Very good service from valet, to
bar to restaurant. All prices ramped up from Santa Fe, so everything has a bit of a sticker shock to it. This is fine if the food was extraordinary, but it was not. Sometimes when dining for Restaurant week, some places either seemed overwhelmed, or they just don't try as hard as when you are paying the regular menu prices. This experience seemed to reflect the latter, and the wines were very overpriced. We chose to 'upgrade' on the first course and dessert. Not sure it was worth it. The pastry chef seems to have the best training in the kitchen."

Granted, Restaurant Week may not
be the best time to visit a venue, The so-called prix fixe menu had so many supplemental charges, it would have been difficult to have dinner for $40. Apart from that, there were some clear hits (amazing cheese biscuits, excellent crab cakes) and some real disappointments. The tempura avocado served with the crab cakes brought the appetizer down by being leaden and tasteless (why do that to an avocado?) The foie gras with scallops entree was a complete misstep, the foie gras overpowered the scallops, and the duck ravioli, while delicious, seemed to belong in another entree along with the foie gras and port-infused cherries, perhaps. The chocolate souffle was excellent, with chili in the creme anglaise."

My wife and I had an incredible
experience at terra! I can't recommend it more! It was one of the greatest meals I've had sense I was in culinary school in N.Y. The flavor combinations were unusual and inspired, consistently new and fresh. All the small details weren't overlooked. Made me jealous every thing was flawless."
Dined on 2/25/2014
The reason recipes have a name
(eg, fried chicken, creme brulee, etc.) is so that diners know what to expect. What I got for dessert most certainly was not creme brulee, and it wasn't good. Very disappointing dining experience."

Drinks in the stylish bar which
offered comfortable, conversation friendly seating. Then on to a well-positioned table to enjoy a wonderful fixed price meal which offered numerous choices for each course. Each item the four of us ordered was artfully presented, well-prepared and delicious. The meal also included wine and the choices were excellent. The service was attentive but not hovering in both the bar and dining room. A wonderful overall experience."

Our dinner was OK, at best. We
expected better from a Four Seasons. With so many fine restaurants in Santa Fe, we see no reason to return to Terra anytime soon. How do you make a tasteless shortrib?"
Dined on 2/15/2014
Delicious high end eatery. The
soup won best in Santa Fe. Scallops were cooked perfectly with a light sauce so as. Not to mask the taste. Schug Pinot noir was great. I'd like to have a better bread. A nice fano or sage would have been nice but not too big a concern. Substituted a glass of scotch for the desert. Service was excellent and ambience is as good as it gets"

My husband and I dined at Terra to
celebrate my birthday. It was our first time dining there and it was a wonderful dining experience. The food was great...the staff was not only extremely attentive but the chef came out personally and talked with us. He also sent out a fabulous desert for each my husband and myself!! I will definitely go back again and again!!"

Great opportunity to get off the
beaten path for a great meal and even better views."
Dined on 1/19/2014
We expected this restaurant to be
over the top excellent. It was not. There are many places in Santa Fe that deliver a higher quality dining experience at a lower price. Everything at Terra was very good and we enjoyed our dinner but we can not say it met our expectations for a Four Seasons location and for the reputation that it has. Would we return? Probably not, particularly since we would have to drive past Geronimo, Restaurant Martin, El Piatto, Luminaria and others to get there."

We have just had a simply
wonderful evening in Chef Andrew Cooper's kitchen! It was a truly memorable menu, fantastic wine pairings throughout, generous conversation and much personal caring attention."
Dined on 10/15/2013
Once again, Terra provided an
enjoyable evening for our table of four. Food quality was very good but just a couple service/atmospher comments. We ordered our wine when the food order was placed but it didn't appear until the first course was served, almost 15 minutes later. We were looking forward to enjoying it while we waited for the food to come. Our waiter apologized however that did not remedy the problem. There were maybe 10 tables occupied so it was not particularly busy. Also, the music was the same as we have heard for months as well...perhaps some fresh music would be positive change? Otherwise, service with a smile and an enjoyable evening in general."

