  • Parking Details: We have public parking on the street, 2 hour parking limit during the daytime hours and unlimited after 6:00pm. Also behind the restaurant their is free parking lot of about 260 spaces. Ellicott City also has 6 other parking lots off of Main Street.

The Tersiguel family have been serving their unique version of French food for over 40 years. The menu at Tersiguel's is a combination of authentic French-style cooking and rustic country fare reminiscent of cuisine found in Tersiguel's original home of Brittany, France. Tersiguel's Cuisine is reflective of the seasons, with a garden that produces lettuces, herbs, vegetables, fruits and edible flowers. When the Garden is not producing Chef Michel Tersiguel will personally go and hand pick all fruit and vegetables at the whole sale market in Jessup, Maryland. Tersiguel's is quintessential French Country "from the farm to your plate" cooking. Chef Tersiguel describes his food as "French soul food". The Tersiguel family has operated one of the regions best restaurants for over 40 years and continues this tradition with annual ratings of "Best French Restaurant" from the Zagat and Baltimore Magazine.   • "Tersiguel's is a traditional style French restaurant that promises more than it delivers. Tuxedoed wait staff suggests a higher level of service attentiveness than is actually given. Menu descriptions suggest classic preparations that are not really executed well. Too many dishes were overcooked, some slightly burnt, or oversauced, with the main ingredient drowning and indistinguishable. It was okay, but the prices alone imply that you should get more than just okay."

  • "Tersiguel's is my favorite restaurant. The food is out of this world, with many unique and well-paired before and after dinner options on the menu. The restaurant is family owned, and it really shows. The owner was checking on everyone and showed me the "right" way to mix my anise liquor aperitif with ice and water. Our waiter Erin was perfect. The environment is formal but the entire staff is so warm and genuine that a guest naturally enjoys the evening to the fullest without any stiffness. The dessert special was soufflé with chocolate sauce: amazing! One can spend a lot or a moderate amount, as the aperitifs , appetizers, and desserts can be are wonderful but optional."

  • "The ambience is great, service was excellent. There is a parking lot in the back which is helpful for an area that is often crowded. The food however is mediocre. The cost is astronomical, way too expensive for the food that is not that incredible. The garlic was overpowering on our appetizer and dinner. I will say that the scallops were cooked perfectly."

  • "I don't mind paying for expensive food if the quality of the food justifies it. The food at Tersiguel's is ok but not special. Couple that with very high prices, and my recommendation is not positive. Alternatively, if you are in Ellicott City and like crab cakes, those at Cacao Lane are some of the best and at good prices. In terms of French restaurants in the area, to my taste,Petit Louis in Roland Park or the new one in Columbia are better alternatives."

  • "Escargot, terrines, etcetera.... All excellent here! We went to Sunday Brunch and while always fairly consistent, the menu really hasn't changed in years. We really enjoy it, however we've never dined on the first level of the restaurant, always upstairs even though we requested it. This trip we dined alone in an upstairs dining room and when leaving, noticed they had several open tables available on the main level. Not a huge issue, but always seems odd. In 10 yrs of going there, we've been had the odd table.... Oh well. Go, enjoy and good luck!"

  • "Enjoyed a great night. My DH as usual had the chef's fish special, a North Carolina tuna that made him clean his plate. My boeuf bourguignon hit the spot and my friend had the lamb. The country pate was flavorful with its spicy mustard. My only complaint was the escargots seemed a little overdone - like the butter was a little burnt. Crepes suzette finished the evening with a light sweet citrus tang."

It is quiet and romantic which is a plus, and the wait staff are very attentive, but I would not visit again. My filet wasn't the best and the food wasn't up to the premium they charge. For less ambiance and better food consider Flemings steak house in the inner harbor."

  • "Tersiguel's is a family establishment. It is fine French cuisine at its best. We have been steady special occasion guests for 7 years running. We were initially referred to Tersiquel's from a local Ellicott City B&B. On this occasion we had the filet, viande du marche, orange souflet, salad michel, and the socca nicoise. My wife had a Chardonnay and a Merlot. Excellence was the basic service and their service far exceeded the basics."

  • "We love Tersiguel's, have been eating there for decades, but this was disappointing. The room was quiet; service was friendly, efficient. But the food: The evening's special appetizer, a mixed bag of seafood: fried calamari, light and tasty; shrimp and garlic, nice; mussels, perfect; and something the waitress described as "like crab dip" -- it wasn't. It didn't taste like crab and looked unappealing; tasteless. Rockfish entrees were nice, perfectly cooked, with a lovely risotto. The lamb was just okay -- and 1 chop and a few tiny slices for $37?? Desserts were great: gorgeous napoleon and delicious butternut ice cream. But an uneven experience for a pretty hefty price tag. We'll go back, of course, and hope for better things."

