They ignored our reservation and seated others ahead of us for 15 minutes. We only got seated when I complained. Since our reservation was for 5:00 pm and they opened at 5:00 pm, I found this particularly unforgivable. Superb fare, as always, but the worst service I've ever experienced there. Not sure I'll ever go back.

This place is the real deal for foodies and regular folk alike. I can't recommend it highly enough. Confident, relaxed but efficient service (my favorite kind). Fabulous food. I had the watermelon and heirloom tomato gazpacho and the fried artichoke tapas plate and could have gone home satisfied before the entree even arrived. The portions overall were larger than many fine dining places. Consider splitting if you are prone to finding yourself with too much food. I almost forgot the best part - all the selections are marked with vegan and gluten free indicators. This is not a vegan or health food restaurant but its so helpful for those of us with food sensitivities. I'll definitely be back.

We had a great time and a delicious dinner at Terrapin. The blue cheese and fig appetizer could have used a bit more blue cheese, but the short ribs were perfectly tender and our waiter selected the perfect wine to pair with it.

My husband and I wanted to celebrate our anniversary with a nice dinner. I told him to pick a place, expecting something fancy-schmancy. I was surprised when he chose Terrapin, since we go there at least once each season for dinner. His reason was: we always love the food and the service is terrific. The night we went the place was almost full, with several large groups which were taking a long time celebrating between courses. Our server, Peter, and the other servers did their best, but there was some difficulty getting the food out to both the large tables and the smaller ones at the same time. Several other members of the wait staff cheerfully pitched in, even the hostess, not unusual at Terrapin - excellent friendly service.

The Restaurant was beautiful.. the waitress was super nice.. the food was "fine". Drinks are always expensive... no mater where you go.. they gave us a little comp. bread which was fine.. the service was fast. and again the food was "fine". We spent $110 for dinner.. it took maybe an hour.. and while it was nice.. it didn't really wow me. I knew the place was pricey and that's cool, i was just hoping it came thru with some really amazing food. Again.. it was fine, but nothing you could not get at a more middle of the road restaurant.

The best thing about this restaurant is that it is virtually the only decent place in the area that serves late in the evening, convenient for patrons of nearby music festival. I had some of the tapas appetizers, which were terrific as well as reasonably priced. This was less true of the main course, a plate of gnocchi alla caprese. The gnocchi were OK, but I was disappointed that canned sun-dried rather than fresh tomatoes (which grow lushly at nearby farms) were used. Also the dish, at over twenty dollars, seemed over-priced. But the selection of wines was goods. I was especially pleased by the availability of half-bottles of Brunello di Montalcino, which I ordered an enjoyed. The decor is pleasant and there is no loud music.

Even with the great reviews that led us to Terrapin for dinner, our evening there exceeded expectations. Each dish was fabulous. We were a group of four and each had all three courses and were hard pressed to pick favorite dishes. Every appetizer was amazing and I really enjoyed my duck Quesadilla. The stuffed figs with salad were great too. The duck entrée was sensational and my tiramisu dessert is still bringing a smile to my face a few days later. Our server gave us great advice as we struggled with making hard choices for our menu selections along with wonderful suggestions for wine and beer pairings.

We like the wide variety of choices offered, especially gluten-free food. The menu is clearly marked as to vegan, gluten-free, etc. which makes dining easy for a large group with assorted dietary needs. Our waiter was very helpful and engaging. will definitely go back. The corn chowder was a big hit, as well as the asian risotto.

Had a wonderful dinner on Saturday evening. The only thing that could have been improved...it took a little too long for our server to ask if wanted coffee and desert. We must have waited 20 or so minutes; not a big issue though. The only other minor thing was that I had asked to have the rest of my dinner wrapped and it never came back to the table. The staff are always well informed about the food items and of course the food is wonderful. I always enjoy being there...a great place.

