Terra American Bistrowonderful!Terra is a great restaurant with outstanding food and service. Not too fond of the seating and the noise level but the food makes it worth while.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMMy policy regarding reviewsI make it my policy to refrain from giving my opinion about an establishment until I've visited it at least 3 times. This was my first time. However, since you asked, I'd have to say that this was some of the best food I'd had in a looong time. The dining area could be a bit bigger, but all in all, it was still a fantastic meal. I highly recommend it.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMTasty Mother's Day brunchAs always Terra was spot on with the prix fixe special menu,
and the service was perfect. Mom had the steak and eggs and
I had the salmon bennies. Both were delicious. Terra is a true
neighborhood gem.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMOne of our favorites. NeverOne of our favorites. Never a bad meal, excellent beer and wine list.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMLa Mesa GemCan't help but think we got a geat deal when Terra moved to La Mesa. Saves us drive time and provides us with an excellent Farm to Table resturant minutes away from our home. We have told many people about it and they all have enjoyed the food and the staff at Terra. Just disappointed that the Flat Iron Steak was already gone but our meal was excellent. We will be back again.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMOur Third of Three Wonderful VisitsSomething for everybody! Favorites: Potato, Brie & red Onion Quesadillas with chipotle honey(!) and pico de gallo, Hand cut Truffle Fries, House Salad, Sliced Top Sirloin, chimichurri (!) smoked onion marmalade (yummy!), avocado mash, local veggies, Bistro Burger, gorgonzola, truffle aoli, caramelized onions, truffle fries, Karl Strauss...Pot Roast, & Grilled Local Fish w/ citrus soy glaze; wasabi aoli was FIERY, though; & Ch.Skirt Steak. Generous portion sizes except for a few desserts. We prefer small desserts because dinners were very filling--lime cheesecake is fantastic.! Love your bread, hummus, catsup and other apparently housemade foods! Terra American Bistro is the place to go for unique, memorably delicious candlelight dining!5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMAnniversary Night OutWe had a great waiter, food was exceptional, fresh, and tasty. I had been at this restaurant before for lunch, and it was very good then also. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMSimple menuGreat food with many robust flavors. If you like simple flavors this is not your place. There was a bomb of tastes after every bite. Outstanding Hummus.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMlocal gemi havejust returned from New Tork and dinner on Friday was as good as I ate there and much less expensive. The salmon was delicious. we have been to Terra a number of times and this was the best dinner I have had there.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMWe went to Terra for dinnerWe went to Terra for dinner on 4/23 in response to an email about a special event in which 5 chefs would be preparing courses that included a wine pairing. We've been to Terra on numerous occasions, although mostly for Sunday brunch, which are always wonderful in every way. This event, though, was different. While we're thrilled for Terra's burgeoning success in the neighborhood, our 5:30 reservation was a real problem by 6. It was so noisy that we left. When a room is packed, people speak more loudly in order to be heard. That increases exponentially as more people arrive. It was supposed to be a special event for us (only we knew that) but it didn't turn out as we had hoped. But, we'll be back...4/23/2013 12:00:00 AMThe staff was professional,The staff was professional, attentive and warm. The chef came by our table - a lovely unassuming guy. The food was really wonderful - had grilled salmon.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent food, great serviceDelicious food, great service, chic dining room. Staff is on board with the chef's philosophy and can tell you all about where the ingredients are sourced. It's a lovely place to have dinner with a date or friends, whenever you're in the mood to enjoy good conversations over great food and drinks.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMb-day dinnerWe had a great birthday dinner. The service was outstanding and the food was excellent.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat comfort food - pot roastGreat comfort food - pot roast that melts in your mouth!4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMA small group of 4 for lunch.A small group of 4 for lunch. Two eating vegetarian, two meat eaters. We were all happy with our food! The burger was awesome, juicy and cooked perfectly. The beet and goat cheese salad was great! The house salad with chicken was a big hit. I had the crab cakes love the crab, but did not care for the sauce on top. Next time, I'll get them with no sauce.
The chocolate cigar was just perfect - we split it as it is so rich!
I will go to Terra again and again! Great fresh food!4/10/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways a treat to be a Terra.Always a treat to be a Terra. Everything is fresh and savory. Vegan and Vegetarian options.4/10/2013 12:00:00 AMLOVE LOVE LOVE IT ! The foodLOVE LOVE LOVE IT ! The food is always delicious and the staff is great. You can never go wrong with Terra.4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat prices for gourmet foodWe went for Easter dinner and it was delicious! All of our 3 entrees were great, topped off by the chocolate cigar for dessert (although it would be better if served with vanilla ice cream instead of whipped cream). Prices for food and wine were very reasonable except for the additional $5.50 we were charged to split a salad - our only disappointment .3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMWhat a treasure!THe Easter menu was terrific, each course a new marvel!!3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMNeeds fixing upFood great, prices very high, reminds me of San Francisco but
the the place is way too plain, actually pretty ugly inside and out.
Maybe plant something outside to hide the views.
Waitress was really great!3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMAlthough the overall experienceAlthough the overall experience was good, the food did not live up to the hype. For the price, we expected much better. Probably wont be going back.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful night out to connectWonderful night out to connect with friends. Great food, fresh menu. No problem adding a guest to our reservation.3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMThe chef has written a cookbookThe chef has written a cookbook and the ideas of his restaurant are not only appearant there but throughout the entire restaurant. He was also very gererous with his time.3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was my second visit toThis was my second visit to the restaurant, and I will be back. It is nice to have a quality restaurant not far from where I live. This area doesn't have a lot to offer in the way of good restaurants offering high quality food, so it's a treat!3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMTry something newTried something new this time - the chipotle skirt steak with black beans, potato & brie quesedilla, and fresh garden greens. The meal was large enough for two small eaters to share and the combination of flavors on the plate was great. We dined at 6:00 pm and there were several other tables of diners, but it was quiet. Later when all tables are full the noise level goes up. Excellent service as always.3/19/2013 12:00:00 AMI used a gift card that wasI used a gift card that was given to me by co workers. Wow what a gift I enjoyed every bite of my food. I tried kale for the first time and it was cooked to perfection. I can not wait to go on my on my own dime.3/17/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways a good meal hereLots of restaurants do a beet & goat cheese salad now but Terra's is one of the best we've had. The special entree' was a luscious sea bass served over parsnip pureed potatoes. Service was friendly and dishes were served at just the right time. Always a good meal here, we'll be back.2/6/2013 12:00:00 AMDinner at 8Beets & Goat cheese small plate was great. Grilled Mahi-mahi with Asian sauce & fresh vegs was too salty for our taste. We strive for a low diet, so we should have passed on the Asian sauce. Otherwise, dinner at 8 was a real pleasure, not too noisy and good attention as usual from the wait staff.1/22/2013 12:00:00 AMNice....We had a late dinner 8-ish and most patrons were gone. That made it very quiet and private and we got just the right amount of attention from the waitstaff. Food was delicious and we like their commitment to local sourcing and sustainable foods.1/8/2013 12:00:00 AM
