  • Worst service ever AND food was bad
    MManek
    Dined on 7/4/2014
Literally, the worst service I've ever had at a restaurant...let alone one that Red Rock touts as one of their two "fine dining" choices. Moreover, it was bad enough to incite me to leave my very first online review-ever. My server was awful (again, to be clear, literally THE WORST service I've had in my life), and the manager clearly didn't care at all that there were several dissatisfied tables in the restaurant. I have no idea how this place is still open because the food is subpar, at best. You're better off going to the food court at Red Rock or Vitner Grill (superb!), down the street.

I wouldn't have the grilled artichokes again as an appetizer. They were too charred for my taste. And the cheese served with them just didn't go with them; neither by flavor nor in staying on a fork together. If the chef intends me to blend the flavors on my plate, I want them to accompany each other on my eating utensil! The eggplant Parmesan was tasty. The appetizer size is adequate for a light meal with the hors d'oeuvres, another appetizer AND dessert!! I always go with the daily or the chef's special. Either one gives me a great example of the skills and current focus of the kitchen.

Terra Rossa offers excellent daily specials and reliable everyday menu options. The sword fish on the daily menu is a great choice, meaty and served with an interesting salsa. Pasta dishes never disappoint. Service is attentive and friendly. I would say that the ambience is excellent except if you are seated at the far end of the room, which comes off as rather drab. Overall a great choice.

  • Special Request-Denied
    VegasDiner
    Dined on 6/12/2014
I made a reservation for 6pm and simply put in the special requests section "It is my friend Dave's birthday. Please do something special for him." Then, we get to the restaurant and it was almost empty. I think this is great, my special request won't get lost in any chaos. I then spend $200 on a dinner without any reference to my request. If you don't do anything special for birthdays, etc.--then don't have a special requests section when making a reservation. I've never had a fine dining restaurant snub a similar request. So I will not be returning to Terra Rossa. For the record, the food and atmosphere were good, service was decent but when I give you a golden opportunity to "wow" me and you choose not to--I'll go somewhere that will.

Our waitress was nowhere to be found 90% of the time. Her tables were scattered throughout the restaurant. Our empty plates were sitting in front of us for 5-10 min each course. The waitress came by a few times but never cleared then. It's like she waited for the busser to do it. She was very quiet and shy and we could barely hear her when she talked. When our soups came, nobody offed cheese or pepper. We has to ask for the cheese plate and bread. I ordered spaghetti, and I really did not like the bolognese sauce. Come on, you can't call yourself best Italian restaurant in town if the spaghetti sucks!! We will definitely not be going back!!!

This was my first visit to Terra Rossa and it was a very special dinner indeed. From the hostess to the waiters. Everyone was attentive and super nice. The food was extremely yummy. It is too bad the patio will be closed for remodeling since it is a beautiful view. Looking forward to coming back and trying the Lasangna. And the Other wine choices. What A treat!

This is my first visit to Terra Rossa in Red Rock; I've enjoyed the same restaurant at Green Valley many times. The disapppoinment at this location is definitely the ambiance; does not hold a candle to the warmth of the GV location. The food, however, was wonderful - we had the mixed seafood grill (HUGE and high quality) and gnocchi, which were some of the best I've tasted. Server was very kind and friendly too. Very nice experience!

We've gone to Terra Rossa many times over the years. The prices are too high for the quality. For a nice restaurant, why do they let the waiters wear blue jeans? Anyway, I'm just not impressed with it any longer and probably won't go back.

Food was fantastic. Had Veal Limone and it was tender and very tasty. Just the right amount of lemon sauce. Restaurant is very noisy if you are seated near the kitchen. Good wine list. Moved to another table as no service for at least 5 minutes of seating. After that service was excellent.

The server did not follow instructions with our checkout. I had two gift certificates. One was for $100.00. The other I did not know the amount. Also I had a $30.00 casino voucher. All I wanted her to check the amounts on the gift cards. However, she charged our total bill on our gift cards and ignored our $30.00 voucher. We asked for the manager and he also very argumentative. He finally credited us with the $30.00 voucher, however he withdrew the wrong amount from the gift certificates. We overpaid.

Took 5 min to find hostess who wa gabbing at end of bar. Good waiter service. Food extremely high price but not to my taste. Sunset Station's Pasta Cucina half the price the twice as good. Pasta Mia's osso bucco much better. Prices comparable to Piero's without the ambiance.

Wonderful food. Spectacular wine list--gotta try that $7,000 bottle of wine someday!! Seriously, food very good and the appetizer plate you get--cheese, artichoke hearts, peppers, olives, and crispy fried zucchini thins is very tasty. Our pasta dishes were hearty and quite good. Wine list is substantial--mnay choices at prices WAY below what I mentioned above.

Between modern Italian and old school tratoria lies Terra Rosa. Located at Red Rocks Resort, this gem of a restaurant feels old as Vegas and yet fresh and vibrant. The menu includes first rate takes on old favorites like Spaghetti Carbonara and Linguini with Clams as well as more modern dishes. The daily specials are often more cutting edge but always good. The open kitchen gives the restaurant a friendly feel without invading the privacy of the tables or bringing too much noise to the dining room. When making reservations be sure to request either in the back or by the kitchen if you don't want to be in the windows to the casino. Since it's first floor there's no commanding view of the casino floor, just slot machines and foot traffic.