My wife and I celebrated our 49th at Terrapin. Couldn't ask for anything better. Our appetizers (hers Calamari were delicate and best we ever had; my gazpacho was terrific). Entrees were superb: my wife had the wild salmon which was exquisite according to her and my vegetarian dish was perfect. We did share a dessert and it too was outstanding. We have been at Terrapin for some of our anniversaries and for other occasions as well as just for dinner. Always the best. Thank you.

We have been following Terrapin's excellent reputation for years. The building is stunning, the service very attentive. But the food was underwhelming, the preparation, ingredients, and plating presentation lacked careful attention. The arugula salad greens were decaying; wild salmon was overcooked, dry; grilled asparagus overcooked, over-salted. Ambiance: floral arrangements were as wilted as the salad. The women's restroom needs updating, a good scrubbing. We would still suggest people try the outdoor/pub menu, and to consider that we visited on an off-night or off-week.

We made a same day reservation at Terrapin when our travels took us to Rhinebeck late in the day, and although we ate late and therefore lightly, whatever we had was terrific! The tapas oyster shooters and crispy artichokes were excellent, as was the mezuna salad and the fig/brie/shallot quesadilla. And the winner was the bread basket that had gougeres and bread as it should be served--crispy crust and chewy inside! We will return to sample more from the menu!

We enjoyed our anniversary dinner at Terrapin. We started out by sharing the duck quesadilla. The mango/avocado salsa paired with it rounded out the dish nicely. Our meals were the striped bass and the double cut pork chop. That was the biggest chop I have seen served in a restaurant. My husband was well pleased with that choice and when I tasted it, I totally understood. The meat was moist and tender and had the best flavor!!! My bass had a crispy skin that made the dish memorable. This was our first visit to Terrapin, but not our last.

We've been to Terrapin on several occasions and have never been disappointed. The food is delicious and cooked to perfection. I had the filet mignon which was served with 2 different sauces and my husband had the hangar steak, also served with 2 different sauces. My friend had the double cut pork chop which could have easily fed 2 people. It was at least 3 inches high, no lie!The salads and appetizers were also delicious. Our waiter was great. His recommendations were spot on, including what wine to order with each dish. Nice restaurant for a romantic evening or someplace to impress friends. Highly recommend.

Terrapin is our favorite out-of-town restaurant. Eating there always makes me wish that I lived in the Hudson Valley and could be a regular. What especially appeals to me is the innovative menu. What amazes me is that, in spite of some daring moves on the part of the chef, he always hits the bulls eye. The restaurant is in an old church, which lends an air of dignity, but the crowd is lively so, on balance, it is a fun place and just right for special occasions

Dining here outdoors, any evening, is romantic and sensory. We paid our second visit in 3 nights, had a light bite & sat under umbrellas, sparkling lights & lush green trees. The service is consistently quick & bright even though we did not get full dinners. We'll be back! My only regret is that the 200 points I would have received for booking tonight were not awarded because I was locked out of my account only 2 nights right after having eaten here!! I was trying to check my account & could not remember my password and was locked out! We ate again tonight at Terrapin anyway & discovered that their computer had been down; an OT reservation would have been impossible!! I'd appreciate account access & 200 pts.

The food here was wonderful. There were six of us all ordering different entrees and we all loved our meals! The server was nice but got one order wrong, forgot to fill water glass & took forever to bring drink replacements. He also gave us our check & then took it back to correct the incorrect item he had placed. For the dollar difference on an almost $300 check and considering I had to wait for my meal he really should have taken the meal off completely. That & the poor service left a bad taste in my mouth after a wonderful meal.

Appetizers, main course, dessert - all terrific. The food, as always, was great. What made this experience outstanding was our server. My wife is gluten free, and once we made our server aware of this, his attention to this detail made her night. Without asking, gluten free bread was brought to the table. He made dinner suggestions and suggested a terrific gluten free desert - house made gluten free chocolate chip cookie sandwich with ice cream. The cookies were great - if we didn't know they were gluten free we would not have suspected! We will definitely be back soon!
