A word from Terra Bistro
Borrowing the Latin word for Earth in its name, Terra Bistro has been transforming whole foods into gourmet innovations for more than 17 years. Today, Terra Bistro is still considered a leader in the gourmet green movement. Our menus are 100% all – natural and our recipes utilize 85% to 100% certified organic ingredients. Over the years Terra Bistro has also lead the charge to embrace earth - friendly and humane values in operating our business. Our chef diligently seeks ingredients from sustainable sources and humane conditions. All seafood on our menu is Seafood Watch approved and/or a member of the CleanFish Alliance. Terra Bistro employs an in-house state-of-the art water purification and bottling system, which each year prevents thousands of bottles from entering our local landfill. We are also partnered with the Humane Society of the United States and the ProtectSeals campaign. World-renowned and a local favorite, Terra Bistro is a must for the green-conscious “foodie”. • "this place is very delicious but if you ask ten people you will get ten different answers. You are on vacation. try it out and I am sure you won't be disappointed."

  • "The menu is creative. Not my cup of tea. Best for folks who enjoy organic foods."

  • "We were very disappointed in the service and the noise level. It was so noisy we could not have a conversation."

  • "The variety on the menu was limited. We have been going to Terra Bistro for years and have always loved it. Due to the limited menu selection that they have, we will likely not return. The food was also not as good as it has been in the past. And it was so loud, we couldn't hear ourselves think."

  • "The duck confit is one of the best in the country. The service and way this restaurant handles customers is all about pleasing you and providing an excellent dining experience. You won't be disappointed."

  • "We eat here at least once a year, it is pricey but well worth a special occasion. It is without a doubt one of the finest restaurants in Vail, everything is done so well. Hard to get reservations during high season but if you are two or three, sit at the bar and eat and drink, the bartenders are awesome."

  • "We really enjoyed our dinner at Terra Bistro. Our server was friendly, attentive and very knowledgeable about the menu. Good cocktails and interesting local beers on tap. The sweet potato ravioli was excellent, and the quinoa appetizer was also tasty and refreshingly different. For main courses the cobia and trout were great. I look forward to going back next time I'm in Vail."

  • "Terra Bistro was very accommodating to my growing party from the very beginning. Everyone loved their meal and the service. It was a very special evening."

  • "This is a great menu. They partner with "local" farmers and ranchers for their ingredients and claim to be 90% organic...whatever that means. Either way, we enjoyed dinning there and highly reccomend you give it a try."

  • "Terra Bistro is one of our favorite restaurants in Vail. Their menu provides you with great choices that are delicious! The service was perfect, as usual, and we completely enjoyed our evening there. We love to pop in and eat at the bar in addition to more formal dining. Their breakfasts are awesome..."

  • "Complete, unapologetic neglect by an offensively uncharismatic server - but food and atmosphere were phenomenal! Will be back and hope for a different server!"

  • "we return to Terra Bistro each trip to Vail. We have had consistently great meals. The menu is not extensive but ingredients are local and fresh. The wine list includes a number of half bottles that work well for a couple. Compared to some other places in Vail we always feel welcome and appreciated"

  • "We had such high hopes when we heard they had a new chef. To start we had a great bread basket with lentil hummus which was unique & very good. We had arugula salad with apples & nuts & felt it was a little too sweet. The ravioli appetizer was very good & the scallops appetizer was amazing. The problem was the entrees were just ok. The duck confit was very good although sweet. The steak was cooked to perfection & delicious. The trout was also good but served room temperature. The boar Ragu pappardelle was inedible and tasted of cinnamon. The service was excellent. Overall, we would not return. When you go out to dinner you want all parties to enjoy the food and it was too inconsistent."

  • "Its my favorite. The portions are big, the food is good and the price is fair. The service is also excellent."

  • "This classy spot boasts a small menu with plentiful options, all of which are fantastic. The drinks are crafted to perfection and presentation is superb. Prices are not unreasonable given the time and expertise put into each dish. If you are looking for something unique and memorable, go to this restaurant. The chocolate molten cake is A MUST!"

  • "Among our 4 diners, the quinoa salad was huge and very delicious. The arugula and apple salad was excellent as well. Three diners had the 14 oz strip steak and all said it was prepared to perfection. I ordered the pork chop with kumquat sauce and it was amazing. Portions are very large and none of us had room for dessert. Terra Bistro has been excellent every time we've dined there for the past several years and once again we found ourselves talking about how delicious our meals were for the next couple of days. The food is always beautifully presented and the servers are top notch."

  • "we have eaten here every year when visiting vail. this year was a disappointment overall. duck confit and procuitto crostini were very good. other items sampled (5) lacked flavor. doubt we will return."

