Terra, An American Bistro is Montarra Restaurant Groups newest restaurant. Executive Chef Dave Perlick, together with Chef de Cuisine Chris Peterson , brings his critically acclaimed talents to the North Shore in Evanston Illinois.

Chef Dave has created a wonderfully diverse menu of contemporary American Cuisine with International influences that will showcase, when available, the finest locally grown ingredients, the freshest seafood and the best cuts of locally grown, corn fed, USDA Prime Grade Beef.

Terra, An American Bistro also has an extensive wine list featuring more than 50 wines from over 10 countries to pair with the wonderfully diverse dishes Chef Dave has created.

Our menu changes seasonally to bring you the freshest ingredients to your table so you are sure to discover something different every time you visit.

  • "We went to Terra for our 34th wedding anniversary this past weekend. The food was very good, our server was friendly. We did feel that we were kind of rushed through the meal even though there were empty tables. We ordered a bottle of wine - it was good but it shouldn't have cost $62."

  • "This was our first dinner at Terra. Our group of 4 ladies spent 4 hours at the table and enjoyed everything...bacon wrapped dates were a standout. We all have different main courses and desserts; selections for the entree were jambalaya, tuna, sea bass and beef short ribs. Bryon, our server, was very friendly and attentive. We had one bottle of Prosecco and alas, the bar had no more. Bryon, brought a different sparkling wine, which we were offered a taste. We accepted it, but it was not too much to our liking. We hope they restock Prosecco. We rated this 4 stars simply b/c the sparkling wine selection was so limited. This is an extremely nice restaurant and we wish them success."

  • "This place is great! Despite some negative reviews about outdated decor, the atmosphere is lovely and the food was terrific. Menu had a lot of options! Something for everyone. I had the seared tuna while my daughter and mother-in-law had the meatloaf (seriously good meatloaf!). My son said the gnocchi rocked and my husband raved about the Jambalaya. We were too full for desserts but we will be back for those another day!"

  • "The menu is FABULOUS, the service is pretty good, but the decor is HORRENDOUS! (Think mid80s suburban spot for senior citizens) There's a reason this place had only 4 tables occupied while places nearby like Found, Farmhouse, Boltwood, and Union are packed every night! Hire a designer, get ride of the browns and dusty roses, the awful ceiling, the tall ceramic vases with fake flowers and grasses. Get a vibe going, cuz the food is outstanding and if you do this, people will come! If not, this place will go under... SOON."

  • "So we booked a table here at the last minute (3 hours before on a Friday night) and were pleasantly surprised to get in (My husband thought it might be a bad sign). We met friends at the restaurant and were seated immediately. We didn't do appetizers and split some salads which were more than enough and very good. Two of us had the special halibut which was amazing. We all agreed that the food was really good, and we would return. Service was also prompt and friendly, not annoying."

  • "As we are relatively new to the area, we have been exploring many different eateries on the North Shore. Last weeks find for us was Terra. The food was excellent, it was easy to find, and the service was outstanding. We are both Gluten-Free (celiac), and so are very careful where we eat. We had no issues, and were happy to find the waiter understood the problem and pointed out to us what we could eat and what we couldn't. They do not have a dedicated gluten free menu (hint hint), and they do not have a dedicated fryer for flour-based foods, so we could not try the polenta fries (sad face). The Duck cassoulet was great, as were my wife's lamb chops. Nice selection of specialty drinks and wine. We will definitely return."

  • "We had 4 people and all enjoyed the food. The appetizer portions were large; 6 large shrimp and a lot of calamari so plenty for sharing. The seafood linguini had tons of seafood. The chocolate mousse cake was moist and enough for 4 to share. The service was a little off; we waited ages for the appetizers and then got this main course immediately. The booth was okay for us but if you have guests who are large, I suggest a table. The restaurant was quiet; it wasn't full but there were plenty if people there. I would return."

  • "We have been to and enjoyed Terra several times and always enjoyed the food and service. Menu is broad enough to tempt the vegetarian to the carnivore and the use of seasoning and sauces is always spot-on. However, this time something was not up to my (or fine dining) standards. While we were still enjoying our salad course, the entrees (beautifully prepared ahi tuna and tasty jambalaya) appeared. No attempt to correct the situation or offer an alternative... just "oops". The rest of the meal went well. I don't think it is just our preference; we have taken a major markdown on lesser restaurants, blaming management for lack of wait staff or kitchen training. What happened here?"

While the Caesar salad was wonderful (crisp and pungent), my bacon wrapped meatloaf was cold. My dad's steak was too rare (ordered medium). The presentation of the food was lovely but the actual fare fell a little flat. My husband's shrimp and spaghetti dish was adequate. The server, though polite, had my aged parents hand him their dishes rather than moving to them to remove them. I'm hopeful our evening was an anomaly as I've had great meals at Terra and had talked up the restaurant to my out of town family. "

The ambiance of this restaurant is so warm and relaxing. My scallops were wonderful and my husband ordered the Tenderloin Tips, cooked to perfection. Best of all was the wonderful fruit tart dessert.   • "We had never been to Terra before and we were pleasantly surprised. The food was very good and the service was great. The ambiance was bistro noisy. Parking is tough so they have complimentary valet parking. We had the organic greens salad and the scallops and bullabaise and both were outstanding. We thought our waiter had too many tables, but he and his support staff handled it well. It is slower dinner experience to don’t expect fast food. The price, 130 for 2, was not bad considering the same meal would cost twice as much in the city. We are going to add the restaurant to our list."

  • "We always wanted a restaurant with a variety of choices close to home. The ambience and noise level are very rewarding when so many restaurants you can't have a conversation. The bar is perfect if you want to sit and eat there but the dining room is never rushed and you can linger before a show or theatre. One thing is I have noticed prices getting pushed higher and they need to offer either soup or salad and a vegetable to continue to keep this location a place to continue to return"

  • "This was our fourth or fifth time at Terra, and this time the food was especially tasty. Tried some of the small plates this time, and all were tasty. Bacon wrapped dates especially good, also the Brussels sprouts. Wines by the glass a bit pricey, but the Pinot Grigio I had was delicious. Overall, a solid & reliable neighborhood place, one we will return to I am sure."

  • "Our first visit was a great experience. The service was attentive and the server very knowledgeable. Wine more than adequate but single glasses a bit pricey. BYO for a nominal corkage fee may be a good choice. The food was outstanding. Flavorful, beautiful presentation and not excessive in serving size. Liked it so much that we already made a reservation for our next outing."
