My third time at TerraCotta and I'm still excited that this neighborhood bistro is doing well. Tried the fried chicken this time. What a treat! Substituted the grits for waffle fries. OK. So it wasn't the healthiest meal. But I could not resist. Nice to step away for a childhood treat every once in awhile.

My husband and I were visiting Santa Fe and went to TerraCotta Wine Bistro by reviews that we read on Trip Adviser. We had a delightful evening. The service was wonderful and the food and wine were excellent! I had the planked salmon. It was delicious! My husband was quite pleased with his crab cakes. We would highly recommend this restaurant.

A lovely place nestled along Johnson street by the O'Keeffe Museum. The rose garden out front and wonderfully tended flowers give a preview of the interior and quality of foods. The owner is delightful and very pleasant! Tables are in a few rooms which offers more peaceful dining -- and there Is outdoor seating in the front and in the back of the old house. Mussels were wonderful and a delightful artichoke mix made for a hearty meal. All the service and ambiance of the TerraCotta are inviting and we will definitely return. signed from -- a Santa Fe local

My husband and I ventured downtown on a Sunday night before heading to a movie. We were pleasantly surprised with the value, level of service and attention to detail. The wine list is notable for its range of options by the glass and bottle. The staff working that evening, from the young man who greeted us at the door, to the attentive, friendly bartender who served us did an outstanding job. We will be back.

My wife and I went to TerraCotta for my birthday dinner. It was the right choice. We found the prices, food and service perfect for our private celebration without the pretentiousness found in other Santa Fe locations. The large selection of half-bottles of good wines was welcome, indeed. The main courses gave us at least two selections of meat, fish or salads. The choices continued into the expanded dessert menu. This will become our personal, well-hidden gem.

We loved the appetizer selection so much, especially the cheese and meat platter that we nearly made a meal out of them. Along with a hearty salad and soup and we were delighted and stuffed. The dessert menu was divine and the carrot cake was so delish that we could have taken a second one home to enjoy later.

We had to be done by 5:45 to make our 6 pm concert. Terra Cotta serves from lunch through closing which means we could easily make our commitment. We sat in the lovely, brightly decorated courtyard patio with umbrellas to keep sun away. We were greeted with friendly efficiency which carried over to our service throughout the meal. The menu provides a large selection of different offerings so we chose light fare of salad and 1/2 sandwich. Both were well presented and very tasty, including a side of home made waffle fries. We split a chocolate silk pie for desert that was well presented, but a little sticky for my taste. Prices are affordable and good value overall. We will definitely return to try other menu items.

The wine list is comprehensive, the outdoor patio is nothing short of charming, and the waitstaff was knowledgeable and friendly. We ordered a bruschetta plate with four different kinds, and of the four, only one had any flavour (this is not an exaggeration), and even that one was overloaded with goat cheese, overpowering the other elements of the dish. The bloody mary flank steak salad was served cold, cooked medium-well (even though it was requested at medium), and the bloody mary dressing was unremarkable. The mezze plate, a Mediterranean sampler, was served with about 1/3 of the necessary pita triangles needed to enjoy the dish, causing us to wait ten minutes or more for the staff to bring some more pita. Good concepts, poor execution.

We are locals and have patronized Terra Cotta Bistro since they opened, always taking out-of-town house guests. Now, we are going to rethink it! On our last few visits, the food has been inconsistent--fried chicken, chicken salad and salmon salad were good; bbq average; specials average; and the bruschetta is always burned and cold when it comes to the table! We were embarrassed to be taking guests on our last visit, plus our guests' red wine had turned bad! Yikes! The waiter promptly replaced it. However, the damage was done--it will be awhile before we return to Terra Cotta Bistro.

My attention was caught by the Monte Cristo on the online menu. It seemed an unusual dinner entree, so I emailed the restaurant. I was told that normally sandwiches aren't available after 5 PM, but that Chef Catherine would make an exception for us. Very glad she did. There are plenty of other interesting-sounding items on the menu, too. We were a little concerned about parking this close to the Santa Fe plaza, but were pleasantly surprised that there were some slots reserved for TCWB just across the street.

I loved their wine layout (by color & price), and they have very good wine flight options to get to try different wines than you might normally. The food was very very good, but just not quite at a 5 star level. Example - the cheese board was awesome EXCEPT the very pedestrian crackers it was served with. Most foodie places will have a variety of crackers/breads that come with such an item. We also did the onion rings (AWESOME), caprese flatbread (OK), southern fried chicken (VERY GOOD), fish & sweet potatoe fries (VERY GOOD), and tart with ice cream (VERY GOOD). Service was very good and all the staff was very very friendly.

Cozy restaurant that was originally a traditional Santa Fe style home down the street from the Georgia O'Keeffe museum. Several really good menu options. The food was excellent and very nicely presented. The owner and the chef came to our table to welcome & visit with us--really personable. I'm not a wine connoisseur so the waiter helped us make a selection we liked a lot. We travel to Santa Fe every July and will definitely return again next year. I would definitely recommend reservations for either the patio or indoor seating.

Our waiter was great when it came to wine and food recommendations. The crab cakes he recommended were outstanding, although the waffle fries that accompanied them seemed underdone and oddly unfinished. The salmon salad was very good as well. However, when we got to dessert, he recommended the ricotta cheesecake to my husband. The cheesecake itself was okay, but the "coulis" or sauce or whatever it was on top was awful. It tasted like salad dressing. We let our waiter know, and he took it back to the kitchen... and returned with the same dessert, but with no sauce, so just plain cheesecake. Blech. And no comping the bad dessert, either. Sorry guys - you need to fix the food problems, and if there is a problem, you gotta comp the dish.

The space and wine list were good, but the rest of the experience was rather strange, possibly because it was an off time on Sunday It felt like we were being challenged to transcend our limited conventional expectations about things like taking our order and bringing the check. Random people would come and go. I had the North Carolina pulled pork; the sauce was good, but the pork was chunks, not "pulled." My friend ordered the tenderloin steak medium rare;. it did seem like either, but was good enough to finish. The experience wasn't bad, but I have more confidence returning to an establishment where the folks are a little more engaged in, you know, running a restaurant, in the sense that we usually think about that kind of thing.

  • Price Point Value...

The food rating takes into account the price point, which was spot on. We tried the chicken and the fish and chips. Roasted chicken was moist and the fish and chips exactly as expected. The chicken was a prix fix meal which was 30 dollars. The wedge blue cheese salad it came with was very crisp and fresh. I tried the oysters and sadly not familiar with the coating that was on them. I had never seen that before and it was just off putting for my taste. I will applaud them taking back and removing from the ticket. On a different note, I suggest asking the staff for your wine by the glass selection if you go that route, they can suggest some excellent values, especially during the happy hour! I would recommend based on price point value.

I love bringing people to TerraCotta Wine Bistro to see the delight on their faces when they see the charming decor and again when they taste the amazing food. Last Thursday I met a friend for lunch. I had the crab cakes with waffle fries. The crab cakes were very good for the Southwest. The waffle fries were the best I had ever had. My friend had the asparagus ravioli and I could have finished off her dish. Service is always a big deal to me and the wait staff are great. Parking is a bit intimidating. There is a parking garage on San Francisco and Sandoval. Catty-corner from the garage is a sidewalk that goes along side the Eldorado Hotel that takes you to Johnson St. Turn left and the restaurant will be on the left side of the street.