  • "I've been going to Vail for years and Terra Bistro has always been a stop. We've always loved our meals here. Unfortunately this year was a huge disappointment. Our server was indifferent and largely absent from our dining experience. Compared to years past portions were skimpy for the price and the quality was missing. Two persons in our group received meals that were barely warm and had to be sent back to be warned up - this was done with much huff and puff from our waiter who I literally had to flag down accomplish. When the meals were returned there was no offer off an apology but rather a rude condemnation against the interruption that we apparently caused for our waiter. Not sure Terra Bistro will continue to be on our list ."

  • "We enjoyed our appetizers and main course. The steak and pork chop were cooked to order. Salads, fresh and delicious. All food was identified as locally sourced (or as close as possible to local). Wine list was extensive but would have liked some more choices in a less expensive price range. Would go back for a special occasion."

  • "We have been coming to vail on and off over the last 15 years and we always make sure terra bistro is on our list of restaurants to visit. The food is always excellent. There is something for everyone . The service I again is always consistent and friendly. We like a little quiter, so we ask for the back room which is just charming. You won't be disappointed though anywhere in the restaurant"

  • "The restaurant came highly recommended, and the reviews were spot on. Everything was beautifully presented, and tasted better than it looked. The scallop appetizer touched almost every taste bud with a different taste sensation, just wonderful"

  • "We dined here on recommendation. The menu looked organic and vegetarian friendly. To start with, the waiter came to our table four different times to get our actual order. He literally had no recollection of an order we placed only minutes earlier. We asked about scotch and he left to go get the list, then forgot and returned without it. For dinner, my husband ordered the Chef's special at the discretion of the chef, which was essentially a plate with mounds of steamed unseasoned vegetables. When my husband looked disappointed, the waiter said he could use a starch and brought mashed potatoes. Then my veggie pasta had meat in it and the waiter just said "that's weird" and left. He didn't address our disappointment until he was confronted."

  • "We have been to Terra Bisro many times in the years we have been coming to Vail. The food is always delicious and the service personable. The emphasis here is on organic foods, and although that is not my primary concern, it is a special feature of this restaurant."

  • "We were a large group- so reservations were more difficult- Terra Bistro was our favorite- not to stuffy, great menu, wide range of choices for meat eaters, non meat eaters, gluten free etc. plus very friendly service."

  • "For many years now we have celebrated a week of skiing with the last dinner at Terrra Biistro. The staff, the management and the atmosphere are all first class. The food and wine list are always the best. We have always enjoyed all of the presentations which are varied but delicious. The best is the homemade ice cream. We have never been disappointed, a fitting end to a great place to ski."

  • "We dined President's Day weekend and unfortunately, some customers brought toddlers. We were unhappy with our table next to the toddlers and the manager went our of his way to move us to a quieter table. The meal was absolutely delicious and our waiter was very attentive. Our best meal in Vail this trip!"

  • "Terra Bistro pays attention to every detail of the dining experience, exhibiting great flair and taste. An extraordinarily satisfying dining experience, starting with suberbly selected ingredients."

  • "Ate here this past Wednesday night with a group of 7 business colleagues. We were seated promptly and service was excellent (attentive without being obtrusive and great advice on appetizer and entree selections). Both the meal and the wine were excellent. Did not hear anything but positive reviews from each of those who attended. The physical space itself, which is fine but isn't memorable, is about the only thing I would not give top ratings, but this is a fairly minor quibble. Certainly not inexpensive, but you can say that about 95% of the restaurants in Vail Village."

  • "I am Celiac. I love Terra Bistro. For the last 5 years, I have believed them when they say "Our chef knows and if we say gluten free, it is." I was told by my waitress last night that anything that goes in the fryer isn't because the fryer is shared with gluten items. I was shocked because the flat bread and Brussel sprouts were labeled as not containing gluten. This is the first server to ask if I am Celiac when I said I cannot have any gluten at all touch my food. She said many people who do t tolerate gluten eat them and don't have a problem. I told her that many people may not have any immediately. Visible symptoms, but the damage has been done. So gluten-intolerant a, stay away from anything that goes in the fryer, and ask questions."

  • "We try to dine at Terra Bistro at least once every time we stay in Vail. Our dinner was wonderful, the service very attentive. The only reason I am not giving 5 stars for ambiance is the way the tables for two are stuck together so closely that it can become uncomfortable, as waiters tend to know the back of the chair of the person facing into the room, and you are almost on top of the next table. We had to ask to move to a table that was less crowded in with others. It seems to be a trend in many modern restaurants that the tables for two are just too close together. I don't necessarily want to hear the entire conversation at neighboring tables from all the details on their latest health problems to issue with their children...."

  • "My wife and I had an absolutely outstanding dinner at Terra Bistro - just a block away from covered bridge, so not in the heart of vail village proper, we found the food incredibly well prepared and tasty including the quino salad, the portabello vegie entree, and the crispy duck leg. We highly recommend the restaurant."

  • "We haven't been to Vail or Terra Bistro in about 5 years and both were better than ever! The food was outstanding and the preparations were different but not weird, really fresh and inventive. Maybe our best meal of the week."