Great place for a scenic lunch,
tasty crab chili relleno and BLT. Friendly service."

Wonderful meal, great location,
lovely views...I love Terra."
Dined on 8/28/2013
A very professional restaurant
with top Chef talent, fresh local food and dining ambiance. not a single awkward monet - every dish was perfect and special."
Dined on 8/24/2013
The food was great, and the
service attentive. We greatly enjoyed the additional appetizer from the chef. The only complaint I had was the background music. Given that they recognized they were serving to a pre-opera crowd, was hard core country-western music the appropriate background?"
Dined on 8/24/2013
We had a group of eight for my
wife's birthday celebration. The wait staff was excellent, and unobtrusive. The food was outstanding. A first for me was having a bison steak. I will order it again! The views are magnificent. Watching the sun go down over the high desert and the not so distant mountain ranges is a memorable experience. This dinner was not inexpensive. But it was well worth what we spent. Try it! You will return often. Terra is one of Santa Fe's very best!"
Dined on 8/21/2013
We went for brunch. The outside
dining is just beautiful. But the food is average, as is the service. Go for the view or to visit the resort but you will get better food at many places in Santa Fe."
Dined on 6/16/2013
Terra is the hotel restaurant at
Encantado, now run by the Four Seasons; Encantado is the fanciest resort in town and the restaurant strives to be more up market than most Santa Fe establishments. Decor is resort style, with great views (which can include bouts of lightening.) Cuisine is contemporary American, with Southwestern touches, featuring local organic ingredients. Loved the panzella salad with the sous vide egg and the pasta with mussels. The specialty sundae, with churros, caramel sauce and the dulche de leche ice cream, was fabulous. Service was good, although it can be problematic when the restaurant is busy. Wine list is interesting, if expensive. Located close to the opera, so it's a good choice for pre-opera dining."

We enjoyed the romain salad and
the summer salmon preparation...cooked beautifully and well balanced. The desserts have improved as well. Service with a smile and great views."
Dined on 8/10/2013
Great atmosphere, beautiful
surroundings, service and food outstanding, and a beautiful sunset on top of it all!"
Dined on 8/10/2013
We have experienced Terra
Restaurant and Bar at Encantado under old management and always had great time. First experience there under Four Seasons Management . You now have Four Seasons prices with less than expected quality and service. Will likely not return."
Dined on 8/4/2013
The coddled salmon is excellent
this summer at Terra as is the tomato composition salad. Our guest enjoyed the Caesar salad but noted it was just a bit over dressed. The real surprise was the panna cotta...one of the better desserts we have had this year at Terra, excellent texture and balanced flavors. The room remains uninspired design wise and gets loud when full, it was much better with table cloths but alas... Service is friendly and genuine. Oh, chef brought out a tomato sorbet palette cleanser...excellent, thanks!~"

Good and many waitstaff. After two
dinners there recently I am reluctant to return with guests due to slow kitchen. Time between courses was 20 and in another case 30 minutes. We had to wolf down the excellent food with no time for coffee in a one and a half hour window before the opera. A big problem for discerning guests!"

Was our anniversary and the servie
and food was just as we had hoped to celebrate the occasion."
Dined on 7/28/2013
Great place for lunch, quiet nice
patio and friendly service. The club and portobello sandwiches were very good as was the crab chile relleno, a nice regional addition to the menu. Friendly staff ... great for a business meeting or mellow get-a-way...enjoy!"
Dined on 7/11/2013
Excellent food, great
presentation. Was a little pricey. $18 for a tomato salad, albeit, a delicious tomato salad."
Dined on 7/10/2013
The food was amazing. Totally
worth the price. But our waitress wasn't as attentive to our table. She came 15 minutes after we were seated. The food came fast but after we were done eating, we literally waited 30 minutes for her to come by again so we could get the check.. I was disappointed with the service as she didn't even come by to ask during our meal if everything was OK. We asked for more bread which was never delivered. If the service was better, I would go there again, but the food was delicious."
Dined on 6/29/2013
When Auberge owned this resort,
the food and service were always outstanding, last year when the Four Seasons purchased the property there were a few rough spots in food presentation and preparation. This last menu had an outstanding selection of choices, incredible presentation and impeccable service. We all had different dishes and everything was outstanding. Thanks for a great evening with another incredible view!"

