Terra, An American Bistro is Montarra Restaurant Groups newest restaurant. Executive Chef Dave Perlick, together with Chef de Cuisine Chris Peterson , brings his critically acclaimed talents to the North Shore in Evanston Illinois.

Chef Dave has created a wonderfully diverse menu of contemporary American Cuisine with International influences that will showcase, when available, the finest locally grown ingredients, the freshest seafood and the best cuts of locally grown, corn fed, USDA Prime Grade Beef.

Terra, An American Bistro also has an extensive wine list featuring more than 50 wines from over 10 countries to pair with the wonderfully diverse dishes Chef Dave has created.

Our menu changes seasonally to bring you the freshest ingredients to your table so you are sure to discover something different every time you visit.

  • "We always wanted a restaurant with a variety of choices close to home. The ambience and noise level are very rewarding when so many restaurants you can't have a conversation. The bar is perfect if you want to sit and eat there but the dining room is never rushed and you can linger before a show or theatre. One thing is I have noticed prices getting pushed higher and they need to offer either soup or salad and a vegetable to continue to keep this location a place to continue to return"

  • "We had never been to Terra before and we were pleasantly surprised. The food was very good and the service was great. The ambiance was bistro noisy. Parking is tough so they have complimentary valet parking. We had the organic greens salad and the scallops and bullabaise and both were outstanding. We thought our waiter had too many tables, but he and his support staff handled it well. It is slower dinner experience to don’t expect fast food. The price, 130 for 2, was not bad considering the same meal would cost twice as much in the city. We are going to add the restaurant to our list."

  • "You have to watch for Terra to pop up on Green Bay Road, but it's worth the vigilance. The interior of Terra strikes you as you enter with a very upbeat feeling. The food is varied, leaning a little Italian, but all seafood and meat selections are interesting, and are delicious, as we sampled each other's apps and entrees. Service is prompt, prices are moderate; we will definitely be back!!"

  • "This was our fourth or fifth time at Terra, and this time the food was especially tasty. Tried some of the small plates this time, and all were tasty. Bacon wrapped dates especially good, also the Brussels sprouts. Wines by the glass a bit pricey, but the Pinot Grigio I had was delicious. Overall, a solid & reliable neighborhood place, one we will return to I am sure."

  • "I've been here 3 or 4 times and each time I'm pleasantly surprised at how tasty and interesting each dish is. Traditional dishes are a little lighter (that's a good thing) but not short on flavor. There's an interesting flavor element in each dish, making it a little different from what you find elsewhere, but never weird. Everything is just right!"

BYO for a nominal corkage fee may be a good choice. The food was outstanding. Flavorful, beautiful presentation and not excessive in serving size. Liked it so much that we already made a reservation for our next outing."

  • "If you're a foody looking for a local "Fit For Foodies" option and are tired of the Highland Park, Deerfield and Highwood restaurants, this is a good choice. The atmosphere is very nice and it's well decorated. Nice menu options. Rack of lamb was amazing. Bread pudding was very tasty, but on the smallish side (not big enough for sharing), but that made us have to order the beignets with espresso poured over them. Total yum!"

Food was decent, though overpriced, my table, though, with college kids and myself in my late 20s we were definitely the youngest people there. Service was decent, food lacked creativity and was a little under seasoned."

Our server was marvelous and very knowledgable about the menu and wine list. This location is ideal for a relaxing weekday meal, a romantic dinner or a special occasion event.   • "We've celebrated a couple of special occasions here, as a couple, a foursome, and on this occasion, Valentines Day, with our 2 adult children and their spouses. The appetizers we shared were generous and wonderful. Everyone ordered a different dish and we were all pleased. Our daughter, a vegetarian, had no problem ordering a "custom made" entree, ad well as a salad sans meat. The service was exceptional as always."

  • "Upon entering Terra Bistro, I'm always impressed by the beautiful bar that greets its guests. The main room is also tastefully decorated, an element that enhances the dining experience. My recent visit was my third, but my friend had not yet had the pleasure. We shared three items: the "large plate" special of sea scallops, the small plate fish tacos, and a baby-greens salad with strawberries and goat-cheese crouton. My friend was impressed by the selection of menu items and found our selections to be perfect for her appetite and palate. If I had one criticism it would be that the scallop dish was a tad over-salted, and I'm not one to stint on the sodium chloride. I look forward to visiting Terra again and trying some new dishes."

  • "Similar to our two prior visits, the food was quite good but the service was incredibly spotty. It took the server a good 15 min to approach our table, he rushed us to order but then forgot our drinks and didn't bring them until well after the appetizers were served. He didn't let us know the specials until after our appetizers came and then rushed thru them so quickly we could barely understand him. Then when we tried to order one, we were told they ran out (it was only 8:15!) He took our entire order without writing it down, and forgot one of the sides which didn't come until we were done with dinner. It's too bad b/c the food is really good, but poor service three times over the past 1 1/2 years means we probably won't return."

The bar is beautiful and Brandon is a wonderful bartender who made us some wonderful cocktails. The Food as usual was stellar. This is easily one of the best restaurants and one of the biggest secrets on the NS. We have introduced many friends to Terra and they have all been equally impressed.   • "We have been here a few times before and returned because we like it . This time I was somewhat disappointed. The waitress seemed a little inexperienced although she tried to be helpful. I asked her if the meatloaf was spicy. She said "No, it was not spicy at all." Wrong! It was so peppery that I could not eat it. When I told her, she offered something else. I ate everything else on the plate other than the meatloaf and told her I prefered to get a dessert. She said she would give us two. My friend enjoyed his dinner very much. The desserts were OK. I think we will try it again, but I will be more careful with what I order."

The food was delicious, perfectly seasoned, light fish, and loved the appetizer - - we had the goat cheese croquettes, very crispy and light on the outside, gooey perfection inside, with that lovely fruit compote. My only quibble with the meal was the dessert; LOVED the flavor of the bourbon pecan pie, but in order to serve it warm, it would seem they heated it in a microwave, as the crust had completely lost it's tenderness and was tough to cut. Otherwise, very tasty. Warm pie is delightful, but I'd sacrifice warmth for tender crust. The service is prompt and friendly and attentive. We really need to visit more often."

  • "I first dined at Terra during its first month of being open, when it didn't yet have a liquor license and was still working out some other kinks, but the staff was very friendly, and I saw potential in the food, so I hoped it would survive the competitive Evanston-area restaurant scene. It did. A year or so later, I returned and was pleased from top to bottom with everything, from the menu (including the drink options) to the atmosphere. I would definitely go back.