  • "I went as part of a party of 4 to Tersiguels last Saturday night. Our reservation was for 7pm and the place was hopping! There is no lobby for diners to wait in for their tables so there's a huge squash in the entrance hall, it all seemed to be chaotic. The restaurant is in a converted old house and we ate upstairs in what must've been a bedroom. The tables were squashed in and every time a waiter passed through the room my chair was bumped. It got pretty annoying. The food was terrific, the service was of the 'have fun y'all' variety. The food wasn't good enough for me to want to return and be bumped and jostled again."

  • "A return trip for us, and maybe even better than first time! Portion size is perfect - enough to enjoy but also to allow for multiple courses. Two highlights for food: potato leek soup with lentils - outstanding! And the special - a monkfish cooked just right with an awesome shrimp bisque sauce and a pastry wrapped mashed potato. Great service, nice subdued lighting in a 2nd floor room (but a cold draft was a minor nuisance). Made for a great belated Valentine dinner!"

  • "I have been going to this restaurant for years. While the food is solid it is not terribly unique. I was shocked at our bill this visit. The prices for entrees have been creeping up over the years. At this point, I can get a more unique and enjoyable meal at other restaurants for half the price. I am sad that the costs have escalated so much."

The wait staff is friendly but more than that, know without having to stop and stutter the perfect wine pairing with whatever you're having. The sauces are light and enhance the dish - never covering up the natural flavors of the meat or fish. The vegetables are fresh and not overdone. For the quality of the food and service be prepared to pay a bit more than you will at other places in Ellicott City but Tersiguel's is well worth the price!"

  • "We had not been there for a few years -- but was always one of our favorites. Started with the special seafood sampler -- mussels were very good, fried calamari was good, garlic shrimp was OK, crab dip not so good. The presentation was awkward. The special veal chops were simply poor quality meat. The beef bourguignon was OK and filling but bland -- just your basic pot roast -- not what we expected from a high quality French restaurant. The waiter did his best to make things right and ended up taking the veal off the check. We've had some memorable meals here -- but are in no hurry to return."

  • "ALL dishes from apps to desserts were wonderful and beautifully executed (the rest of the group are meat & seafood fans) but I have to comment that this was one of the BEST vegetarian entrees I have had out in a long time!!! What a pleasant surprise. Beyond that, the setting was beautiful and the service was INCREDIBLE I don't remember our servers name but he was exceptional. The perfect amount of attentiveness without hovering, humor and professionalism. Overall, just a wonderful evening and we will return!"

  • "We had heard from friends about this great French bistro in Ellicott City. We went hoping for something similar to Central Michel Richard or Matisse. The vegetables were overcooked and the kitchen apparently has not been introduced to a salt shaker. The wine list was expensive but yet the wine was served in mediocre glasses. The lamb 3 ways was tasty but the accompanying potatoes were bland. The beef bourguignonne was tender, yet underwhelming due to a lack of seasoning. The bread was nicely chewy but was served refrigerator cold. The wait staff was friendly and attentive, in spite of the fact they seemed to have to work in cramped quarters in the hallway, while dodging customers coming and going, an accident waiting to happen. Not worth it"

  • "My girlfriend and I went to Tersiguel's last year and decided to go again this year for Restaurant week. When we arrived the staff were extremely friendly and personable. I wasn't too sure about the menu selection as I haven't had a great deal of French food in the past. The waiter provided excellent guidance and ensured that he was always around in case we needed anything. We were very impressed with the maître d' as well, he provided spectacular service. The best part of the experience was the food. It was amazing. I could not get over how good everything tasted. Right down to the side items (I don't believe I have ever tasted broccoli that good). My compliments to the chef. I will definitely be visiting Tersiguel's again. Thank You!"

  • "We enjoyed an excellent dinner with a superb bottle of wine. The service was friendly, gracious, informative, and helpful. Our entree selections, scallops and veal, were satisfying portions,but in addition we shared two vegetables served family style along with a generous serving of house-baked bread. After finishing our entrees, we were pleasantly full and decided to pass on dessert and just savor the remaining wine while watching other diners being served."

  • "Tersiguel's remains my favorite restaurant in the historic section of Ellicott City. A local treasure, it should be worth a special trip from Baltimore; and visitors to Ellicott City from miles around should certainly make this their must-visit restaurant. Everything is top-notch, with a nice inn-like atmosphere. My favorite dishes include the Socca Nicoise (a chick-pea crepe, which is actually quite a bit more refined than the one I had in Nice itself) and a sweetbreads appetizer; I always have trouble deciding between those two, although to be frank I have had better sweetbreads elsewhere (but nowhere near here). Parchment-wrapped rockfish was particularly good, and the desserts are wonderful, including a fruit-filled Napoleon."

The food was pretty good, but we both felt at the prices , there was not great value. The service was fair. I would think twice before going back."
