We had dined at Terra once before, about a year ago. We loved it, raved about it, said we'd come back often, then forgot. We finally returned this past weekend and remembered why we had raved: the food is fabulous. The menu was packed with great choices--difficult to decide. We had a bunch of small plates, including the bacon-wrapped dates (to die for), tuna poke, beet salad, fish tacos…all were exceptional. Obviously, we highly recommend Terra and will be back (for reals).

With a store front setting, did not expect such a cozy interior. The bar was spectacular as you entered with a floor to ceiling masonry marvel offering many specialty drinks. They offered several small plates and a variety of entrees to choose from, great for those seeking a lighter meal or those that like to share. Highly recommend the seasonal rack of lamb and the Ahi Tuna entree. This was our first visit and expect to go back for more. The wait staff was very attentive and we were not rushed out, seeing we were the first seating of the evening.

We had a wonderful meal and good service at our last visit to Terra. The secret for us was to dine early (6:00p.m.) and , therefore, enjoy good conversation with our friends and attentive service from the wait staff before it got crowded and noisy. Dining at Terra is always a treat.

For parents weekend, we wanted to take our son to a nice dinner spot. The service at this place was poor...Anna, started out fine but first off, forgot our drinks...then forgot round 2 also. The lamb I ordered as recommended by her was fatty and when I told her, she just said "sorry". She did not give us anything off our meal nor did she care that she forgot my husband's second drink. Do not recommend this restaurant.

We had a bad experience here. The waitress literally came back 3 separate times to advise things we ordered were sold out. 5 different items out of stock and 4 people at our table ordered a steak and they found out they only had 2 on hand. Why not tell the wait staff up front what was out or running low? By the time, I found an item to order they actually had, the excitement was over. The food was just ok--nothing special--and very expensive. Then the hilarity continued with dessert. A menu is presented. The waitress comes back in a couple of minutes to say it was the wrong menu, here's a correct one with things we have. After comparing round 2, we had received 2 different menus and again items were sold out. Don't waste your money.

Great experience at Terra last Saturday night. Food is imaginative and really good. Service was excellent--our waitress was funny, attentive and made great recommendations. Had the Jambalaya and Ahi tartar and both were outstanding. For dessert the doughnuts with espresso drenched ice cream were amazing. Really nice atmosphere and some creative cocktails...nice beer list. The owner Dennis is very friendly. Overall solid.

I had read the other reviews and expected poor service, and we got it. Our waiter Brian, was nice enough, but it's really more diner level than fine dining. The cappucino tasted like one of those "all in one" machines, and my shrimp and grits were cooked well, but over salted. Wine prices are highly inflated. It's an ok place to eat, but I wouldn't go out of my way to eat there again.

Terra is an excellent restaurant that may suffer from geography. It is outside of downtown Evanston, off Green Bay, in an unexpected spot. However, it is as good or better than almost any restaurant in town. The food is original, the ingredients fresh and the flavor mixes creative. We have eaten here twice now and each time the service has been attentive and the meal delicious. It works for a romantic night out or for dinner with friends. Highly recommend.

We've dined there before, and Terra is our favorite Evanston/Wilmette area Restaurant. Dinner for 4, we opened with a moderately priced Kim Crawford Savingon Blanc, we shared the Bacon wrapped Dates, the Pork Flat bread, and the special brussel sprouts, all were delicious, the dates best of them all. For Main course, my companions oredered 2 Prime Steak Burgers, A fish Taco apetizer, and for myself, the most delicious Bone in Pork Chop Special I've ever eaten, served over Grilled Asperegus, small potatolings and lightly bathed in a sweet apple glaze. For Dessert, We shared a pecan pie, a flourless chocalate cake. We've always been happy with Terra, and this time it hit on all cylinders.

It was my job to find a restaurant My job as the passenger as we were driving into the area for a concert was to find a place to eat. I got online to checked out what Evanston had to offer and found Terra's menu. It sounded interesting and it met my friend's Paleo diet & vegetarian needs, as well as, my traveling companion and my "good comfort food" desires. My companion does not have what I would call a foodie palate so to hear him go on and on at how fantastic the food and waiter were validated my choice was a success! We highly recommend Terra to anyone with picky eaters! I enjoyed their modest but carefully chosen wine selection too. My companion says get the Beef Tenderloin Tips when you go!

My husband and I went to Terra because we like to try new restaurants and we like to support Evanston restaurants. Unfortunately, Terra is not a restaurant we will return to. ("You only have one chance to make a good first impression.") While the food was very good, the service was frustrating. Our server was very engaging, when he stopped at our table, but he missed many of the details. It took almost 10 minutes for him to greet us and take our drink order. We never received the salads we ordered. (He admitted the salad preparer was 'overwhelmed'.) We finally had our water refilled for the first time (after many requests) when we were paying the bill. There are too many other excellent restaurants in Evanston--we will not return.

We tried this on a last minute whim. Do not let the wide availability fool you, it is a nice spot. The service needs some work. Despite having a well thought out wine list, it took too long to order and receive our wine (why cant restaurants get this right?). Also, if you are going to sell $200 bottles of wine, you cannot just have one wine glass for all varietals (although it was a respectable Cabernet glass). On to the food. There is a great selection of tapas like appetizers. The mushroom/truffle soup is one of the best I have had anywhere (please make this a permanent part of the menu). The Tuna taco, could have used more Tuna but was very tasty. Salads and flatbreads are also winners. Nice place. Keep it up.

Together for a reunion, we wanted a quiet place to chat. Terra is local for us, free valet a nice touch. Decor not trendy, but quiet. But our server was loud, just this side of rude, with a 'let's get the show on the road' attitude. The menu was an odd mix, modern bistro (foie gras) and greasy spoon (Grecian lamb). Our group ate chicken breasts (rated average), Korean style short ribs, the special, quite good, though not in the least Korean. Lamb was fine. The green salad could have been fresher. We felt the prices were on the high side for the value. Terra could be good with more attention and refinement, especially the service- I recommend they hire a consultant.

This was our first dinner at Terra. Our group of 4 ladies spent 4 hours at the table and enjoyed everything...bacon wrapped dates were a standout. We all have different main courses and desserts; selections for the entree were jambalaya, tuna, sea bass and beef short ribs. Bryon, our server, was very friendly and attentive. We had one bottle of Prosecco and alas, the bar had no more. Bryon, brought a different sparkling wine, which we were offered a taste. We accepted it, but it was not too much to our liking. We hope they restock Prosecco. We rated this 4 stars simply b/c the sparkling wine selection was so limited. This is an extremely nice restaurant and we wish them success.

I had the seared tuna while my daughter and mother-in-law had the meatloaf (seriously good meatloaf!). My son said the gnocchi rocked and my husband raved about the Jambalaya. The menu is FABULOUS, the service is pretty good, but the decor is HORRENDOUS! (Think mid80s suburban spot for senior citizens) There's a reason this place had only 4 tables occupied while places nearby like Found, Farmhouse, Boltwood, and Union are packed every night! Hire a designer, get ride of the browns and dusty roses, the awful ceiling, the tall ceramic vases with fake flowers and grasses. Get a vibe going, cuz the food is outstanding and if you do this, people will come! If not, this place will go under... SOON.
