trip to the museum) or just a great meal experience.
As a side note... the new napkin color palette is really fun and adds to the already enjoyable atmosphere.4/23/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways fantastic changingAlways fantastic changing menu using fresh local and organic food/ wine. Lovely place, nice view, small but good wine list, fun.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMI was very happy to get toI was very happy to get to sit by the window with my friend - we came from the Quad-Cities and it was a special occasion for us. We rode Amtrak in from Princeton. We had the soup that was beautifully garnished, the chicken entree and one of the "mountain salads" that were beautiful. The artisan bread with olive oil was also very good.
It was peace of mind for me to be able to make a reservation online ahead of time and know where we would eat since we had limited time between eating/seeing exhibits.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMA friend and I had an excellentA friend and I had an excellent lunch before a Chicago Symphony concert. The food was very good, and our waitress (can't bring myself to write 'waitperson') was congenial and efficient. The room is large, has a high ceiling, and yet was not noisy. I would definitely return; perhaps this summer I will meet friends for lunch in the patio.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful overall once again!Wonderful overall once again! I look forward to returning (again)3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMI don't eat meat and the twoI don't eat meat and the two vegetarian dishes were unavailable. I ordered the trout which came out bacon flavored with an egg on top of my crispy fries, so I was not really happy with my entree. The bacon flavor on the trout was very strong. The kitchen also left the brown bad-tasting area of the trout on the filet, so I had to remove it myself. The waiter was extremely nice and efficient.3/26/2013 12:00:00 AMVisit wouldn't be complete ...My wife, 8 year old daughter and I love to come here for lunch while visiting the museum. The food, service, and surroundings are wonderful. The kid's pizza is made with as much care and quality ingrediates as the rest of the menu. An Art Institue visit wouldn't be complete without a Terzo lunch.3/25/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food here is unique, healthy,The food here is unique, healthy, and portion sizes are perfect. I plan to return.3/21/2013 12:00:00 AMabsolutely delicious! We were surprised by how great the food was. We had the mussels, crispy chicken and smoked trout and it was all amazingly fabulous. I think the new chef has it all clicking in the kitchen. I remember the food being just ok last time we were there which was a year ago or so. This time it was absolutely delicious and inventive. We will definitely go back soon.3/21/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was our third time atThis was our third time at Terzo Piano, we attended for dinner. Our experience was outstanding.3/20/2013 12:00:00 AMLunch at The Art InstituteI had the lamb burger and found it to be quite good, although a little spicy-hot with the jalapeno peppers in it. While the menu said it had mint, the mint flavor was over-powered by the spices. The fries were crispy and hot and there was more than enough there. Overall, good food, but a little pricy.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing!Fantastic! Fabulous food served in an excellent manner atop the gorgeous Art Institute in Chicago. The view is fabulous, and the restaurant is light and airy. The quiet atmosphere allows for conversation. All around an amazing experience.3/14/2013 12:00:00 AMI have probably said thisI have probably said this before: I love this place. L-O-V-E. With exclamation marks. This place should definitrly be on the Eater 38 list of best Chicago restaurants. The food is uniformly excellent, the space is lovely (if you, like me, like "art museum sterile," and the view is magnificent (especially because of, and in contrast to, the art museum sterile interior. I would eat here much more often if I could. Even the bread they serve with meals, and the accompanying olive oil, is outstanding. All this, and the prices are quite reasonable (even more so with your AIC membership card).3/12/2013 12:00:00 AMA must Do! Atmosphere, foodA must Do! Atmosphere, food and service were second to none.
