  • Far too pricey for kid's portions!
    OpenTable Diner Since 2012
    Dined on 9/28/2014
We recently dinned at the Summerhill location. One thing that bothered me was re our daughter's "children's portion" meal. They offer 2 child portion options not listed on the menu: penne or gnocchi with butter/parm or tomato sauce. Our 9-year old daughter opted for the gnocchi with butter/parm which ended up costing $16! This is WAY too expensive for a simple kids portioned meal coming with nothing additionally, i.e. no drink, no side or dessert ! For 95 cents more, she could have had "Gnocchi alla Simi" coming with "tomato sauce, fresh ricotta, basil, parmigiano" or had a pizza for $1.50 less!. Being married into an Italian family, it seems that Terroni has lost some of its Italian roots to respecting children and the family as a whole.

This place is obnoxiously accommodating to careless parents of loud, unattended children. On a Friday at 8 kids are running everywhere, upand down stairs, without a parent in site. Not fun for anyone but the kids. Go somewhere else. And why won't this site allow a user to rate sound level anything louder than moderate? This place is loud.

Firstly, the service was not in line with the upscale atmosphere. Our waitress was wearing a sweater around her waste as though she was going for a picnic. She was not rude, but was not polite either. She tried telling me that there are no chickens on the menu, because there are no chickens in southern Italy. The food.....was overpriced, small portioned and of less quality than Delissio pizza that I can buy for 3 dollars at No Frills. I am not exaggerating when I say, I would rather eat frozen pizza, truly!!!!! The dough was so thin that it was almost non existent, the toppings were also almost non existence. The only thing that was plentiful was the cheese. They should not call it Pizza, they should call it Cheese with toppings.

Went for an early Sunday evening dinner for 4. The place was pretty full and a bit loud early on (around 6pm). We had to raise our voices a bit to speak with the people at our table. But things quieted down part way through the evening and it wasn't a huge issue overall. Service was quick, timely, and friendly. We all ordered pizzas and were happy with our orders. Would recommend and go back again.

Arrived a bit early. Plenty of open seats. Was stuck in an interior location. No view. Everyone else outside or along widows. Clearly using this booking service was a disadvantage. Food was upper middle level Italian. My pizza didn't live up to expectation. The description sure sounded great. The reality was less so. But still very good crust and base ingredients. Just that a pizza focussed on mushroom things should remind one of some fungi. Salad was average at best. No creativity. Partner's beet salad was excellent. All portions created waste. By the glass wine selection was excellent and the list for full bottles was enticing. Price at upper middle ($95 lunch for 2) more palatable with a view.

We showed up for our reservation and the downstairs hostess checked us in and told us to go upstairs where the second hostess didn't know we had a reso. Then asked inside or patio, we said patio. She told us to go upstairs and "see what was avaialble" even though she used the walkie to communicate with the upstairs hostess. We got up to the patio and the 3rd hostess told us nothing was available and to go downstairs. So we went back down and finally was sat. Just a bit fruatrating that they had the tools to be very efficient but did not use them correctly.

I made a reservation for 7pm 2 members off my party arrived at 7, we were 10 min late. Upon arrival I went to the hostess stand on the main floor, gave my name they told me to go to the 2nd floor. Went to the 2nd floor she told me go to the patio. Arriving at the patio they didn't know what I was talking about. All six were RUDE. Especially a guy wearing a blue plade shirt. 3 hostess stands??? I finally just searched the restaurant for my party. During our entire dinner a large party with 4 kids screamed during the entire meal. Parents said nothing nor did the staff. Very disappointed as I brought 4 people that never had a Terroni experience. I will never ever be back.

We frequent Terroni often as the food quality is always consistent and great. Unfortunately the service is really hit or miss. Whatever process they established for the food, they should also implement for their service training. In this case, our main waitress was "missing". Thank goodness for another friendly server who stepped in and helped her out. The second waitress was so helpful and pleasant and saved the meal. And to be honest, the tables where our original server was responsible for was not even busy. In any case, team work saved her and she owes a lot to the second server who jumped in.

A restaurant made for families who don't mind yelling at each other over the din of too loud music - music at 6:30 in the evening that sounds like a Richmond STreet night club at 1 am. So, if you are an adult who wants to actually talk to your dinner companions - good luck. Also, it rained so patio was compromised leading to a jammed and stuffy room filled with screaming children and a throbbing bass line. The pasta was cold….The "we will not cut your pizza rule" dismayed the people at the table next to us as they attempted to do it themselves and half the pizza went flying into the other laps. And Open Table had broken down so their reservations were a mess.

I love Terroni, always have and always will. LOVE the food and the vibe. BUT I had a special birthday event planned for six people on a Saturday evening, booked weeks in advance, had a special table selected. When I arrived on a lovely evening, asked if the patio on the roof might be available for my group [arrived 30 minutes prior to the rest, just in case] and was told absolutely, no problem. Went to the roof and they said the front desk had no idea of what they were saying, there was no room but they would help us and we would not have to wait long. The story changed in 15 minutes. No chance we could get a table, and the kicker, the table I had specifically reserved was now gone. Hey Terroni... Don't get cocky, you are not THAT good.

The food was great although we were ignored for most part by our hostes. They seemed to be more interested in their conversation and not us! We had to keep asking for water and I guess this kind of annoyed our hostes. It was a warm day and no ice was brought with water, we had to ask again. In general I found the hostesses are young and not very friendly.

Went for dinner on a Saturday night. The service that we received was terrible and the restaurant was not even that busy. We waited almost 15 minutes to get drinks, when our waiter came over with room temperature "soda water" in a hot glass. Wasn't allowed to modify my pizza with 2 very simple changes, of which I said I would be more than happy to pay for. Didn't come to ask how our food was during the meal or to check up on us unless we specifically called him over. On the bright side, the food was fantastic

I went to Terroni for the first time on Thursday. Food and rooftop patio were great. The service was not as good. When I first got there, I walked in the front door which I guess is a bar area. Both bartender just looked at me and didn't acknowledge me. I stood there for a while to wait to be seat ( didn't know the hostess was on the other side) then the bartender rudely snapped "you can come in and not just stand there". I was very taken back and embarrassed because all the customers at the bar just looked at me. I felt uncomfortable and it gave me a bad first impression of the restaurant. The food was good. The rooftop patio was very cool and fun! Great crowd and drinks.

I sat in the back room for the first time and asked my out of town guests be brought to my table. They were told to go up inside when they arrived and walked around for 10 mins trying to find me. A pint ordered was not delivered before pizza arrived. We had to remind person delivering pizza to bring pint. Server was super nice but service not consistent with my experiences at Terroni. 647 235 1461

We had a "quiet"table in a distant corner, but this place is hopping and hence very noisy indeed Our food choices were all good though my caprese salad had no basil Pizzas were excellent grilled calimari very nicely presented, and the cured meat board was very good indeed. Might go back to an outdoor brunch and hope the noise level is more customer friendly. Hard to have any conversation, so good for solo diners!