I can't rave enough about the
food. It was totally delicious and the chef made modifications on my salmon entree according due to dietary restrictions. My sister had the duck which she finished the very next day for breakfast, and my husband had the sirloin special, which he says was one of the best steaks he's had. We even had a visit from the chef after dinner. It was wonderful. The service was great, wine was wonderful and the view of the mountains and sunset was spectacular. One of the best locations in Santa Fe for a quiet, romantic or special occasion dinner. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!"
Dined on 6/12/2013
The menu items presented to us by
our server, although having the same descriptions as that on Open Table, were all about 25% more in cost than advertised. My lunch selection, the Cobb Salad, was one of the poorest in quality and taste I've ever had, and failed to even include the bacon bits stated on the menu. How can anyone mess up a Cobb Salad?? And to top it off, the valet service was a disaster. Pricing food in the higher realms does not make it better. I would expect far more from the Four Seasons."

It had been quite some time since
we were at Terra, mainly because we had previously taken friends there for a special occasion a day or two after ownership changed from Auberge to Four Seasons, and the experience was somewhat unnerving---we had hyped the restaurant so much and then were quite disappointed when the meal was below expectations. However, the current management has redeemed our trust and we will certainly make Terra a regular visit again. Menu was great, presentation was to be expected from a top-notch restaurant, and service very good. Executive chef made an appearance at our table, and we had a chat abut where Terra is going---he has great plans including chef's table dining and some cooking classes which sound interesting."

Came here to celebrate combined
mother's & father's day for lunch. We had the restaurant almost entirely by ourselves since it's in the middle of the week. The service and the food were both excellent. Really enjoyed ourselves."

Terra at Four Seasons Rancho
Encantado is set in the beautiful Sangre de Cristo mountains outside of Santa Fe. The outdoor patio offers fabulous views especially at sunset. The food is absolutely delicious. The service couldn't be better. Everyone from the hostess,to the bartender and the waiter made us feel like VIPs.They took care of every request, including printing boarding passes for our flight the next day ... a service not usually expected in a restaurant. I highly recommend this restaurant. I will definitely return on my next visit to Santa Fe."
Dined on 5/27/2013
Worth the trip out of Santa Fe eve
if you are not staying at the Four Seasons. the view is the best in town. The food is tremendous. Lots of local favors and herbs."
Dined on 5/21/2013
Terra has continued to improve
over the past few months. The crab cake was flavorful and nicely presented and the tuna was perfectly seared and high quality. We loved the branzino with the vegetable ragout request...much preferred to the potato standard presentation. Service was kind and attentive. The dining room was quiet on a Thursday night. We do wish they would work on their music as it seems the same Adele/Stevie/Kings mix is on every time we are there...a more sophisticated and diverse choice of music is long over due, hearing the same music several nights in a row is annoying. Overall, good job!"

Dining at Terra begins with the
beautiful drive to the hotel, and then continues with an exquisite setting. You can eat inside or out; both are airy and contemporary with stunning views of the sunset. (There are also shades inside and out so you're not blinded by the sun). The service was superb; we even had a visit from the sous chef. They have an extensive wine list and very good food. I loved my braised short ribs over smoked potato puree; my dining partner liked her duck breast, but would probably select something else next time. There will be a next time; the entire experience was relaxing and enjoyable. It seems harder and harder these days to find a restaurant with very good food AND great service. I highly recommend."

Worth more than one visit !!
Beautiful location, scenic drive out from Santa Fe (about 20 mins). Exec Chef Andrew Cooper is a ball of fire with great ideas..."
Dined on 5/12/2013
This is one of the best
restaurants in the Santa Fe area, but due to it being outside of the city it tends to be very quiet. The food is excellent as are the drinks."
Dined on 1/21/2013
Excellent lamb shank w/ pea
risotto and gemolata...perfectly cooked, nicely balanced flavor and a pleasing presentation make this entree a current favorite of ours!"
